Have you read a thread that has really stayed with you?

I always think of the foster mum, who sadly passed away. She was looking after lovely ladybird (I think that is what she called her) and her posts made me laugh and pulled at my heartstrings. I did feel utterly heartbroken when I read she had passed on and she truly has inspired me to go into foster caring in later years.

I think about the poster who was pregnant and found out about her DP having an affair, after he was in hospital because of a car crash. I wonder how she is getting on and hope she is doing well.

Whenever I think about the poster who accidentally took the case of prosecco (was it prosecco?!) and the following Christmas, she was given a single bottle only, I really chuckle.

OP posts:

Bonsoir had a brain tumour? ShockSad

LilaoftheGreenwood · 28/09/2017 19:52

Oh well if we're on those kinds of threads, the tupperware box of jizz!

It was the first thread I ever got hooked on, circa 2011. I don't think it ever made it into Classics sadly but somebody found one of those Hermann Cake (sp?) yeast offerings on her doorstep, and naturally concluded (as I would have done) that it was a tupperware box of jizz. And hilarity ensued.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 28/09/2017 19:53

x-post Lynette Sad Sorry, mine looks really inappropriate now. Such is Mumsnet.

I remember Bonsoir I think being very chic on the S&B threads?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 28/09/2017 19:55

A poster who wanted advice about her husband, who was pressuring her for sex. It turned out he'd been assaulting her, but as soon as people started talking about rape she got really angry and left the thread. I've seen many of these (I usually click on them because I went through the same thing) but that one stuck with me, and I really hope the thread laid the first seed and she's been able to leave him. I remember he was a farmer and they had primary/secondary aged children.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 28/09/2017 19:59

Daily I find there are recurring threads (esp in Relationships and AIBU) where it becomes slowly clear that something really, truly awful is happening and the OP gets angry or defensive or just quiet and then vanishes. And another similar thread pops up a few months later, and I don't know which is worse, that it's the same woman looking for a different "right" answer, or a different woman going through the same denial, or a troll.

MilesToGoBeforeISleep · 28/09/2017 19:59

Im relatively new to MN but I loved the unfolding love story of AVirginlitthecandle

Purdyandwheezy · 28/09/2017 20:03

I think about that Victorian safe from time to time.

MiddleClassProblem · 28/09/2017 20:04

Zombie, followed her journey for the 3 years I've been here and hope to do a knit when we are in the new house if they're still going then. Can't knit for shit 😁

The one with the bears

Then there are posters that I like seeing posts from but don't tend to start threads but I'm awful with names. I know them when I see them.

yumchoc · 28/09/2017 20:04

Rummers rainbow trisomy 18/Edwards' syndrome.
To this day I think of her

Lancelottie · 28/09/2017 20:09

I used to love threads that had Xenia and Bonsoir/Bobochic on at the same time.
So very different except in their utter conviction of being Completely Right.

miniyouinsideme · 28/09/2017 20:14

Another one who thinks of OpheliaRose often - would love to know how she is!

KatherinaMinola · 28/09/2017 20:18

Yes, me too Lance - some very well-aimed insults from Bonsoir on those Grin. I enjoy both their posts and used to enjoy scottishmummy's too, batshit as she was.

Xenia is around a lot but namechanges quite frequently. Sorry to hear about Bonsoir.

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 28/09/2017 20:26

Chaos and the religious fridge. Actually any chaos thread.

BikeRunSki · 28/09/2017 20:26

AtYourCervix

Brilliant username, took no prisoners.

notacooldad · 28/09/2017 20:42

I used to like posts from Deemented ( I think!!). She called her fella 'manshape' she gave people what for when they sniffly objected to that term!!

I liked HippyChick.
I didn't always agree with her views but there was one that seemed to disappear. I think she was Irish and the name was something like DaftPunk ( or similar). Things usually got interesting when her views were aired!

I quite liked LaQueens posts. She she still around.

I thought about the Riven episode the other week. It was an awful time when things went public. My memory is fading a bit but I remember it being a national story but didn't the prime minister or some one high up at the time get involved?

Always, always Zombie and CTK

I haven't seen Worra for a while but I'm not on much these days.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 28/09/2017 20:46

Bonsoir has a brain tumor. How very awful.

YetAnotherNC2017 · 28/09/2017 20:59

The foster lady really stuck with me too. Reading through the thread in classics watching her being up the drug addicted foster baby was harrowing.

I cried a few times reading it and at the end of the thread when I read she'd passed away Sad

fatimashortbread · 28/09/2017 21:02

The lady who had her neighbours destroy the windows on a listed building.

The lady who discovered the ground rent scam and some of her neighbours wanted to keep paying as they were too embarrassed to admit they had been scammed

Hebenon · 28/09/2017 21:02

Very sad indeed to hear about Bonsoir. If anyone is in touch, please let her know how sad at least one internet randomer is. I do hope everything goes OK for her and that her treatment is not too debilitating. She won't know who I am but I always enjoyed her posts and found her interesting.

KatherinaMinola · 28/09/2017 21:05

I liked Hippychick too. And Deemented was funny.

Worra and LaQueen are still around.

ChocolateWombat · 28/09/2017 21:12

The ones I have great respect for are Tiggytape, Admissions and prh47 who all post in response to school admissions queries, appeals etc. They offer fantastic, accurate advice to people who are often desperate or sometimes being screwed by the local authority....and their advice has helped loads of people to get school places which are rightfully theirs.
Huge respect to those ladies.

TheProdigalRhubarb · 28/09/2017 21:14

Hello peaceloveandbiscuits Smile

I limit my time here and mostly just lurk these days, as MN was eating up too much of my life - I had to go cold turkey for a while.

I still have too many lawns.

I hope you are well and happy. Flowers

ChocolateWombat · 28/09/2017 21:16

Oh and I love PigletJohn too.

Whenever someone in real life asks something, I say 'I will see what PigletJohn says' ....the people I am speaking to look bemused, but lo...I look up the issue and it turns out PigletJohn has spoken on the issue already.

LilaoftheGreenwood · 28/09/2017 21:17

Oh, I would like to give a shout out to the magic bra sizing ladies! I'm rubbish with names but there are several regulars on S&B. Norks all over the land rest easier in their new, well-fitting bras thanks to them.
