To want to have a nice chat about the cosmetic surgery you've had

I always said I was going to age naturally.
Until - early 50s - I start to look like shit.
Deep crows feet - didn't bother me til they started to creep down my cheeks.
My chin has got those strange wrinkles that Gordon Ramsey had before he got filled.
So, tell me what you've had done and were you happy with it.
Please.

@rosewhitetips

Does it not?

Oh ok then

StormTreader · 13/10/2017 14:15

rosewhitetips I'm not sure exactly what you thought you were adding with that comment, it feels like the equivalent of when men wander onto makeup discussions to loudly announce "I prefer the natural look".

Crazythoughts · 13/10/2017 14:15

One if my colleagues had a facelift in her mid 60s and she looked fab; just looked like herself but fresher, tighter neck line and less wrinkles! Don’t know anyone else who has had cosmetic surgery (that has admitted it!)

AgathaF · 13/10/2017 14:27

RoseWhiteTips - you're the absolute authority on this, are you? Hmm

GerdaLovesLili · 13/10/2017 14:28

Gawd, this is the kind of thing I'd never discuss on a public internet forum just in case it ends up in some awful newspaper.

bananafish81 · 13/10/2017 14:35

Nose job aged 17. Enormous Jewish conk, had the bump removed and end thinned. Completely life changing, I often forget I had it done because my nose feels and looks like the one I should have had all along

First botox 3 months ago aged 35. Softened the crows feet from deeper grooves so there's the lightest of creases when I smile

Absolutely thrilled with the results

bananafish81 · 13/10/2017 14:38

Oh and I had non invasive cosmetic dentistry - ABB (alignment bleach bonding) rather than veneers

Also brilliant results

The ABB and nose job don't need maintenance, the botox is an ongoing commitment however.

Recovery from tummy tuck was hell on earth. I had a 2.5 year old and 6 month old... also single parent. Had to relocate to my parents house and get my mum to help me. Surgeon said it was no worse than a c-section when I asked about recovery. He lied 🙄 I looked like I'd been run over by a lorry (my dad's words)

Results are fab tho

whyowhyiwhy · 13/10/2017 15:39

(I've had 2 c-sections) walk in the park compared to the tummy tuck!

Maddiemademe · 13/10/2017 16:52

I completely agree that the c section recovery was so easy compared to the tummy tuck. I remember waking up from the surgery and I couldn't even move slightly. The first time they get you up to go toilet I was thinking 'oh god what have I done!' The pain and tightness was horrendous. I had to be active after the 1st full day recovery and it was not fun. Results however, I can not even begin to tell you how good they are.

heron98 · 13/10/2017 17:07

See, people who have stuff done always say "it looks so natural, no one can tell".

a) why do it if you don't look any different?

and

b) yes, they can tell.

I have a friend with the most awful trouty lips. She must have no idea how trouty they look because she keeps doing it. You could well be the same as her.

Maddiemademe · 13/10/2017 17:19

Some people like the 'trout pout' look. She is doing it for herself not for other people. Or at least that's why I do what I do.

bananafish81 · 13/10/2017 17:39

*See, people who have stuff done always say "it looks so natural, no one can tell".

a) why do it if you don't look any different?*

Er, because subtle stuff can make a massive difference

People who knew me when I was 17 could tell I'd had a nose job if they saw my old nose then new nose

No one nowadays can tell because it looks really natural and doesn't look like a badly done nose job. They think it's my nose

If they were to see photos of my old nose then of course they'd see the difference. But unless they're looking side by side why would they know I'd had work done?

Not sure quite how that's so hard to understand?

KittyLover91 · 13/10/2017 17:58

Had my boobs done 2 years ago!

I’m 26 and I think it’s the best thing I’ve done by far. I was extremely small before spent a lot of time before holidays sewing padding into bikinis so I didn’t feel like a small boy haha.

Would do it all over again given the chance but glad I took the time to do my research and didn’t just rush into it

Strokethefurrywall · 13/10/2017 18:33

Tryingtokeepfit - tell me more about this permalip please? How was the pain level?

I had some juverderm in tiny smile lines by the lips, and the rest in my top lip. I don't feel it really made much difference in the lips but would consider permanent lip fillers just because it's easier. I'm lucky that I don't have many wrinkles (have just turned 38) so don't need botox, but feel I will need something to sort out a dropping lower face somewhere along the line!

Body wise I have no complaints, I'm in better shape now than I was in my 20's.

featheryfancy · 13/10/2017 18:40

@Tryingtokeepfit would you mind giving some details on where you went for the permalip implant? It sounds brilliant.
I've been looking into this for almost a year but don't actually know anyone who's had it done Smile

DeadEnders · 13/10/2017 19:07

I'm sure the OP is perfectly genuine.

I'm sure this won't end up in the Daily Mail.

Tryingtokeepfit · 13/10/2017 19:14

Stroke and feathery

I had just the top lip done in 2012 by Mr Roy NG at the independent clinic on Harley Street.

Pain- full dental block before the procedure. That was the most painful part. After that it was just tugging and felt strange.

Lots of swelling and bruising. (It looked awful for 3 days. I would recommend taking a week of work.)
After it has fully healed it looks great. At first I was disappointed because I thought there wasn't much difference (it just looks so natural!). But when I compared to old photos, I could see a huge change.!

Partner can't feel it when kissing (he is brutal and would tell me the truth!)

I'd recommend having it. However I do worry about it long term. If it ever has to come out, I worry about having a saggy, thin top lip?! Haha but it's been fine for the last 5 years.

Twinkie1 · 13/10/2017 19:18

Had nose job 10 years ago. Still dislike nose but I’ve big eyes and lips so he wouldn’t do the straight tiny upturned nose I wanted as he said I’d look like a surprised fish😮

I did want a tummy tuck but couple of girls at gym have had them and have started to put weight on and it’s gone on sort of the back of their hips and waist and they look really odd. £6000 worth of personal trainer and big knickers to tuck my belly into it is, I don’t want fat in odd places but a nice taught tummy.

Greyhorses · 13/10/2017 19:32

I've had juvederm in my lips. I have 0 top lip which always made me so self conscious.

I would love a boob job but can't afford one right now :(

whyowhyiwhy · 13/10/2017 23:03

Oh and I couldn't stand up straight for nearly 6 weeks. Had a panic they had stitched me too tight and I'd never be able to stand normally again!! Would never go through it again 😱

Agree about weird weight gain after tummy tuck- I have enormous boobs now and it will go on my face/ arms/ underarms if I allow myself to put any more weight on.

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 13/10/2017 23:45

Spent 4K getting braces and teeth whitening. I was so self conscious about my teeth before and now I love them. I had to scrimp and save for YEARS to get it done, so not a rush decision. Would love to get my boobs done, cant even fill a double A cup and find I can't wear a lot of nice clothes.

Mammyloveswine · 14/10/2017 08:21

Promised myself a nose job by 30... not had it done as bought a house and had DC, in the next few years I'm definitely having it done tho!Even had a consultation a few years ago!

gttia · 14/10/2017 08:50

I've had my ears pinned back. They don't feel normal to touch and one is a bit pointy but I love them flat against my head
