Just wondering how other couples spend quality time together. What do you do?

Our kids are older now and he and I love to go on long rambles with our dogs. We explore public footpaths in surrounding villages with flasks and all weather picnics. We love spotting wildlife, particularly birds of prey. We're gone hours!

Also, our work allows us the odd weekday hour to go back to bed! In the middle of the day!

We're so rock and roll!

This Ian a lovely thread ❤️

Sleepingonthebus · 07/09/2017 09:09

We go on long drives with snacks. We plan our routes beforehand but never stick to them because we always spot roads on the way that we fancy more. Often find ourselves in the middle of nowhere but that's half the fun.

MrsJoyOdell · 07/09/2017 09:14

We watch box sets, do large jigsaws, play cards, play board games etc.

lemonzest123 · 07/09/2017 09:21

We go out to dinner/dancing. Far too much. It's why I'm always broke but I don't care because it's fun.

KityGlitr · 07/09/2017 09:28

We like to snuggle up in bed and watch Peep Show on the iPad! Or lie on the sofa with one of us giving the other a foot massage while watching tv. Walks around the beautiful park near ours where we became an official couple. Playing pool at a pool hall with cocktails. We've only been together a year so far so we regularly go back to bed in the middle of the day for some afternoon delight if we're both off work at the same time, which is absolutely wonderful ;) we spend most of our time just gazing at each other's eyes and telling each other how beautiful we think each other are, and have this thing where we get in bed and lie 'nose to nose' and 'tummy to tummy' and just hibernate snuggling each other for hours. It's sick, I love it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/09/2017 09:32

Dh and I have very different interests / hobbies but we both love visiting NT properties and taking a picnic ( a really good picnic!) We're going to one on Saturday, can't wait Smile

Ronnyhotdog · 07/09/2017 09:37

Shit we tend to sit next to each other, him on laptop me on iPad with the occasional "fancy a brew fuck wit?"
We do like each other a little bit, sometimes.

PixieChemist · 07/09/2017 09:44

Question for those who play board games - which board games do you play? We'd love to buy some and get into some but we're never really sure what.

FfionFlorist · 07/09/2017 09:48

We walk the dog, we get drunk and play crib, we argue about politics, we go to pubs and watch live music, we do yoga together - well I do yoga and he farts and laughs at me.

Notreallyarsed · 07/09/2017 09:49

@Ronnyhotdog aye we do that too 😂😂😂

Mustang27 · 07/09/2017 10:30

Sleep.

rabbitcakes · 07/09/2017 14:56

@kaytee87 be glad they are through. At 18 months mine has 6. It's never gonna end at this rate Angry

bootygirl · 07/09/2017 16:49

We visit local coffee shops & craft/food markets. We watch box sets... sometimes go out to eat or cinema or show..

Ragwort · 07/09/2017 17:45

What board games are suitable for 2 ? We love board games and used to play them every Sunday night with our DS - now he is a teenager he is not so interested Grin and I'm not sure which are good games for 2? Have tried backgammon but not particularly good at it.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 07/09/2017 18:13

We go for long walks, visit stately homes, visit nature reserves, sit in a cosy pub just talking. It's lovely now the DCs are old enough for us to spend time together.

Crumbs1 · 07/09/2017 18:24

Board games for 2 - try Sequence and Othello. Otherwise Risk for a longer game.

gttia · 07/09/2017 18:35

We do lots of walks, visit nice pubs - sometimes country and sometimes city. We always chat whilst he washes up and I have a sit down in the kitchen, watch films together. Plan little mini breaks away. We tend to follow each other round the house too! Oh and we go to the gym together at least twice a week.
On our wknd with children at home we try and have a jobs day and a day out, in the summer we like a picnic tea in the park.

fussychica · 07/09/2017 18:37

We are early retired and spend almost all our time together and have done for a number of years. We are fortunate to be able to spend half our time in Spain wherewe used to live. We are far more social when there, spending lots of time with friends, eating out, playing tennis, walking, reading and quizzing. Quizzing is our thing! We also go to other areas in Spain for day or week long trips. The weather is obviously much more conducive to outdoor living and we take advantage of that. We are never bored.
In the UK we take the opportunity to do some house and garden maintenance, visit family and are still National Trust members and try to use it regularly whilst home. We also visit our two nearest cities for shopping and the coast which I would like to be closer to. I find the weather here the limiting factor but still love our time spent at home.

Ragwort if you want a game for 2 we have become partial to Rummikub which can be played by 2, 3 or 4.

Lucisky · 07/09/2017 18:49

Having bbqs if the weekend is sunny and sitting in the garden drinking pimms.
Going on holiday and losing ourselves in foreign places, soaking up the atmosphere, which is usually food and booze orientated.
Again in summer, cycling to a local (or not so local) pub for a meal and a pint.
Visiting breweries, we love real ale.
Actually, we sound like a couple of alcoholics.

DonkeyPunch88 · 07/09/2017 19:03

Random drives where we get lost on purpose. Foot rubs whilst watching family guy and constantly saying we should have an early night. We used to go out and order ridiculous cocktails, get shitfaced and then he'd carry me home. Now with kids it's rare that we get child free time but laying in bed just snuggling and talking about everything. That or we buy up half of M&S picnic food, drive up to this lay by we like up on a hill and gorge ourselves Grin

flyingspaghettimonster · 07/09/2017 19:07

Watch a movie or a series on Netflix that we save to only watch together. Go out for dinner (omg my kids can finally stay home with the oldest babysitting! I'm free!) or cinema... board game nights with friends.

kaytee87 · 07/09/2017 19:15

@rabbitcakes I do keep telling myself at least it will be over quicker.
He will be having his first sleepover away from me in a couple of weeks as we're going to a wedding and staying at a hotel. While I'm nervous leaving him, the prospect of a lie in with my DH and an uninterrupted breakfast together is something to look forward to!

QuackingHell · 07/09/2017 19:41

We have 2 under 2 so we don't do a lot alone but we do quite enjoy visiting the grandparents and leaving them with the baby and toddler while we go round the corner for a curry. We play board games when the kiddos have gone to bed and have just started doing planking competitions (who can plank the longest) normally ends up with us in fits of giggles at how crap we are at them 😂 Any other child free time would be out in the countryside doing a lovely long walk. We have our best conversations when we walk til our feet hurt. Read in bed together. And I love driving round and talking while the kids are asleep in the back! Feels like we are all alone! And at nap time on the weekends (if they're sleeping at the same time) we sit in silence with tea and biscuits. He's a good one my husband ❤️

BuzzKillington · 07/09/2017 19:46

We are very partial to a shared bath with candles and a bottle of champagne.

Like someone upthread, we do the Saturday times crossword.

Sneaking off for lunch out when we are both 'working from home'.

And, more randomly, we are a very good upholstery team.

abigailgabble · 07/09/2017 19:48

we do crosswords, play scrabble and do jigsaws. and go on walls with or without dogs as we have to borrow them.
