My friend is cleaning my house! Should I be grateful or offended?

I had a party. All good. Now my friend who is staying over is cleaning my house. Top to bottom. Dusting, polishing, mopping. I've told her to stop but she won't!

Does that mean she thinks my house is really dirty or is she just being polite? She's raked up dust balls I didn't know existed.

Should I stop her or just relax?

What is the protocol?

Say thankyou nd make her a cuppa!

Ecureuil · 09/09/2017 19:14

Leave her to it... I'd have regular parties if it meant someone would clean my house after!

Katedotness1963 · 09/09/2017 19:15

I'd be grateful she's helping clear up after a party. She could be sitting like a bump on a log watching you do everything.

RandomMess · 09/09/2017 19:16

Weirdly I enjoy cleaning other peoples houses more than my own, I think it's because I'm not going to see it dirtied by my family!

Let her crack on with it, she's clearly just "in the mood" for a spring clean Grin

Namechangetempissue · 09/09/2017 19:17

Oh god, I'm that friend Blush. I like to be helpful and get a bit carried away once I'm started.

Silverthorn · 09/09/2017 19:17

Why are you not helping? Does she have some sort of OCD?

hairymaryquitecontrary · 09/09/2017 19:17

Why do you need to ask if you should be offended or pleased? Which actually are you?

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/09/2017 19:17

So I shouldn't feel guilty? My usual post party MO is to let it fester till tomorrow ....

I will offer her a cuppa... good plan

I also prefer to clean other people's houses.. wish someone would come and do mine lol

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 09/09/2017 19:18

You need to tell her that your dear friend shouldwe has greater need than you and she needs to come over immediately.

I'm not sure. Which is why I asked you lot! My bro and pa came and played games. My mum, sis and (female) friend helped in kitchen.

I feel guilty. But happy that it's gonna be shining!

No, it means she appreciates you've had a party and is helping you clean up after. Good friend.

SleepyHeadThisTime · 09/09/2017 19:23

Let her get on with it and bake her a cake as a thank you can I borrow your friend??

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 09/09/2017 19:23

CleopatraCatLover · 09/09/2017 19:33

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 09/09/2017 19:34

Can I have a party so I can invite your friend and end up with a clean house? I'm sure I have dust from last year still laying about Grin

mummmy2017 · 09/09/2017 19:35

Going rate for cleaning is £8 per hour...
Order take away instead

Longdistance · 09/09/2017 19:36

I'm going out tonigh.

When she's finished send her round here? I'll pop the key under the doormat and she can let herself in, and I'll pay with 🍷 In copious amounts Grin

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 09/09/2017 19:37

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 09/09/2017 19:43

I'm that friend too, especially after a party. Make her some Coffee and cake then enjoy it!

guilty100 · 09/09/2017 19:46

Just enjoy it! I'm sure your friend is trying to do something absolutely lovely for you (and it's hard work too!).

WorriedandExhausted · 09/09/2017 19:48

Just relax, as a friend she is probably trying to be helpful.

Either help her a biy, or tea and biscuits. Both are fine
