To spend £150 on something I don't need but want very much?

I need new underwear. I have £130 worth of pants and 2 bras in my shiopping basket. My current underwear is all a bit mingling and stretchy.

ANd then I found the most beautiful perfect thing i have been looking for for ever. Something I really really really want. I dont need it though. It's not practical, it doesn't do anything, but I want it.

So which should I buy?

My neighbour has some light up Kings. She plugs them in and puts them in her window every Christmas.

Each to their own I suppose. I can't get my head round the pp that said a Nativity set would give them "shudders of ecstacy" Confused.

I've splurged £150 on hair straighteners that I really wanted in my life though.

Esspee most utterly pointless and boasty post all rolled into one, well done you!!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/10/2017 20:21

Schadenfreude...too much to do, too little energy. Maybe I'll make one thing each year. I'll start with the Donkey, he's my favourite!

ferriswheel · 02/10/2017 20:23

Tippz is your kindest friend. Don't buy any of it.

MrsGrindah · 02/10/2017 20:32

Is it just me or do the figures look a bit...um..melted?!

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 02/10/2017 20:33

Was anyone else hoping it was this one....

Just get it both, you are worth it! If it makes you happy and you don't need to rob anyone go for it....that's what's money for😀

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 02/10/2017 20:34

This one is a little more expensive but quite practical....

get the nativity set coz Yay Christmas and you sound like you deserve a treat and then buy some cheap underwear that will do until you can next afford nice stuff (I find Asda underwear surprisingly comfy for cheap stuff)

LuckLuckLUCK · 02/10/2017 20:48

I think it's just you MrsGrindah

Benedikte2 · 02/10/2017 21:01

I enjoy nativity sets as a part of the tradition of Christmas. Most people, irrespective of beliefs enjoy a good Carol and exchange gifts.
Think you've done the right thing Moist. The very fact that it will be got out of storage every year means you will get that buzz time and time again as you set it up.
Have a great Christmas with family, friends and your new creche!

SherbrookeFosterer · 02/10/2017 22:11

Do it. Get it out of your system.

I was in NYC a year ago and I saw some pyjamas with a "Boys Are Smelly" print.

They just made me laugh, but for some reason I didn't buy them.

Honestly, now every time I put on pyjamas I think about them and wish I had. A year later!

TheNoodlesIncident · 02/10/2017 23:25

I'm quite tempted by this one. I have already bought these sweeties.

I am not actually religious at all.

Hope Op's gives her happy thoughts henceforth, except the the risk is now she'll mostly remember this thread when she looks at it...

I know I would, that's why I was getting distressed at anyone disliking it. Such a thread would spoil it for me, which is ridiculous since anything like that is purely personal judgement.

Enjoy your nativity OP Smile

Noodles that's super cute.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/10/2017 04:28

Ineedmore - that Henry etc. one is BRILLIANT! I love it. Now I almost want to work in a shop that sells them, just to create that in the shop window!
Not so keen on the hipster one, although I appreciate the humour - but way too expensive!

MOIST · 03/10/2017 08:24

I lost insterest in this days ago. Concentration span of a tea bag.
My delight will not be spoilt. Instead the phrase 'aggressively atheist' keeps making me weep with laughter. And my new packet pants are acceptable.

OP
To clarify- did you mean that if you buy the nativity set you'll get a few more extra things from the food bank?

MOIST · 03/10/2017 09:14

Yes.
And we can slaughter the goat DD got for being disabled.
Win win.

Come to think of it I have a house I bought cash, a car I bought cash, and no credit card. Everyone has their own priorities. Enjoy you ornament.

Well, we all have our different gifts and disappointments, don't we? For instance, you were able to buy a house in cash but you're a horrible person. Swings and roundabouts.

Daisymaybe60 · 03/10/2017 09:30

When a local china shop closed down, I staggered home with a big nativity stable on the lines of Allegretto's pizza oven (but sadly it doesn't light up). 75% off, but with three under 4s I could have spent the money more wisely, and my pants were probably disgraceful.

I still love it. There's a note in the box for when I fall under the bus. "This stable is Lladro and worth something. The figures are Wilko and not."

Enjoy your nativity, MOIST.

millymae · 03/10/2017 09:52

Haven't read the whole thread but I'd get the Nativity - you want it, it will give you pleasure and it will last for years and years.
I've found with expensive underwear that the nice feeling you get when you buy it doesn't last - the knickers are either that little bit too tight or too big and the bras are not as comfy or fit you as well that you thought they did.

morningconstitutional2017 · 03/10/2017 10:13

Does the perfect thing make your heart sing? Does your old underwear make your heart sink? Can you find a balance somewhere in the middle?

I'd get the perfect thing and buy some new underwear and budget accordingly so that the old mingy stuff doesn't have to be tolerated too much longer.

treacletoffee23 · 03/10/2017 10:16

I want the " boys are smelly jim jams" and the Nativity please

MmmmmmmChips · 03/10/2017 11:21

If you're meant that if you buy the nativity then you'll get more items from the food bank then that's disgusting and you are VVVVU
