Ok, so I know its an old film, but it's a favourite and I recently rewatched it. And I will brace myself for no replies.

But it's so good. Every line is a classic. And not many of my peers have seen it/share my sense of humour. So in case of any like minded ones...

FORK IT!!

When my ds was a baby his nickname was Jeff Woad because of his enormous head.

Dd used to have a sort of lisp and we'd get her to say "Hair are your aerials, man" to amuse ourselves.

I have a huge globe in my classroom and I'm often tempted to come over all Presuming Ed and chant and spin it.

I love that film.

'We have gone on holiday by mistake' cracks me up every time.

Great film. I have the DVD.

DamsonGin · 24/09/2017 11:09

We've used that on many a soggy camping holiday, Elendon.

Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day.

ARichVernacular · 24/09/2017 18:40

Damson haha, yes, us too, as well as "Sitting down to enjoy my holiday".

ofcoursehesthefuckingfarmer · 24/09/2017 18:57

Ahhh, my people!

NotAgainYoda · 24/09/2017 19:00

"We're not from London you know" has become one of our holiday catchphrases

I saw it when it first opened, at The Barbican cinema. I was ateenager and found its melancholy quite disturbing at first. With repeated viewing, I've loved it more and more. Showed it to my teens recently and they immediately loved it

Also Paul McGann - Phoar!!!!

sundayfeeling · 24/09/2017 19:01

My favourite line:

"I must have some booze. I demand to have some booze!"

NotAgainYoda · 24/09/2017 19:02

"My thumbs have gone all weird" is my favourite line

Blondielongie · 24/09/2017 20:04

Free to those who can afford it, very expensive to those who can't.

And also 'you should never point guns at people!'

The first time I saw it, it was on tv, and I just caught the end but it was before the 'select' button to see what was on and we didn't have a tv guide. But I went to some lengths to find out what it was. Took a while I think. Never looked back!

I need at least an hour for lunch..........

mac12 · 24/09/2017 20:42

We've come on holiday by mistake - this is now a family catchphrase in our house.

I have found my people...Thank you so much for this thread, this has heartily cheered my Sunday evening.

DamsonGin · 24/09/2017 20:55

As upthread where someone would use film lines to help screen new boyfriends, we used the line 'We're not from London you know' when we moved up north. Helped spot future good friends on a like-minded wavelength.

BoysofMelody · 24/09/2017 21:04

Do not attempt anything without the gloves

Pivoine · 24/09/2017 22:49

Fork it!

I must go home and discuss his problems at length! ( at the very beginning, makes me die).

So well written.

As I said above, Bruce Robinson wrote every single one of these quotable lines. How brilliant is that?

And Richard E Grant is the most convincing comedy drunk I've ever seen despite being a teetotaller.

IhaveapenIhavepineapple · 27/09/2017 00:28

Here hare here

ipswichwitch · 27/09/2017 00:44

"How can we make it die?"
When faced with a very alive chicken! Grin

Netty909 · 28/09/2017 22:34

It's on TV tonight! London Live at 23.50.

Butterymuffin · 28/09/2017 23:03
