To wonder if no knickers with tights is a thing?

So we have had a house guest and somehow in general conversation the topic of tights came up. She said "well of course when I wear those tights with a white gusset thing I don't bother with knickers". "Sorry, what?", I replied with a bit of a Hmm on. "Oh yeah that's why they have the white bit!"she explained with a knowing look.

Really? How have I spent 37 years not knowing this? Does everyone know and do this?

I wear tights with cotton gussets and no knickers if I'm avoiding a vpl situation

Penguins333 · 19/09/2017 01:01

Im reviewing my comment (ignoring the gross factor which i do not dispute) in light of vpl things. Had not thought of this before. Unless someone has found a nude seamless thong that ACTUALLY works?! Misses point of thread but anyway...

HillaryWinshaw · 19/09/2017 01:24

I can't believe people wear pants over their tights! And wearing two pairs 😲😲

KrytensNanobots · 19/09/2017 01:47

Ooh no! Not read all the replies, just going on gut reaction from the original post.
Yes, you can go just tights no underwear. It'd be very sweaty though, so just why would you choose to do that?!
All man made fibres. Need cotton underwear down there too!

Viserion · 19/09/2017 09:26

Ugh to those of you who don't!

And you'll never know when you meet one of us. We walk among you, sans VPL, our pantless tights wearing secret and silent and having no impact whatsoever on your day.

You should all try it sometime. It is most liberating not being bound to some sort of convention. It is actually much less sweaty only having one thing layer between me and the fresh air.

Bluntness100 · 19/09/2017 09:34

Well let's be honest, no knickers and tights ain't a good look, even if no one sees but you.

I wear knickers underneath, and when I was at school I wore knickers over the top because I couldn't keep them up.

As an adult I realised buying them way bigger than recommended solved the issue. I'm five eight, about a size ten to twelve and generally I buy extra large tights and have no issue with them staying up. Anything smaller and the gusset is round my knees.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 19/09/2017 10:12

I honestly don't get the obsession with VPL. I'd honestly rather someone could see a panty line and know i was wearing knickers, than not see one and think i had none on!

Sandsunsea · 19/09/2017 10:14

The only item of clothing that doesn't require the wearing of knickers is a swimming costume/bikini.

IfNot · 19/09/2017 10:26

I can't stand tights but if I wear them I cut the gusset out like a pp (with knickers under).
Nothing under tights is quite a popular kink BTW (as in men having a special interest in the visual aspect )

quencher · 19/09/2017 10:30

Most of the time, I don't wear knickers with tights.
Depending of the type of dress and how much the tights slide down, I can wear knickers on top.
I also, sometime cut the gusset out for fresh air depending on the weather or how much air I want down there. (It was the best idea I gave my friend)
I also, sometimes wear leggings without knickers when needed.

IrritatedUser1960 · 19/09/2017 10:32

No, no and no.

To wonder if no knickers with tights is a thing?
Arealhumanbeing · 19/09/2017 11:57

Right? As if going knickerless is odd compared to that!

I know. It is horribly obvious too when people aren't wearing knickers . If anything big knickers but in thin, smooth material work much better

Arealhumanbeing · 19/09/2017 22:16

What the hell?!

Obvious in what way. Can people see my bum? Shock

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 19/09/2017 23:10

If you are wearing thin, light coloured trousers or a clingy dress and think you will avoid VPL by not wearing knickers- sorry yes it is obvious. Particularly obvious on thin white or cream trousers and you can see flesh tone through the material.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 19/09/2017 23:16

I was scarred for life when as a child playing in an abandoned hospital (oh the 80s...) I discovered a porn mag in a hedge.
The picture that imprinted itself onto my brain for life was one of a be-permed lady bent over a desk wearing thin tights and no knickers.

Grim.

Arealhumanbeing · 19/09/2017 23:28

Ah no, nothing thin, white or clingy here. My clothes have been compared to armour before.

YetAnotherNC2017 · 19/09/2017 23:29

I almost never wear underwear of any sort so yeah, that's normal to me.

And you really wouldn't know just by looking at me Hmm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/09/2017 23:52

Well let's be honest, no knickers and tights ain't a good look

High definition camel toe ... ?? Grin

xqwertyx · 20/09/2017 00:04

I very rarely wear tights, but when i do 80% of the time they are nowhere near my vag, more down by my knees. That little cotton patch on them just isn't going to cut it for my garden either, it falls about 2 acres short of covering it.

xqwertyx · 20/09/2017 00:11

Im a bit confused about the absorbency thing... I'm not incontinent in any way yet (unless on trampoline) but i also would hate any lack of absorbency. I thought a small amount of clear discharge was something all women got? And if you dont wear pants then it just get a bit damp down there after a while? Do some women literally have a completely dry vag at all times?

WombOfOnesOwn · 20/09/2017 05:58

I live in the US. In Chicago, from the 1980s through the early 2000s, there was a pair of women radio show hosts on WGN (the city's biggest radio station) who were good friends IRL, but also had major disagreements on issues large and small.

One of their longest-running debates which they used to ask nearly every caller their opinion on, for well over a decade was this very question!

What was surprising to them (and still clearly is to many women here!) is how convinced each "side" is that their answer isn't just correct, but the ONLY right way to do it. Very few people say "oh, I don't care one way or the other, sometimes I do one but other times I do the other." Most everyone has a strong opinion, but even people from a similar class and geographic background may disagree vociferously!

MaisyPops · 20/09/2017 06:08

Nike pros and running shorts (they have knicker liners) are fine but then they tend not to be worn all day

Viserion · 20/09/2017 09:38

Womb I am of the honestly don't care what other women wear under their clothes. I haven't seen any judgement from those of of us who choose not to wear knickers with tights, only from the combination wearers who are full of disgust.

Puzzledandpissedoff if you have camel toe, your clothes are too tight, not your underwear.

*xqwertyx" good quality gusseted tights, or ones with built in knickers are just as absorbent as knickers. I don't get damp, promise!

If you are looking at women's arses assessing whether they are wearing multiple pairs of knickers with their tights, you should get your judgy pants out of your own arse - judgemental camel toe is a lot uglier than another woman's underwear choices.

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 20/09/2017 12:03

I think not wearing knickers with tights might actually be a good thing if you are prone to thrush.

I have on occasion worn (regular non-guesseted) tights without knickers if I've forgotten to take knickers to the gym with me!
