To change my hairdresser after this?

Been using local hairdresser for about 3 years. It's a 10 minute walk from my house.

In the times I've been, they have persistently left hair dye all over my face and I've shown them pictures of the colour I want and the result is usually nothing like.

Yesterday I had an appointment for 11.30. I got there, got sat in the chair and showed them a picture of what I wanted (dark brown with caramel highlights). They said that was fine and they set to work. Throughout the appointment I got the feeling that they had squeezed me into an appointment that they didn't really have. One girl put the colour on, they got the apprentice to wash it off and dry it and then a different woman was set to cut it! I even heard them arguining in the back about who was cutting my hair. I ended up feeling quite unwanted there. Then one came out and asked if I actually wanted it cutting!! I didn't get the head massage I normally get, the trained hairdresser didn't even check the colour before asking the apprentice to wash it off, no toner got put on and the end result was just very dark brown hair with no highlights and dye all down the side of my face which won't come off (I'm going to look a twat for days!). I was then practically wrestled out of the chair without anyone even showing me the back of it (I ended up asking to see it!).

When I got home DH said he liked it but later shouted "Mona Lisa Hair Peach" at me.

AIBU to write this off as the nail in the coffin for this salon?

What is Mona Lisa hair peach???

MrsOverTheRoad · 16/09/2017 10:17

Why did he add "peach" to the Mona Lisa part OP?

What has Peach to do with it?

VioletCharlotte · 16/09/2017 10:23

The can never understand why people keep going back to a hairdresser they're not happy with. You're paying them for a service, they're not doing you a favour!

There are plenty of brilliant hairdressers out there. Ask around and go by recommendation. Don't be swayed by who's got the most beautiful shop or the most expensive. That doesn't necessarily mean they're good.

You need someone you're relaxed with enough to say if you're not happy, going to the hairdresser should be a pleasant experience not an ordeal.

MrLovebucket · 16/09/2017 10:23

Maybe OP namechanged for this but has referred to themselves using their previous NN (Peach)?

pictish · 16/09/2017 10:24

I don't get the 'peach' bit either. 'Mona Lisa hair' I can understand...when you add the peach it becomes ambiguous.

So...

Venella · 16/09/2017 10:28

Mmmm... Peach....

Slartybartfast · 16/09/2017 10:33

hiya peachy

Slartybartfast · 16/09/2017 10:33

your hair is similar to the mona lisa

Venella · 16/09/2017 10:36

Francis Mona Lisa's hair is straight at the parting but has small waves all over – but not quite as fuzzy as a peach...

user1490465531 · 16/09/2017 10:37

I stopped going to my last hairdresser because everytime I booked with her she acted like she was doing me a big favour despite charging the earth and spent more time looking in the mirror at herself than doing my hair.
Sadly finding a good competent hairdresser is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Like another poster I've lost count of the amount of dodgy haircuts I've had to grow out.

Venella · 16/09/2017 10:44

And how could I forget the veil! It is said the veil suggests she might have been pregnant... Err what were we talking about... Ah yes. Hair.

Hope you find a good hairdresser soon, OP. Found mine through word of mouth.

why'd you keep going? It's all there in your first couple of lines?

Mona Lisa Hair Peach is an excellently random phrase, so thank you for that! Grin

You kept going back and yet you seem surprised it sucks every time Confused Stop doing the same thing and expecting different results...

Fogg · 16/09/2017 12:46

I might have given them the benefit of the doubt after the first appointment and gone again but certainly not several times a year for three years! Shock

QuimReaper · 16/09/2017 12:53

That's all I could come up with too!

Severide08 · 16/09/2017 13:22

I have used the same hairdresser for years. Mentioned I wanted dye my hair complete different colour ,got ooh no wouldn't look right ,won't go back your natural colour. Well I bit the bullet ,used a highly recommended hairdresser and I am absolutely chuffed with the colour and cut and had so many positive comments including wow that is gorgeous really suits you. So yeap ,change definitely, best thing I ever did regarding my hair.

DarkDarkNight · 16/09/2017 13:52

You had me at Mona Lisa Hair Peach 🍑

Seriously though, find another salon. It's quite normal for different people to wash, colour, cut and blow dry, but the rudeness is inexcusable.

I've had my fair share of shit experiences. I once had a trainee complain about cutting my hair because she couldn't have lunch at the same time as her friends. I gave up on Toni & Guy after they only half blow dried my hair and I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to wrestle it under control (the stripy highlights were a factor as well).

diddl · 16/09/2017 16:30

"Iwas thInking your hair was fuzzy like a peach but dark brown! Commas are important"

Wouldn't it then be Mona Lisa peach hair?😊

I'm still not getting the insult though!

yelpforhelp · 16/09/2017 16:54

It's not north of leeds is it?! I've just tried a new salon. Terrible. Truly the worst customer experience I've ever had.

pnutter · 16/09/2017 17:06

Do we still not have an update on the peach Angry

MrsGrindah · 16/09/2017 17:12

I'm crying with laughter at the poster who said about you taking in a picture of the Mona Lisa!!!!

I'm assuming the "peach" bit means OPs DH means she's being a peach about it.. i.e. over sensitive and easily bruised

Andylion · 16/09/2017 17:15

My take on Mona Lisa hair peach: OP had dye all down one side of her face. She also has downy facial hair (as do we all, or at least, many of us). That hair is now Mona Lisa brown, and looks somewhat like the fuzz of a peach.

(I actually out a lot of thought into it!)

MrLovebucket · 16/09/2017 17:35

@Andylion Or maybe OP took in a picture of Gaz Coombes.

Bad trip to the hairdressers, "she's done a right Mona Lisa Hair Peach on me today."

Seeing your friends bad hair do, "oh wowzwers, her hair looks like a total Mona Lisa Hair Peach. Poor her."

Having a bad day all round. "I'm having a real Mona Lisa Hair Peach of a day today."
