Ok, so I know its an old film, but it's a favourite and I recently rewatched it. And I will brace myself for no replies.

But it's so good. Every line is a classic. And not many of my peers have seen it/share my sense of humour. So in case of any like minded ones...

FORK IT!!

Fresh air????? (Or something similar)

I'm in a park and I'm half dead.

😂😂😂😂👍👍👍

MissFitton · 22/09/2017 22:29

@TheCumbrian - did you ever go there before it was bought up again? I went just after the Withnails book came out (accidentally as it happened, which was apt) and everything was left as the film crew had left it. Went again a few years later and there was loads of Withnail related graffiti and the stove had been nicked (cannot vouch whether or not there was a chicken on a brick in it)

The Penrith Tea Rooms sadly do not exist.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 22/09/2017 22:32

I always fancied Withnail a bit. In fact, fancy is probably the wrong word. 'Would be brilliant to spend a finite amount of time drinking fine wines with', is probably more accurate.

You can't miss him. 'Is leg's bound in polythene.

I've only had a few ales.

Are you the farmer?
I cried with laughter at that line.
Remember picking it in blockbuster, when we where all poor as students we had a whip round and could afford 1 new title and a £1 "old" title never heard of it and I picked it bit of argee bargee about it, duly picked and it never went back we kept rehiring it until one of the more ballsy students asked if we could buy it and they gave it to us, I watch it every year and I can't wait to show my children when they are older much older Alcohol will be involved I will pretend drugs weren't around in the 90's

NameChangeFamousFolk · 22/09/2017 22:46

In later years after the release, someone bought the DVD for me, without knowing I already had it. I tried to return it to a Virgin store, and the guy on the counter was mildly outraged, and asked why I would want to return Withnail?? I kind of liked that Grin

lollipop7 · 22/09/2017 22:46

@planetclom an anecdote that rings a bell for me.

The only other time I think I enjoyed watching it more was on the Isle of Anglesey at six months pregnant tin 2015 during the Awful weather form Hurricane Randy I believe. My loathsome now ex had ignored my meteorological prophesy and decided to go for a walk with the dog. He rang me begging me to come and pick him up but I was laughing so much I didn't hear my phone ringing for over half an hour.
He came back bedraggled and furious as Uncle Monty made his advances to a terrified Marwood.

Happy Days

Brahms3rdracket · 22/09/2017 22:47

Many years ago i went for a chinese with Danny the drug dealer. He was a nice enough bloke, but quite dull unfortunately.

Glad to finally get a chance to share that claim to fame, nobody in real life knows who the fuck I'm talking about outside of my crowd.

PamelaFlitton31 · 22/09/2017 22:47

This has made me laugh a lot.
'Why has my head gone numb'

There are so many good lines

Our cat was called The Oaf, in homage.

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 22/09/2017 23:29

OFFER HIM YOURSELF!!

Thanks for starting this thread OP. What a great film. I also haven't seen for absolutely ages though - I'm also wondering whether I'd find it funny this time around? Hope I would...!

hellswelshy · 22/09/2017 23:31

Ahhhhhhh love it. 'Balls! I'll swallow it and run a mile' Grin

IamalsoSpartacus · 22/09/2017 23:38

I love this film so much. I adored Pau McGann as a teenager but the flm didn't come on release to our boring local fleapit. Had to wait until I was at uni to see it as a late night special. It is ageless and still so, so funny.

I feel...unusual.

DamsonGin · 22/09/2017 23:38

The fucker will rue the day.

NameChangeFamousFolk · 22/09/2017 23:39
