To ask my neighbour to stop people from asking for him at my house?!

The house next to me has been remodelled into small flats and rooms, it's currently being used as a halfway house/probation hostel (not too sure what the set up is but lots of drug dealing, comings and goings, and new people showing up every few months). It's the bane of my life to be honest.
A lot of people seem to want to get hold of the 'main guy' who lives there. Last week a man was hammering on my front door, windows and stood shouting up at the house until I got up out of bed, kids scared, and asked him what he wanted. He said 'is this the flats I've been sent here' (he was incoherent for the most part). I said 'no it's next door you want '. Similar thing happened again a couple of days later.
Just now I was stood washing up when someone knocked on my back door, asking if the guy next door was in. I jumped out of my skin! You can't access my garden unless you jump over the wall from next door. This man thought nothing of it. I don't feel secure here anymore, should I tell the man people keep bothering me asking for him? Not that I see him much and very much try to steer clear!

Can't you put a sign on your door saying something like "This is not 20 Acacia Gardens Flats, they're that way" with an arrow?

I would report this to both the police, the council and the probation services.

God, that's awful op! If a probation hostel is it not possible to complain to the probation service? And he certainly shouldn't be dealing, that'll get him sent straight back to prison! Maybe try googling the address to find out more.

You need front and back cameras to record evidence of all this and report every single event to the relevant authorities. they'll soon get the picture and do something about it. Why are you letting this happen? Be proactive get it sorted or possibly look to move.

I was going to suggest what Ceto said about a sign saying 'Not ABC flats, they are next door --> '. You'll still get some idiots who just don't look, but it might cut the numbers down at least.

Oh no, the police don't bat an eyelid. The dealing is anything but discreet but...I'm not trying to turn this into a police-bash so I'll just stop there.
I'm going to look into probation services now to get some contact details, I can't believe I didn't think of that. I just try not to pay too much attention to the goings on, but when it's actually on my literal doorstep and affecting the children, I'm much more bothered.

Talk to the staff. I worked a LOT in a couple of these type of places and we really wanted to keep the neighbours happy.

The police will give a shit if they are on probation.

You're not reporting regularly enough or with enough conviction if no one seems to be bothered.

I'm at a loss now, because it isn't listed anywhere online as a bail hostel.
I assumed it was because it was gutted then made into the small flats with a shared kitchen, with a turnover of residents and attracting criminality. Then a while ago, possibly related to a lot of complaints, everyone left and it was boarded up. A woman came round a few times asking if I'd seen her son as he hadn't been in context with her for months, but I was unable to help. Then a few weeks later, the metal grids came down and if was the same set up as before.

You'll have to take my word for it, this police force is either depleted of resources or has other things on their agenda. It's historically institutionally corrupt if that makes any difference. I've been attacked myself in the past and they sent someone out to give me a crime number about a week later.

OP why don't you google your post code and road name. See if it comes up as a listed address may give you some kind of indication what it actually is.

@MrsTerryPratchett there are no staff so I'm not sure what to do now other than ring the council

In which case it may not be officially a hostel. If you have a charity in your area that works with offenders, you could call and ask them.

More likely it’s a cheap rent place that is known to offenders or people that work with them. Complain a lot to anyone that will listen. I sympathize!

Speak to your local borough / district councillor Duck. They will hopefully be interested. You should be able to find their name on the council website.

I work in a probation hostel (approved premises). If it is an AP there will be staff there who will take this very seriously. Sounds like the behaviour is a breach of licence conditions so it's instant recall.

Who is this main man? Is he the manager? Or is he a resident?

I've just googled the property again, according to 192.com, the last time it was sold was in 1996, which can't be right :/ it was a private rental for ages before it was, I thought, sold then renovated.
Thank you, I can think of a few local charities, a restorative justice one and a community rehab one but don't really know if I'd be barking up the wrong tree getting in touch with them.

If this is a house run by a statutory or charitable organisation then they need to know that this is happening. Contact whoever manages it first

I sadly don't find it hard to believe the police won't do anything about it OP. There is a crack/heroin dealer living in some flats on our road and there is a constant stream of addicts walking around the area day and night. Loads of people have reported it (as they go to smoke and shoot up in our back lane) but nothing is done. Our town has had a huge influx of young men just out of prison recently, DP has had a lot of them come up to him to ask if he knows where they can find dealers to set up their own operations (presumably because he is a young mixed race guy and wears tracksuits on lazy days)

A sign on your window with a big arrow is probably the best and most workable option, cctv might be useful too although it won't necessarily act as a deterrent or convince them that your house isn't the drug dealers home as they often have their own cctv. Do you have other neighbours who could back you up and also complain?
