To be fed up of the s**t sleeves fashion trend

Desperate to find some decent work tops, but the only options seem to be either ballon sleeves, or sleeves with tons of pointless lace and frills attached. I'm the sort of person who dresses more for comfort and likes to sling a cardi over the top if it get cold, which doesn't lend itself to bell sleeves particularly well. Plus who comes up with the patterns? All nauseating florals that subtlety forgot. I'm also quite short with short arms, so I look bloody ridiculous. Some people seem to carry this look off, I am definitely not one of them.

Am I the only person who wants this trend to eff off ASAP?

Are there any shops that have ignored this trend completely. I have been in the usual high street shops and can't find anything.

I just recently came across what I thought were going to be the perfect work trousers; slim leg ankle length, perfect fit. BUT they had slash pockets on the side with ruffles sewn on the outer edge of the pockets. You know, so that your hips will look big and rufflely.

BlackPepperCrab · 04/10/2017 18:38

Saw a shirt today with clear plastic sleeves à la Topshop and their clear plastic pants. Hmm

kali110 · 04/10/2017 18:41

I like cold shoulder topS, but i want long sleeves, not batwing or ruffles just normal long sleeves.
Everywhere is three quarters!
One shop not one top with long sleeves!

kali110 · 04/10/2017 18:42

Famous designer has done this, they're hideous Confused i don't see the point.

Sidge · 04/10/2017 18:52

Clothes are shite lately.

Cold shoulder tops.

Jeans with slashed legs.

Boots with peep toes.

Jumpers with random bits missing.

If I’m paying out for clothes I want the whole item, not some weird mangled version exposing my pale cold flesh.

BlackPepperCrab · 04/10/2017 18:52

Just, why. Confused

"Ribbon left over from last Christmas Dress"

LifeOfBriony · 04/10/2017 20:41

Thanks to the pp who suggested Wallis. I shall go there on Saturday.

Whatjusthappenedexactly · 04/10/2017 20:53

I keep catching my ballon sleeved blouse on bloody door handles, resulting in spilt wine!!!!

Worst fashion invention every Angry

timshortfforthalia · 04/10/2017 20:54

Uniqlo

badbadhusky · 04/10/2017 20:59

I've been through loooong stretches where I do not buy clothes when everything in the shops is very similar and not to my taste.

But we are about 3 years into this stupidity. At a certain point even the most durable outfits start to look tired and need replacing. What the hell are we supposed to do?

NeverTwerkNaked · 04/10/2017 20:59

Even the model looks pissed off to be wearing that @Katescurios

Longdistance · 04/10/2017 21:03

Cold shoulder and flute sleeves can just go fuck off!

AethelflaedsWhiteGoose · 04/10/2017 21:11

Completely agree and basic v-neck tops/jumpers are rarer than hens teeth. Finally found one in Oasis Oasis black top

Fromage · 04/10/2017 21:21

Oh hello, my people.

Bellend sleeves.
Clothes with bits bitten out of them.
Peekaboo fucking wellies ffs.
Seventies wallpaper patterns on clothes, when nobody liked them in the seventies anyway.

What is wrong with people? I usually sigh sadly at lovely clothes, because there is no way my arse, gut or norks would ever fit into something fashionable but Oh. My. Christ. Wtf is going on, fashion buyers? Are you all on acid? Stop putting shiny orange with white stripes, gathered wanker sleeved, frilly spined clothes on the racks.

I want to buy a fucking top, not look like I've picked a fight with a sewing machine in a haberdasher's, and lost. Badly.

If I want to look like an arsehole, I'll encourage moths in my wardrobe, dye everything avocado green and accessorise with a lampshade frill across my chest, like a gunslinger/cowboy hybrid.

nigelsbigface · 05/10/2017 07:00

Same. Oliver bonas have some tops and jumpers with regular sleeves...worth a look but a bit $$$

RobotGoat · 05/10/2017 08:15

Yes! I normally find myself looking in the shops, can't find anything, and end up going to the charity shops instead. Lots of different styles in there, so you don't have to be subjected to the whims of awful fashion designers!

brownmouse · 05/10/2017 08:22

Nancy I went into Asda to buy that jumper and then saw the hole! At first I just thought that the first jumper had come unstitched.... then I realise it was the whole rail.... AWFUL

ButterflyOrchid · 05/10/2017 08:24

I saw a lovely winter coat in Debenhams but it had the bloody 'lampshade' frilly sleeves, on a winter coat!!!

Those of you wanting plain jumpers and cardies need to get yourselves to Bon Marche!

MissWilmottsGhost · 05/10/2017 08:27

I wouldn't mind the shops selling this 'fashion' shite if they would also sell some normal, practical stuff too.

But all the shops sell identical stupid clothes in garish colours and it's impossible to find anything different.

Phalenopsisgirl · 05/10/2017 08:31

Omg I thought I must be just getting old and loosing touch! Most of these styles are totally unflattering to anyone over size 10 or who has any sort of bust.

MissWilmottsGhost · 05/10/2017 08:32

I shouldn't click on the links on threads like this. I'm still getting adverts for hideous pink bell sleeved dresses after I had a look at the M&S one everyone was laughing about Sad

Lweji · 05/10/2017 08:37

BlackPepperCrab

Even though I'm a hater of most things frilly, I quite like the red top in the middle. :)
It would probably accommodate by boobs and disguise my post-40s tummy.
And I love that red too.
Not sure about the fabric.

Lweji · 05/10/2017 08:39

MissWilmottsGhost

Search for something else, like bras or furniture and you'll get different adverts within 30 sec.
