To be annoyed at this text from my personal trainer?

I had to have minor surgery just over a week ago and the hospital told me before and after that I cannot exercise (including gym, swimming and most annoying sex) for 4 weeks after this.

I made my PT aware that I wouldnt be able to come to the gym until the end of this month. He has text me today asking if I will be in class tomorrow. I said no and reminded him of the ban and responded saying "lets hope you dont put weight on"

AIBU to be a bit pissed by his response? Im sure there was no malice but surely there's a better response? And Im not actively looking to nor do I need to lose weight.

If you want to make him squirm the reply along the lines

Oh shouldn't be a problem as the frequent diarrhoea and vomiting from the procedure should make sure I don't put on weight - though thanks so much for the concern

(Though if he's thick skinned and an utter muppet he might not get the sarcasm)

Twat and more importantly shit PT. I've had the same PT for years and he would never say anything like that. The PT/ client relationship is very personal and if you don't click it's not worth it. The industry isn't regulated enough and he's a knobhead. Bin him.

kazlau · 11/10/2017 21:11

Shockingly insensitive of him. I wouldn’t be giving him any more of my time or money!

IllegalBlonde · 11/10/2017 21:17

Unsupportive wanker. Find a PT who has some manners! Lots of luck with your procedure and wishing you back to good health asap.

flumpybear · 12/10/2017 00:46

Have you not had a conversation to the effect of I’m having surgery and under dictors orders I can’t xyz and how can this work got out PT time? Get him bloody working for his money?!

Littlenic73 · 12/10/2017 01:02

At the end of the day, if you are employing the services of a personal trainer and you feel uncomfortable with them, you're the boss, you are well within your rights to employ someone else. If they were doing their job properly they would be looking out for your overall health and wellbeing. BTW, why did you employ them in the first place, what was your goal and have you achieved it with them?

Catwaving · 12/10/2017 08:28

Hardly anyone has picked up on the OPs comment that he often talks about the gym members he fancies. That would make me feelvery very uncomfortable!!!!
I'm sure the gym would want to know about this.

Very unprofessional/creepy

houghtonk76 · 12/10/2017 09:17

Get a new PT stat & explain to the guy that his text was offensive & you no longer wish to be his customer as a result.

He'll soon learn that being a twazzock costs him money & might be a bit more professional next time.

Regards the whole banter with mates theory some are proposing: he's not her mate, he's a personal trainer & presumbly self-employed business man. You don't "banter" with your customers.

Pastorkidneys · 12/10/2017 09:22

You beat me to it catwaving think i’d be more put out by the comments about new members being his next prey!

Would you feel comfortable handing over your cash again?

houghtonk76 · 12/10/2017 09:29

RE: joking bout other gym goers - he's a total dickhead & a hugely unprofessional one at that. As he knows about the background - defo should not be encouraging you to train. Find someone more professional.
