In the super market today and heard a mum shout "beige" to her daughter...no joke! At first I thought I had misheard Paige...but no, definitely beige.

Got me thinking... what are the worst names you have come across?

SuperBeagle I’m afraid your excuse of being in Australia doesn’t add up as Mabel is on the most popular baby names list there.

So that leaves you with chavvy.

SignoraCarmignola · 02/10/2017 11:15

TashieWoo I love the name Magnus.

There again two of my children's names are in this list: Biblical or royal. Henry, James, John, Mark, Michael, Dianne, Margaret etc So what the fuck do I know? I was named something a bit wayout for which I was teased a lot, so I gave my kids traditional and unremarkable names. Just goes to show, whatever you name your child someone is going to find fault.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 02/10/2017 11:18

Others are Hartlie and Magnus for boys and London for a girl

Magnus is an absolutely wonderful name.

freshlemons · 02/10/2017 11:19

A friend of mine has daughters who both have the diminutives of the same name - Elizabeth. Does my head in.

MissJSays · 02/10/2017 11:20

Avaya
I can’t work out how I feel about it, does anyone else have any opinions?

StringyPotatoes · 02/10/2017 11:21

An acquaintance has called her son Jaxxon.
Jackson isn't to my taste but is a perfectly nice, normal name. Why butcher the spelling to something which doesn't actually say what you want it to say?!?

FridayFreddo · 02/10/2017 11:24

I actually quite like Beowulf. You could call him Wulfie for short :)

AngeloMysterioso · 02/10/2017 11:25

A friend of mine has just had a baby which they've called Dottie. Not short for anything... just Dottie.

FloControl · 02/10/2017 11:25

Magnus is definitely a good name. Very strong and powerful sounding. It would suit a large majestic dog breed as well, such as a Great Dane. I couldn't call a poodle Magnus.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 02/10/2017 11:26

I'm not slating any particular names, as I also think it's rotten to see your children's names crop up in these threads. However, I'm not crazy about the trend of hyphenating two names, usually a two-syllable-then-one-syllable job.

The names that are popularly used are usually nice ones, but putting them together tends to reduce the appeal somehow.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 02/10/2017 11:27

There was Magnus Pyke and Magnus Magnusson. So that name can't be all that bad...can it?

ChuffMuffin · 02/10/2017 11:34

I know of a girl called Naia, pronounced Nigh-a. Nothing wrong with that name in itself, it's quite pretty, but it makes me cringe as phonetically in my husband's language it means whore! Shock

RoboticSealpup · 02/10/2017 11:35

I once meet a (male) estate agent called Evol. It's 'Love' backwards... How nice. A shame it sounds like 'Evil'.

I also once knew a white guy called Aynsley. He used to lie about his name because he was so embarrassed.

To me, Magnus is a (slightly dorky) Scandinavian name that was popular in the 1960's. But I guess it's also used in other countries.

Hohofortherobbers · 02/10/2017 11:36

There are plenty of perfectly nice names on here, who gives a toss if some random doesn't like the name Michael? If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all

ChuffMuffin · 02/10/2017 11:38

Also about ten years ago saw a boy in our then local paper called Burberry. His surname also began with a B. Blush.

A girl called Antonio.

And there was a lad in my area growing up called Nike. I know it's a legitimate Greek name, but 1. it's a female given name and 2. I don't think his mum was particularly interested in greek mythology!

Nazdarovye · 02/10/2017 11:40

Jerusalem.
Ashton Kutcher
Shia Labouf

user1473069303 · 02/10/2017 11:40

These are French names as I'm not in the UK:

Timéo, Matéo and Titouan.

Some people give their children cutesy kiddie names, forgetting that they'll have to live with those names as adults. Poor kids.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2017 11:40

The worst name I've come across is user with a whole load of numbers after it. I mean why, just why?

CaptainAmericasShield · 02/10/2017 11:41

I enjoy these threads but they could be upsetting for some I imagine.

My 3 have, many would say, boring names. All in the top 20 lists. But they are classic, don't require explanation or spelling and I like them! Also, so far, they are the only ones in their respective classes with those names.

CakesRUs · 02/10/2017 11:42

Justique 😂 no way!!!

Chardonnay. Poor poor child.

I hate Dwayne, Shayne and Wayne too. And Shaun.

insancerre · 02/10/2017 11:42
Grin Soup
Nazdarovye · 02/10/2017 11:42

Magnus is an embarrassing name. It reminds me of ice cream (Magnum)

Trampire · 02/10/2017 11:43

Early on in this thread I thought the tone was really about the most unusual/bizarre/weird name you'd come across -

Not just people saying which names they don't like. Doesn't take long does it.

Oh and my ds's name is normally always mentioned a few times.....

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 02/10/2017 11:44

Whoever put Chardonnay on the list is ignorant. It's a very pretty name, a classic in the making.

NinonDeLenclos · 02/10/2017 11:45

Glumdalclitch & Boy-Boy Angel win hands down.
