To change my hairdresser after this?

Been using local hairdresser for about 3 years. It's a 10 minute walk from my house.

In the times I've been, they have persistently left hair dye all over my face and I've shown them pictures of the colour I want and the result is usually nothing like.

Yesterday I had an appointment for 11.30. I got there, got sat in the chair and showed them a picture of what I wanted (dark brown with caramel highlights). They said that was fine and they set to work. Throughout the appointment I got the feeling that they had squeezed me into an appointment that they didn't really have. One girl put the colour on, they got the apprentice to wash it off and dry it and then a different woman was set to cut it! I even heard them arguining in the back about who was cutting my hair. I ended up feeling quite unwanted there. Then one came out and asked if I actually wanted it cutting!! I didn't get the head massage I normally get, the trained hairdresser didn't even check the colour before asking the apprentice to wash it off, no toner got put on and the end result was just very dark brown hair with no highlights and dye all down the side of my face which won't come off (I'm going to look a twat for days!). I was then practically wrestled out of the chair without anyone even showing me the back of it (I ended up asking to see it!).

When I got home DH said he liked it but later shouted "Mona Lisa Hair Peach" at me.

AIBU to write this off as the nail in the coffin for this salon?

Of course YANBU! I really don't see why you've put up with it for so long. They can't be the only hairdresser surely?

I also don't get why hairdressers wouldn't cope with being shown a picture? Every time I've been to the hairdressers (my friend does mine now, so I'm very lucky), they've always discussed it with me and after that they've just done it.

Even if they're not sure what you mean, there's no excuse for dye being on your face and for there being no highlights. You should definitely complain.

Mona Lisa hair peach explanation or it didn't happen.

MrsGrindah · 16/09/2017 09:37

I'm going to shout Mona Lisa Hair Peach at someone today! Although I'm worried that. as I don't know what it means. it may be out of context and not have the desired effect. Worth a try though.

Mona Lisa hair Peach - as my hair resembles that of Mona Lisa (you know, the famous painting?!) I thought that would be obvious Confused

There must be a reason you keep returning? Misplaced loyalty?
Convienience? Or is it 50p for a cut and blow dry?

Getting rid of dye on skin; try some acetone nail varnish remover on cotton wool or whitening toothpaste (scrub gently with a toothbrush).

Also, although your hair looks very dark now, it will lighten up after a few washes.
Definitely go elsewhere next time!

Theconifers25 · 16/09/2017 09:49

Okay assume we know who Mona Lisa is but what fresh hell is this peach reference?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/09/2017 09:49

Does he call you Peach as a pet name? Mona Lisa hair, Peach, makes sense (sort of).
Mona Lisa had nice hair, a sort of light brown. He needs to work on his comedy insults Confused Ignore him.

hmmwhatatodo · 16/09/2017 09:50

So your name is Peach?

Gorgosparta · 16/09/2017 09:50

Is mona lusa famous for having awful hair?

KimchiLaLa · 16/09/2017 09:51

I would post on their FB page and detail it how you have done here, then book in somewhere else.

Gladiolies · 16/09/2017 09:52

It's not!

Heratnumber7 · 16/09/2017 09:57

YANBU to never ever go back.

YABU to ever expect your hair to look like a photo you give a hairdresser.

opinionatedfreak · 16/09/2017 10:01

I'm hair language illiterate. I find it incredibly difficult to explain what I want. I use photo's - often from my hairdresser's instagram feed!

My hairdresser usually patiently explains why we can't do that/ it won't suit me and suggests something else. And then does it. Or she tells me we can achieve it but that it will take several appointments. I'm currently silvery grey. It has taken several months to get this right and she made no bones about the fact it would take this long and that it would be a big commitment.

I'm usually happy. She takes great care to lift left over dye from my neck and face. However, it isn't uncommon for me to have my hair washed by the junior (I often get it washed a couple of times in one appt as I have complex colour) and if she is pushed for time then the junior will often blow dry at the end too.

Increasingly she is just working as a colourist but because I'm such a longstanding client she still cuts my hair too.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/09/2017 10:01

Unless of course the picture you took in was The Mona Lisa?

The80sweregreat · 16/09/2017 10:02

The people working there wouldnt show loyalty to a place if they messed up something, so why should you? go back and show the manager the dye marks around your head and tell her that you were not happy with the service then go elsewhere in future.
It sounds as if they were short staffed or had overbooked - still bad customer service though.
