Mine has to be the long loud argument between my neighbours about anal sex. It went on for 15 hours. Such gems as her screaming at him " anyone who wants to fuck a woman up the arse must be a fucking poof anyway". She had her period and wasn't in the mood. All at the top of their voices. For 15 hours. Charming.

This is exactly the type of thread that the DM likes.

Well done OP.

Don't overshare people.

SlothMama · 28/09/2017 21:51

How is this OP's fault that the Daily Mail has lazy talentless writers working for it?

Carouselfish · 28/09/2017 21:51

YorkshireYummy That is so awful but so funny and unexpected I'm crying with laughter.
Sadly I'm sitting in the same room as my mum and I really don't want to have to tell her what I'm laughing about.

FakePlasticTeaLeaves · 28/09/2017 21:54

This was when I was much younger, but I once went to bed early at a party at my fairly new boyfriends house. I say early, it was 3am, but people were still up and was staying there and knackered.

When I was on the landing going to the bathroom, I heard all his friends downstairs slagging me off saying I was boring as fuck :-(

MaidOfStars · 28/09/2017 21:54
  1. My Mum telling her friend that I 'needed taking down a peg or two'. I cried. Unfortunately, my husband also overheard and thundered into the room shouting at her. Never heard him shout before.
  2. A man on a train, slagging his mate for 'working with Pakis, ugh you love them, didn't know you love ragheads' and various other delights. A third friend apologised at my face agape, 'Don't listen to him, love'. That snapped me. Other people were hearing this and just letting it go? And I was one of them? Bawled him out then ran to the other end if the train in case he kicked off.
  3. A group of newbie med students on a bus, loudly discussing what they'd done in anatomy class with donated bodies, shrieking with laughter at some points. I very calmly yet very firmly informed them that I'd hope they develop some discretion during their education, and that it was not appropriate conversation for the general public, specifically when one of their future lecturers is three seats in front of them.
icantlikethat · 28/09/2017 21:57

Just coming slowly round in recovery after an operation and feeling the nurses pulling down my hospital gown when someone said "you shouldn't be checking her pad when the porters are in the room" Shock

TakeAnadin · 28/09/2017 21:57

Ugh! How ugly... all of this makes me think of my ex friend who was so appallingly coarse and cruel .. Still makes my blood boil.

caringdenise009 · 28/09/2017 21:59

Thank you slothmama Smile

And maidofstars, what a lovely husbandSmile

My parents talking when I was about 9.

"There's something wrong with you" was the narrative of my childhood/teenage years (and twenties and thirties) and "We'll take you to a child psychiatrist" was a threat that was often thrown at me throughout my childhood.

When I was 9, I overheard my mother saying that she wouldn't take me to a child psychiatrist because if she did, it would end up on my 'permanent record' and I'd never get into the good secondary school, or go to university or get a job and they'd be stuck with me forever.

I wish they had. I was diagnosed with Aspergers a couple of years ago.

In hospital at 19, very very ill, in isolation. Overheard doctor tell nurse to contact my parents to come in immediately as he didn't expect me to live the night. (Spoiler alert, I did. 😉)

toldmywrath · 28/09/2017 22:11

pinkheart Flowers God people can be so cruel.

fairyofallthings · 28/09/2017 22:12

A colleague saying that a woman who was raped wasn't raped by a stranger so she must have done something which made it happen.

Christmastree43 · 28/09/2017 22:13

An ex boyfriend pocket dialling me when I was on the train down to visit him - heard him complaining to his/ our mutual friends 'I don't know why she's coming down again, I saw her last week it's getting pathetic' or something along those lines. I was very low at that point in my life and that broke me.

Ended up staying at a friend's house instead that night where we had a heart to heart and both confessed that our boyfriends had cheated on us but we couldn't leave them. Was a grim night but cemented our friendship and we're still to this day so grateful to have had each other that night.

toldmywrath · 28/09/2017 22:14

Little Lights, I believe that is a jokey thing to say. Think about it, I gave her one is a euphemism. Not that funny, granted but I don't think it's cruel.

toldmywrath · 28/09/2017 22:15

Oh what fuckery, great spoiler alert! Grin

Athome77 · 28/09/2017 22:15

Seen not heard
Went to stay with my best friends mum and step dad (we were 20 years old), me best friend and her mum went to stay with some other family (several states away). We had a party, got drunk took some ecstasy, I passed out in a chair, open my eyes at some point and saw best friends mum shagging some guy who had come over on the sofa. Two days later we drove back to her mums house and had to spend a few days with the mum and dad before driving back to her home state.

I have still never told best friend, her mum died several years ago.

EmilyReallyKnowsHerStuff · 28/09/2017 22:18

Elderly lady ahead of me in the post office queue, racially abusing the guy behind the counter because he was trying to explain some kind of issue with her pension or something.

"Is there something wrong with your hearing, Darkie? Or do you NOT. SPEAK. ENGLISH?"

He's such a nice guy as well. He was visibly upset by it. I was cringing myself inside out.

Bluelonerose · 28/09/2017 22:21

Had a fb message saying tag everyone's mom in dd class coz the party venue had been changed. I tagged a few people to have the party mom message me to get rid of x off the message immediately as her dd was the only one not invited coz they don't like x Shock

I knew people disliked her (for absolutely no reason) but to delibritly exclude just one child coz you don't like the mom is vile and disgusting and broke my heart Sad

buckbeak · 28/09/2017 22:22

After my first stillbirth, I heard my DH quietly talking in the bathroom, he was on the phone to his girlfriend saying how much he loved and missed her. Broke my heart, and still does.

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 28/09/2017 22:28

Two teenage boys discussing scoring roofies ahead of a party that evening. They were sitting behind me and my kids on the train. I turned round and gave them my best Mum hard stare. If I didn’t have the kids with me I would have confronted them.

Athome77 · 28/09/2017 22:28

Buck did u get rid of him? That's really low of him.

ZippyCameBack · 28/09/2017 22:30

When I was revising for my GCSE's I used to sit in the quietest part of the library, where nobody else could see me. It was a boarding school, and this evening there were about 10 of us in the library doing prep and revision, only the others had obviously forgotten that I was there. They had a very long and detailed conversation about how they hated me, how disgusting I was, my clothes were so shabby compared to theirs, I had dozens of really disgusting habits and they really didn't know why people like me were allowed into the school.
Eventually, when I could stop crying and gather the courage, I put my head around the bookshelves between us and said something about being able to hear them. Not one of them cared, nobody batted an eyelid. After lights out a few of them continued to bitch about the nerve of me "listening in" to their conversation.

NerNerNerNerNerNerNerNerBATMAN · 28/09/2017 22:32

Once overheard two people on a train bragging about a crime they'd committed to a friend they'd bumped into on the train. It was so blatant and went on for ages so I recorded it on my phone and grassed them up to the British transport police. They got time. Serves them right.

Also overheard two women working behind the deli bar at morrisons discussing an affair one of them was having with a colleague, VERY graphic detail about his cock. Complained to store manager who went bright purple with rage - penny dropped that it was HIS cock they had been talking about Hmm

I'm not normally such a grass, honest, some people are just too stupid

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 28/09/2017 22:32

Rangers supporters on Saturday afternoon racially abusing random black people downtown in Glasgow. I know this goes on but was horrified to witness it. Funnily enough the teenagers behind me on the train were rangers supporters too. Scummy bastards (though I’m sure there are some normal ones too).
