DC2 is due today. I woke up at 00.55, felt a tiny pop before I felt a trickle of fluid. Waddled to the bathroom, got myself cleaned up, laid bed mats and towel on bed before getting back in. By 1.30 I was back in the bathroom changing pad etc from trickle no 2.

Absolutely no contractions so far. AIBU to try to go back to sleep and wait to call hospital tomorrow morning?? With DD1 my waters didn't go until I'd already got to the hospital

Good luck OP!

Exciting!

My waters broke with two of my babies, DD1 at 39wks was delivered less then 4 hours later, DS at 34wks kept me waiting, contractions stopped, consultant had a prod and decided baby was a good size and put me on a drip to get things going.... 5 hours later he flew out, consultant was right, he was 6lb 4oz and healthy apart from a touch of jaundice.

Good luck!

@ColdFeetWarmHeart I felt exactly the same. Even after DD2 was born I remember looking at her and thinking "I don't know you yet, I want to get home to the one I do know!" Hang in there - hopefully it'll be over soon.

KitKat1985 · 20/09/2017 17:17

Oh how frustrating OP. I had a similar experience with DD2. Waters popped and started trickling at about 2am, but no contractions. Got checked over at midwifery unit at about 6am. They confirmed waters had gone but no contractions. Started talking about drips and inductions if nothing happened within 24 hours. However, I started getting some slight twinges at midday and by 4pm I was 3cm. Things then really ramped up and baby arrived at 5.32pm! I reckon once things start to ramp up I reckon baby will be here pretty quickly. Hang in there!

flutterby12 · 20/09/2017 17:18

How wonderfully exciting. I hope baby comes for you soon. I remember my contractions starting at 2am, going in at 8am as they were unbearable and I was only 1cm! Went home and returned that evening 6cm, he still wasn't born until the following day. It was so, so exciting. Wishing you all the best 😊

HelloMyNameIsNino · 20/09/2017 17:18

Good luck :)

They have a bed for me on antenatal now so will be moving in about 30 mins. Going to have a bath when I get round there. See what else I can do to get this going properly before 1am otherwise it will be syntoncin through a drip Sad

Good luck OP, hopefully your next post will be a birth announcement!

angieloumc · 20/09/2017 17:47

Good luck OP, hopefully not long to go now.

teaandtoast · 20/09/2017 17:49

Good luck, ColdFeet. Smile

OP, don't feel pressurised to have the drip if you don't want it. They can monitor the baby, and keep an eye on you. You don't have to have it. They can discuss options with you. It sounds like things are moving, just slowly.
Try to relax, have a restful bath.
Crossing fingers and toes for you!

mummabubs · 20/09/2017 18:23

I'd echo exactly what A1Sharon has said, if you feel you know enough about the pros and cons of the drip to make a decision you definitely have the right to say to them that you don't want artificial oxytocin (it's written into my birth plan that I don't envisage wanting it and want to continue to aim for natural labour unless there's a genuine risk to baby). Thinking of you!

BigFatGoalie · 20/09/2017 18:36

I just came back to check up on you, thinking of you and sending love and strength x

Keep walking and don't stop! Side step up and down any stairs and do some squats when you can!

Ghostonthedancefloor · 20/09/2017 19:22

Yes to a nice warm bath and a snooze if you can manage. The relaxation will help your body release the oxytocin needed. Best of luck op. I bet once it really starts it's going to be quick.

RedastheRose · 20/09/2017 19:34

Good luck, try and walk about a bit and keep upright, gravity helps the baby along.

ditzychick34 · 20/09/2017 20:00

dustarr73 · 20/09/2017 20:25
