Should I report him for not using car seat

I have asked my ex-dp over and over to buy a car seat for our 4 year old ds. I dropped him today at his dad's and looked in his car - no car seat. I didnt say anything but i will message him. Ive emailed, texted and called about it.

Im wondering if he wont listen, if i should report him to 101 and pretend i am someone else who spotted him not in a car seat so they will tell him - then he will listen.

I know i should refuse to let him have him on the weekend, so i guess i will do that until he buys one.

WWYD?

No, the other option is he cant drive my son until he gets one.

He’s not ‘your’ son both of you are his parents

I think I had a similar car seat to OP. I don't know if it took 30 minutes to fit, but the seatbelt had to go through the back of the seat, and the gap wasn't wide enough to insert your hand/arm to push/pull it through, so it was almost a case of being impossible to fit in any amount of time. Although I eventually succeeded after losing skin off my knuckles and the back of my hand.

Once I got it fitted, there was no way I was removing it before DD had outgrown it. (In the end it was replaced with an excellent isofix seat when I upgraded my car.)

Why would you need something that takes so long to install/uninstall?

Because it's only after you've bought it that you find out how inconceivably shit fixing it is. I literally went back to the instructions several times because I could not believe something could be so shitly designed, but I wasn't misunderstanding them, it was just shit.

Sorry didn't realise it was a ZOMBIE THREAD.

PettyContractor · 20/11/2019 13:35

MN really needs to sort out a Zombie warning that doesn't just notify the person who revives the thread.

To repeat: ZOMBIE THREAD.

WildfirePonie · 20/11/2019 13:38

Oh ffs, can't believe I just read a two year old thread...

Need to know the outcome now Grin

30 minutes to fit a car seat

Aren't they all isofix these days? 30 seconds, surely?

Joerev · 20/11/2019 13:43

@BlackMirror. Out of curiosity. What car seat do you have that takes 30 mins to fit?!?

GettingABitDesperateNow · 20/11/2019 13:46

I'd be refusing access til he gets a seat. I'm surprised you let him go with him without one

spanglydangly · 20/11/2019 14:02

Don't use this as a power struggle, give him the car seat, your son is going to be the loser here by being hurt, disabled or killed.

That's worth an hour of my time to avoid any day!

spanglydangly · 20/11/2019 14:05

Um..actually he isnt using the car today, he is walking to school as its round the corner. Everyone knows everything on here, dont they!

So why did you look in the car to see if he had one? Hmm

spanglydangly · 20/11/2019 14:08

ZOMBIE THREAD 🧟‍♀️

spacepyramid · 20/11/2019 14:10

Refuse to let your DS go until he proves he has a car seat.
