My most inspirational quote actually came from mumsnet.
Not my circus not my monkeys.
It has stopped my over involvement in things which were affecting my life.

Most inspiration quote was something my grandfather told me when I was feeling bad about my sons dad walking out on us.

"Your future lays before you,
like a path of glistening snow,
Be careful how you tread it,
Because every mark will show"

Fishface77 · 16/09/2017 10:32

That's lovely little boo! Your grandad sounds wise!

Squirmy65ghyg · 16/09/2017 10:41

That's a very good quote.

HooraySunshine · 16/09/2017 10:48

That's beautiful LittleBooInABox
Someone once told me 'There are so many reasons to be happy'. I loved that. When you're having a bad day or if things just seem to be going all wrong, think about all the positives in your life and you'll soon realize you have more to be happy about than not.

Fishface77 · 16/09/2017 11:03

That's true hooray! I always look at the negatives as I take the positives for granted.

Become who you ARE (Jung) is my mantra

The more I take the obstacles out of my way to let me be me, the happier I am

formerbabe · 16/09/2017 11:52

Don't go broke trying to look rich.

Steeley113 · 16/09/2017 11:59

Everyone wants happiness, nobody wants pain, but you can't have a rainbow without a little rain.

A bit twee but it's helped me get through some tough times lately

FiveShelties · 16/09/2017 12:07

I hope to arrive late for my death, in love and a little bit drunk -

I think it was posted on here and I love it.

Zumarocks · 16/09/2017 12:19

From Derren Browns 'Happy' book - 'stop trying to fulfil other people's expectations of your success'

Zumarocks · 16/09/2017 12:20

Also from MN: 'you can only be 50% of any relationship'

NomNomNominativeDeterminism · 16/09/2017 12:21

A children's book called Nobody's Family Is Going To Change by Louise Fitzhugh, who also wrote Harriet the Spy. The main character's realisation that expecting her parents to change was a non-starter was a lightbulb moment.

And I love 'everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.' I know it's not really true, but it doesn't matter - I love it.

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 16/09/2017 17:39

My grandadads favourite saying: 'don't let the bastards get you down', which was often accompanied by a cup of tea.

Nightshirt · 16/09/2017 17:57

Somebody on here wrote this, I found it very helpful in reigning in judgement.

"Most people in life are just trying to navigate their way through life, in the best way they can. Even if that "way" doesn't resonate with you"

Nightshirt · 16/09/2017 17:58

Ps, typo, 'rein' not 'reign'

SilverySurfer · 16/09/2017 18:15

Learn to love yourself. If you don't love yourself how do you expect anyone else to love you.

Bestbees · 16/09/2017 18:48

'Comparison is the thief of joy'. Return to it again and again.

Shockedshell · 16/09/2017 18:56

"This too shall pass" got me through many a dark day. I'd never really thought about it before but bad situations do pass, they might be replaced by something equally as shit but things do end/change.

TiredMumToTwo · 16/09/2017 18:59

Yes - this too shall pass.

cocoface · 16/09/2017 19:00

The quote from. Dr Seuss - oh the places you'll go.....'I'm sorry to say you'll play lonely games to. Games you can't win because you'll play against you'. Truest thing ever!

barefoofdoctor · 16/09/2017 19:26

'It can't rain all the time' The Crow (film!).

MadMadamMim123 · 16/09/2017 19:33

At the moment one that's really resonating with me is;

"Change 'I'll do that when I feel better' to 'When I do that I'll feel better'

Its stopping me from procrastinating and avoiding things I'm afraid of.

BaggypantsCrimplesnitch · 16/09/2017 20:13

"Not my circus, not my monkeys" has helped me no end recently.

FeedMeAndTellMeImPretty · 16/09/2017 20:19

Love all of these quotes.

One of my faves came from my grandma who used to say "it wouldn't do for us all to be the same my duck". I roll this one out in any "agree to disagree" situation!

As for people - ChocoRaisin on here was a bloody legend going through her divorce from cheating XH and she's still inspiring me 5 years on in RL.

Speaking of MN wisdom - the question "what do you get out of this relationship?" often posed by AF among many others was a real eye opener, and also the idea that you can leave a relationship for any reason, however unimportant the other person sees that reason, if you are not happy. Such simple ideas but having someone 'give you permission' is somehow magical!
