To be really looking forward to going to ikea? What should I buy?

I haven't been to ikea for a couple of years, and next week will be less than half an hour from one, so of course I'm going. I've been looking through the website to try to make a list, but it doesn't work so well for browsing when you don't know what you're looking for. What are your ikea must haves? And AIBU for looking forward to going?

The 'Octopus' is for hanging socks etc on with clothes pegs on it,and a hook to go on washing line and an Octupus face Grin. They were £3 when we bought one last year.

Whaddayamean, “it’s a coffee table”??

talulahbeige · 06/10/2017 10:48

I love octopus so much I have 4!
There also ace for hanging kids clothes off to dry too. No peg marks and saves space.
If you have bigger things to hang then you hang the clothes more diagonally

This, I bought it on a whim! It’s the best buy ever. Easy clean, folds down, sturdy and fits under the sofa. Perfect height to eat your tea from on a Saturday! Ours is currently in use as a lego table

Standingcat · 06/10/2017 10:55

Don't buy the chicken with sweet potato fries, get meat balls and some bar cheesecake

ButchyRestingFace · 06/10/2017 10:58

I’m waiting in for my Kalashnikov bookcase delivery today. 😍

ButchyRestingFace · 06/10/2017 11:00

Er, that did say Kallax bookcase before autocorrect went cray cray.

😭

WashBasketsAreUs · 06/10/2017 11:01

My American friends were totally amazed at my Soctopus. Never seen one before. Savages.

granny24 · 06/10/2017 11:06

We recently got one in The Algarve. Meatballs were one of the few things I missed from UK.

Minniemarshmallows · 06/10/2017 11:08

Grin ButchyRestingFace

Can be lethal that autocorrect!

MeriReu · 06/10/2017 11:10

We move in two weeks and I'm so excited for the Ikea tripGrin
Ordering the furniture to be delivered because it won't all fit in our car but I can't wait to fill the trolley with dinky unnecessary items 😄

ArchchancellorsHat · 06/10/2017 11:22

Linen teatowels, so much better than the cotton ones
The ground coffee is really good, much better than I expected for the price and comes in a sort of blue grey brick
Lunch tubs for taking your packed lunch in
Cork coasters and heat mats
I also got metal kitchen shelves and lots of hooks for hanging things on said shelves. Very handy
And meatballs. And loads of other stuff

Sugarformyhoney · 06/10/2017 11:30

I use the octopus for drying kids paintings

Danceswithwarthogs · 06/10/2017 11:47

Make sure you don't get anything too big for your car.... Or put stuff on that bottom shelf of your trolley and forget to take it home...

PoohBearsHole · 06/10/2017 11:53

Sandwich bags - they wash well too 😳
Washing up brushes
Loo brushes
Candles
Magazine holders

Oh how I love it for crap I don't need!

MrKaplan · 06/10/2017 12:00

The new red oven gloves made of silicone. They are LEGEND.
You can turn food with them. Then just rinse them after. And they are grippy. I use them to open jars.

DrCoconut · 06/10/2017 12:09

Kex biscuits.

Etymology23 · 06/10/2017 12:12

More things; My friends have some knives from there that are good. Washing up brushes also.

MrsNai · 06/10/2017 12:21

Ligonberry cordial
Elderflower cordial
Frozen potato rostis (safe for Coeliacs and so yummy)

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 06/10/2017 12:23

Wooooo!

Ikea trip!!!

I do actually need to go and buy storage boxes to stop crap falling out of cupboards.
And sandwich bags
And things.

bastardlyandmutley · 06/10/2017 12:23

I'm going for my birthday day out. Now that is devotion!

We always buy the bags of frozen hot dogs, this amazing mustard and dill sauce (It goes great with the Christmas gammon) and their spiced biscuits.

Agree that tealights are godd, ditto plants & wrapping paper. I always buy loads of paper napkins and their cheapy teatowels. I quite like their dining stuff too and have a cupboard rammed with random bowls & plates. Last time we went they had these bargain little paring knives with a plastic cover (blue or grey). They were a good buy.
