To think Boden have made a huge mistake.

They've just put out a new mum video, showing lots of successful instagrammers and their children head to toe in Boden.

However, these IG people and children are rarely dressed in Boden, if ever.

But just because they've got a lot of followers Boden hand it all out to people who don't actually treasure the brand.

There are 100s of dedicated Boden mums who treasure every piece of Boden, why can't Boden ever reward their loyal customers rather than give it out to people who don't even buy it.

I know a lot of people are outraged about this. When I look at IG I search the #bodenbyme and always see lots of normal families without 300k followers dressing their littlies in Boden. It's a shame that brand lovers never are appreciated when they are what keep the business going, if I was Johnnie I'd be getting hold of these families and working together to promote real Boden loving Mums and not just people who are in it for the cash or freebies.

This has made my day. Mumsnet rocks!

krustykittens · 02/10/2017 21:46

Good Lord, OP, have you only just found out that life isn't fair? And I am laughing at your line 'treasure every piece'. It's not like you are buying vintage Alexander McQueen, is it? Although you would get laid in his gear. But if this is a troll thread, bravo! 'Tis original and funny!

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 21:47

Llareggub: That feeling of not knowing who you 'are' and what to wear after children is a real thing, isn't it? Hope things are good for you now, whatever you wear. Smile

Ktown · 02/10/2017 21:47

What the fudge? There is no way Boden will want me photographed in their clothes. Sized 10-12 in a 1950s 3 bed with rubbish decor.
They need glam not your average dudes.

krustykittens · 02/10/2017 21:48

And we get your point. You spend a fuckton of money on Boden clothes and think it is very unfair they don't give you free stuff to say thank you. But as others have pointed out, that's not how advertising works.

paxillin · 02/10/2017 21:48

Boden's problem is they want to sell to the middle aged, middle class, middle sized mums. Those same customers of course want to look fun, fabulous, or, as you do, slick. So they can't have their target audience do the ads.

H&M or TopShop appeal to a young, often still quite awkward and tribal audience. They don't want to look young, awkward and tribal. So they, too, engage the beautiful or famous.

I have the insta style house and items.
I don't want fame.

I just want customer loyalty to become a thing.

“Fair opportunity for all” Confused

It’s mail order clothes, not an athletics competition

Does this model meritocracy policy of yours only apply to Boden, or should other brands do it as well..?

Esspee · 02/10/2017 21:49

Tell me this is a wind up........please!

HoneyIshrunkthebiscuit · 02/10/2017 21:49

We get your point we just don't agree with it.

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 21:49

It's not a wind up.

Like I've already said, I despair

This is distracting me from the TV, it’s hilarious, though I did think it would be about some faux pas like some of the M&S stuff

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 21:50

Atleast this may help labour come along with this level of stress.

thecatfromjapan · 02/10/2017 21:51

wellies On a serious note - don't spend lots of money on baby clothes. It's really not worth doing that.

I'm glad for you that you've found a clothing brand you're comfortable with.

DonkeyOaty · 02/10/2017 21:51

Oh yeah, Boden is totes pas à la mode.

Bollox I think my accent is going the WRONG WAY

Sparklesocks · 02/10/2017 21:51

What a strange thing to get upset about...

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 02/10/2017 21:51

Boden sent out a free scarf to all of their customers a few years ago.

IamScarfaceClaw · 02/10/2017 21:52

Are you @phillisnights sister OP? Wink

dinosaursandtea · 02/10/2017 21:52

Oh my god, this is the best entertainment I've had in ages. And yeah right, OP - I'm sure your house is juuuuust like all those instagrammers and the only reason you're not flooded with endorsements is because you just "don't want the fame".

welliesandpuddles · 02/10/2017 21:52

I don't want to be sent free gifts.

I want families who treasure the company to be treated as nicely as ones who aren't really Bodeners at all.

LightastheBreeze · 02/10/2017 21:53

I’ve still got my scarf, it was a pink spotty one

GetOutOfMYGarden · 02/10/2017 21:53

OP, why send £300 worth of stock to some random with 40 followers when they can send it to an instamummy with 40,000? The point of PR freebies is to get exposure. I've had freebies because I've got a couple of thousand followers on instagram, it's not because I'm a loyal customer or anything.

Goldfishshoals · 02/10/2017 21:53

Who has the time to read anything like that, blogs and stuff, who has a normal life? shock

If you had the time to read this thread you're in no position to judge how others spend their time. ..

pootlepootle · 02/10/2017 21:53

thecatfromjapan just interested in business and did a decent spot of googling. not more informed than that.

it would appear that 2/5 of their revenue is now coming from the US which is excellent for them as they're likely to be paying their suppliers in USD.

Miserylovescompany2 · 02/10/2017 21:54

Boden from age 2 to 3 - at least you'll get a years worth of wear!
