in thinking this guy is unreasonable?

amputee asked to show his bus pass surely ther point of having a disabled bus pass is so that you show it?

driver was rude, yes agree. but doesnt everyone have to hsow their pass? even if the disability is obvious? otherwise whats the point?

in some areas. dh wouldnt have a bus pass although obviously disabled.

Actually I've been on a bus once when something similar happened. Guy in wheel chair got on, one of his legs was obviously amputated, the bus driver asked for his pass, guy had already positioned his wheel chair in the wheelchair space, so a passenger oposite him offered to take the pass up to the driver to show it, man in wheel chair than proceeded to check his pockets, and failed to produce his pass, I was tired and wanted to go home (which wasn't going to happen whilstthe debate about the pass was going on), so paid for the guy, we all got to go home...... I'm not sure what my point is here

I think you're being unreasonable, the man was clearly disabled and there's no point in the bus driver being a jobsworth in this instance. He had no legs ffs it's not like he was trying to get a free ride. The driver would have known if that area gave disabled people free passes.

My dad is in a wheelchair and goes into the city on a bus now and again, it's not very comfortable for him. I believe he pays but could be because they've just moved up here.

I think bus drivers just make up the rules as they go along. I used to pay a totally different fare depending on the bus driver for the same route to work and back!

yes bus driver would know if area gave bus passes, but doesnt know if every disabled person is from the area surely?

PestoEasterMonster it wasn't altruistic at all on my part, I wanted to go home (long day at work, had just taken the donkey line and was utterly exhausted), but there was a debate going on about a fecking pass, and where it could possibly be, I figured I could spare the £1 (as the fare was then)....

he is being unreasonable. just because he's entitled to a buss pass doesn't necessarily mean he has one. he may not have bothered to get one and may be travelling free anyway.

I'm entitled to free buss travel, but I don't have a buss pass because ... well tbh I haven't been bothered to go and get one. would need to get photo's/go to gp to get a letter confirming my disability (which I would probably have to pay for), and tbh for the amount of times I travel on the buss I can't be arsed.

yes my disability is obvious as I have a guide dog, but that doesn't mean that drivers should automatically assume I have a buss pass, because I don't have one.

thank you wannabe, you said my point much better than me. dh doesnt have a disabled pass, i dont even know if this area issues them. not that dh is bus compatable anyway.

still nice of you to do that fuzzy.

also, and I know I run the risk of being shot down for this, but having a disability does not automatically give one the right to be that obnoxious without potential repercussion.

"I have no legs, it's pretty obvious" is pretty rude too IMO and if I'd been the driver I too would have been tempted to not move because of his attitude.

The driver was doing his job. the passenger was acting like an asshole.

I dunno, I just think that disabled people have enough to worry about. I realise I'm biased though as my dad is paralysed from the neck down, the buses he uses have the ramps for him to get on with and he has an electric chair.

FGS, if old people can go free just for being old, then anyone with limbs missing could go free on the grounds that they are probably disabled, yes?

all i am saying is that if you have a pass you should show it. dont all school kids have passes, dont they have to wave them at the drivers when they get on, if not they have to pay?

my dfad was in his early 20's, got on the bus and the driver went 'is that a half sonny'

Yes but anyone can put a uniform on, if someone has a missing body part, they can't just be pretending

but having a limb missing doesnt mean you have a pass for that area? does it? could be from out of town?
