At 28! Aibu in thinking this is really early? I feel like sobbing. It wasn't even a little one either it was very long and very white :( and I'm allergic to hair dye so isn't gonna be easy to cover but didn't think I would be dealing with this so soon :(

My eyebrows on thd other hand are horrendous - proper old man grey sticking up everywhere mutant things. I spend almost as much time dying, triming and waxing those as I ever did dealing with roots.

I have a working theory..that dark haired "cool toned" pale girls go grey earlier. . I started going gray at 21 or 22..my mother started at 16. It's genetic, but I read things like dying you read hair or stress on the follicle can make it turn white earlier.

Dustbunny1900 · 23/09/2017 15:24

Not sure how "read" got in there, sorry. But no, 28 isn't young at all to find a random white hair

GertiesEyebrow · 23/09/2017 15:28

I spent years henna-ing. With a little grey it can look quite pretty and sparkley but with my hair it was going more and more orange which wasn't for me. So I started adding indigo which gave a better result but just too much hassle.

DD was 10... not sure what the big deal with grey hair is anyhow. I don't dye my hair and have been noticeably greying since I was a teenager. Fully grey before 40, and I get complimented on my hair now.

Besides, people pay ££££ to have fake grey hair now.

Dancingfairy · 23/09/2017 16:38

I've been hospitalised because I have a severe reaction to hair dye not quite sure what I'm allergic to in it, hoping it's just the one!

My cousin has nearly black hair and her greys look like silver sparkles. I have a widow's peak

Fairylea · 23/09/2017 16:46

I had my first one at 15 - I remember pulling it out in front of the mirror and being fascinated! I'm 37 now and I have lots and lots of grey and I only dye it when I can be bothered, I've got very dark hair and I actually think having flashes of white / grey is quite fun, especially on someone who looks and dresses a lot younger Grin I don't mind the grey at all! My mum is 70 and she absolutely hates grey and can't understand why I won't dye mine!

RandomUsernameHere · 23/09/2017 16:49

Don't worry OP, it doesn't mean you will suddenly get lots of greys. I found my first one in my very early twenties and now ten years later I still only have a few, not enough to need dyeing.

Ttbb · 23/09/2017 16:51

About half of brunettes I know were sorting grey hairs before 20

Spinningpenny · 23/09/2017 16:54

I was 22 when mine started. Prob about 80% grey now at 37 but dye every 6 weeks without fail!

Lollyb86 · 23/09/2017 16:56

31 and just started getting GreysHmm

GrandDesespoir · 23/09/2017 17:18

I'm going to stay blonde until the day I dye.
