DeadDoorpost · 19/10/2017 20:56

I have no symptoms beforehand they start when I start:
Snappy and irritable
Tired more so than usual
Less hungry OR more hungry depending
Cramps (only started when I went on the pill.. and have continued since I stopped)
Cold
Self hatred

chosenone · 19/10/2017 20:58

I'm way more predictable in my 40s than ever before. Starts with a couple of spots. Then tingly nipples and achey boobs. Then depression day Confused some days I just feel mildly irritable and fed up. Sometimes I feel like quitting my job, leaving my DH, moving house, and despairing at every little thing.

deepestdarkestperu · 19/10/2017 20:58

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who suffers from clumsiness. I always know when I'm due on as I start dropping things or knocking things over all the time!

casualobserver · 19/10/2017 20:59

Anxiety (which I never connect to pms until my period starts then I realise why I've been stressy)
Clumsy
Painful heavy boobs, one in particular is very painful
Constipation then a huge period poo when I start
Backache
Greasy hair
What a joy it all is!

Teddy7878 · 19/10/2017 21:02

I don't suffer with headaches @phileas other than the odd tension pain in my temples or back of head when I'm tired/stressed. My mum and ex's sister both suffered with excruciating headaches during PMS though for a few days

I forgot about needing a wee constantly too it’s like my bladder has shrunk to the size of a walnut. Does anybody feel rubbish around the last couple of days of their period? I often weak and lightheaded.

bluejelly · 19/10/2017 21:53

On the advice of the dr tried the mini pill for three months but it didn’t help at all plus I bled every day.
They said I could try taking low dose Prozac the week before my period as that can help PMS. I might go back and try it. Every month I descend into despair for at least a week. It’s horrible Sad

repetitionrepetition · 19/10/2017 22:24

depression!

from memory. I’m having my first period in 450 days this week so i’ve got to get back into the swing of things (the depression has been noted though). so far I’m mostly just impressed by how much blood i’ve lost compared to the good old (pre child, pre coil) days Shock

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 19/10/2017 22:29

Increased appetite.
Rage.
Hot flushes.
Diarrhea.
Cramping.
Back pain
Negative thoughts.

Collidascope · 19/10/2017 22:58

Sore breasts for about a week before
Headache for a couple of days before
Insomnia and feeling too hot for a couple of nights before
Dull ache in legs (like growing pains when I was a teenager)
The moods are the worst though. This is when I'm likely to cry over nothing, get bad road rage and snap at people when they don't deserve it.
Cravings for carbs.
Skin can go to pot too.
Bloating. I can gain a few lbs.

TomatoTomAto · 19/10/2017 23:04

Very sore, heavy breasts with quite solid/hard areas. Spots on my chin and weirdly, cleavage. I also definitely eat a lot more than usual.

I'm in the sore breast part at the moment and it's restricting my life. It's just so painful!

Ellendegeneres · 19/10/2017 23:09

Migraine
Hot flushes
Lower back pain
Cramps
Constipation followed by period perfect timed diarrhoea
I get a little bit cross stabby rages

See when I reflect on it, I'm so thankful to be female.
Then again, better that lot than another pregnancy!

Elvisola · 19/10/2017 23:14

I want to divorce DH. It sounds bizarre but I've only recently linked that my feelings we should separate/divorce/he pisses me off/ I can't stand him only occur before my period.

Poor bloke. He's really quite nice before you all give me LTB.

Sweetbell · 19/10/2017 23:15

Week before :
Low mood
Mildly irritated at Dh (even when he's at work lol)
Tired
Insomnia
Bloating
Spotting
Heavy sore breasts
Day before:
Skull crushing blinding headache
No patience (see headache)

Mid cycle I get ovulation pain on one side lasts about 2 hours. Unbelievable pressure,my pelvis feels like a balloon needs bursting in my insides. If I'm sitting down when it strikes I struggle to straighten up and walking aches on one side. I'm usually visibly wincing.

Ktown · 19/10/2017 23:17

Mumsnet: can you put this in classics and get a someone to write and article on how to treat pms please???
For our daughters!

Sweetbell · 19/10/2017 23:19

Edit : mildly irritated by Dh well more like I question why I'm married to him, a lot of negative thoughts. Rest of month he's lovely and I actually can't keep hands off him. But come PMS I question my choice in him!

PrincessPlod · 19/10/2017 23:22

This cycle has been the worst so far.
Headache
Nausea
Dodgy tummy
Dark thoughts
Rage
Crying pretty much all the time
Lower back pain

I’ve been hell to live with and I’ve felt like I’m going mad no helped by af turning up 5 days late. Soon as it arrived my mood was lifted and I felt normal again. I am seeing the doctor if happens again next month as I felt very unwell physically and mentally.

NorthStarAtMyFeet · 19/10/2017 23:25

Not rtft but has anyone mentioned oil of evening primrose?
A couple of years ago there was a similar thread and I read it in tears at the other posters talking about the rage/self hatred they felt because I thought it was only me.

So I used to feel rage/self hatred, it's not so bad now. Weepy still, bloated, wanting to eat rubbish, impatience.

Anyone else feel that perhaps it's actually a "silver chair" when we see things as they really are?

Domino20 · 19/10/2017 23:29

Terrible rage. Its awful to feel so so angry. Also suicidal thoughts, really dark moods. No boob pain and only mild cramps but legs ache terribly. I can't wait to be free of the rollercoaster. Tried a variety of hormonal contraception when I was younger but nearly always ended with increases in rage. Periods SUCK.

PurpleMinionMummy · 20/10/2017 00:00

Physical;
Insomnia
Extreme tiredness
Bloating
Gaining weight

Mentally;
Anxiety, convinced everyone secretly hates me, something bad will happen to us, don't want to go out/see people
Depression, feel useless, can't be bothered with anything
Extremely irritable, snap everyones heads off and pick fights with my partner
Murderous rages
Occasionally suicidal thoughts

PurpleMinionMummy · 20/10/2017 00:03

I have pmdd treated with anti depressants. They make a huge difference. I strongly urge anyone who struggles mentally with pmt to look at pmdd.

5foot5 · 20/10/2017 00:09

55 now so thankfully I am seeing all this in the rear view mirror Grin
However, the symptom I most remember is the clumsiness. If I started dropping things, knocking things over and generally being a bit of a klutz it was always a sign my period was either about to start or had just started

moaninggiraffe · 20/10/2017 00:37

No one tells you any of this in your teens! I think it would be better if girls were more prepared before starting there periods. When we had the "chat" about it at school all I can remember being told was that it wasn't sore Hmm. My symptoms were:
Extreme mood swing
Anxiety
Hopeless
Rage
Tears
Insomnia
Fatigue
Zero attention span - couldn't drive the closer it got.
Joint pain - excruciating pains everywhere
Cramps
Lower back pain
Bloating
Loss off appetite then binge eating.

Diagnosed with endometriosis and extreme pmt.

Who would want to be a woman?!

justilou1 · 20/10/2017 00:40

I used to know I was getting my period because my HUSBAND would get melancholic and start hanging out for chocolate. He feels much better since my hysterectomy!
