Anathema - especially their Weather Systems album and particularly Dreaming Light from We're Here Because We're Here - the youtube video always makes me cry.

Pink floyd for me too, also roger waters solo stuff. I just love his voice, it has so much passion.

I'm sticking to bands, as my list is already waaay too long....
The Beatles, for all the reason Yoko said. They did change everything. Innovative, eclectic and left an incredible legacy.
Pink Floyd, perfect music, intelligent, thoughtful and sometimes poignant lyrics, simply (one of) the best
Led Zeppelin, rock gods with amazing lead singer
The Nice, precursor to ELP, classically influenced, virtuoso keyboard.
Free, bluesy rock with great singer,
Steeleye Span, perfect voices and harmonies.

Listen to 'Magnificent' for a really uplifting gorgeously melodic tune.

I love Gilbert O'Sullivan. I used to fall asleep to a tape of his music as a child and find his voice very soothing.

Simon and Garfunkle. If they ever toured again, I would literally give my right arm to see them.

Their music has been a constant throughout my life.

Madonna - cos she is just the QUEEN

Gaga - her voice is amazing and I think she will be around for a very long time.

Queen - the words to Radio Gaga are such an insight.

Erasure - fucking brilliant. The lyrics they get into their songs are just beautiful and just shouldn't sound right in catchy pop tunes, but work perfectly.

Radiohead - intelligent content, great vocals, innovative music, excellent live, THE BENDS.
