I know politicians have speech writers but..... so much God, prayers and scriptures.....and feck all about guns...and yes Across such insincerity.

I just watched Trumps speech, I've give him his due in that he read the script that was obviously written for him without his usual wanderings or sly digs. For a speech to the country, it was a good one.

Like Across says though, total insincerity. He can't empathise, so he'll never be able to pull that off. I have a family member like that, the difference is he knows it, and he can't understand why he can't feel things for others, and he tries his hardest, even asking what he should do or feel in certain situations. He tries hard to put others first, and yeah he fails a lot but at least he tries. He can be very blunt sometimes hurtfully so but to him it's just normal, he's not trying to hurt anyone so he tries not to be so blunt. It's a fake type of feeling for him but it works for the most part.

Trump simply doesn't care to learn how to stop making people hate him imo. It's fun for him.

The clip shown on Sky news of the end of the concert when the shooting started- it sounded like very rapid machine gun fire. Many hundreds of rounds.

I agree Cavemum - after Sandy Hook I know that gun owners in the US have no hearts. And I mean anyone who owns a gun - whatever their beliefs.

I find gun ownership a bit like healthcare in that the American attitude to it is so vastly different to the mainstream British view I find it almost impossible to even come close to understanding it. How you can defend such easy access to guns when you have mass shootings on an almost daily basis is something I just can't get my head around.
