Just wondering how other couples spend quality time together. What do you do?

Our kids are older now and he and I love to go on long rambles with our dogs. We explore public footpaths in surrounding villages with flasks and all weather picnics. We love spotting wildlife, particularly birds of prey. We're gone hours!

Also, our work allows us the odd weekday hour to go back to bed! In the middle of the day!

We're so rock and roll!

I feel really envious of all you lot who have hobbies in common with your DPs, and who managed to meet men who love to chat for hours.

I'm on my 2nd husband, and they've both ended up being couch potatoes.

Hmm. 🤔

Sandsunsea · 07/09/2017 00:04

Cook and eat great food, drink great wine. Watch movies and boxsets. Talk. The only time we get together is when the dc sleep

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 07/09/2017 07:06

We have little kids so alone time is rare.

We go to fancy restaurants and have the sort of meals that give the DS the vapours Grin

When they're bigger I hope we will do what you do. I'm very jealous!

Notreallyarsed · 07/09/2017 07:08

We don't often get to do stuff together without the kids but when we do it's football, either going to games or watching it at home. Thankfully we support the same team so that works out nicely Smile

heron98 · 07/09/2017 07:09

Mountain biking

Albinohedgehogs · 07/09/2017 07:12

Go to a new (posh) town and go to all the charity shops then have coffee in a nice cafe.

rabbitcakes · 07/09/2017 07:21

At the moment, mainly putting up furniture and doing bits to the house.

I'm assured it'll be finished soon. I long for collapsing in front of the tv with a whiskey or three.

FoodGloriousFud · 07/09/2017 07:26

We love lodge breaks, exploring National Trust properties/ Gardens, board games, snuggling up and reading, going to the theatre and local museums and we do various craft days.

Hekabe · 07/09/2017 07:28

Dog walks and exploring
Cooking together
Watching master chef
Drunk scrabble
Fish and chips on the beach
Tea in bed
Crosswords

Ragwort · 07/09/2017 07:31

Some of these ideas are so lovely -after 30 years of marriage our interests seem to have gone in totally different direction Grin and there is not much we do together - we do like visiting National Trust places ................... other than that we have completely different tastes in TV/meals out, sex , visiting friends, sport - can't think of much else we both really enjoy.

kaytee87 · 07/09/2017 07:31

Sleep 😴

My 13mo has almost 16 teeth so has been constantly teething since he was about 6mo Sad

We used to like going cycling together, going for a nice walk, watching a good film or boxset. We still do some of this obviously but Sleep is high on our agenda at the moment Grin

JoandMax · 07/09/2017 07:37

Drinking nice wine while cooking on a particular theme - once a week we choose something like Italian or Asian and both choose a recipe. It normally ends up with me drunk and DH having to salvage the cooking!

Also shagging at the moment - sex life was pretty dire after DS2 for a few years so we're making up for lost time......

Welshmaenad · 07/09/2017 07:40

Shout at the news and criticise the Tories. We went on a romantic weekend to the Cotswolds and ended up drinking champagne in bed...watching BBC News 24. We need help.

Sometimes we watch a film instead but often it goes wrong. Like when we put Cloud Atlas on at 10pm not realising it was about 4 hours long.

"Watching great British bake off and fisting.... not at the same time obvs"

It's comments like this that make me think I bloody love Mumsnetters and they are my people. Ha!

violetbunny · 07/09/2017 07:55

Going for brunch together
Going for spa days (I actually think he loves this more than I do!)
Mooching around the shops together
Going to the cinema or theatre

stumblymonkeyagain · 07/09/2017 08:05

We watch boxsets, Masterchef, GBBO, Grand Designs and anything about renovating houses snuggled up with a blanket and lots of cats (we have four)

We go for a wander around local market towns, farmers markets, country fairs and rambles around beauty spots

We talk about our latest projects...currently our upcoming wedding and new house or about goals for the future or gossip about friends and colleagues (just between the two of us)

We talk to each other via the cats in their 'voices' actually that's mainly me

We foster stray cats now and then for Cats Protection in our spare room

Weekends away...seeing cultural stuff or just exploring new places in the UK or Europe

stumblymonkeyagain · 07/09/2017 08:05

Oh and go to the local pub and play scrabble... rock and roll!

happystory · 07/09/2017 08:13

We live about an hour from the coast so we keep an eye out for good hotel deals (quite happy with a Premier Inn!) and try and get away every few months; we enjoy the planning and scoping out nice restaurants and then enjoy long walks on the beach and lots of eating and drinking!

BornInALighthouse · 07/09/2017 08:21

We're only just able to hold hands again now one of us isn't pushing the buggy. That's nice. Oh and we cleared an allotment together the other week. Loves young dream us.

Mrsfloss · 07/09/2017 08:24

What we really love to do is:

Try to outdo each other in who has done the most housework
Try to outdo each other in the most tired
Hunch over our phones not talking

Then we get pissed, cook and go out for meals!

Only1scoop · 07/09/2017 08:28

'Watching great British bake off and fisting.... not at the same time'

GrinGrin

wanderings · 07/09/2017 08:42

We love crosswords.
Walking a friend's dog - it's nice to dog walk sometimes without the responsibility of owning one!
Playing sport together.
Swimming outdoors when it's warm enough.
Going to zoos.
Picnics.
Wrapping presents: we do this together, and usually have a few sessions of it before Christmas. After we've done the presents for other people, we wrap the presents for each other. (Our tradition is that the recipient is blindfolded and stays in the room.)
We do this for our birthday presents too.

9GreenBottles · 07/09/2017 08:59

There are lots of things we do together, but we love having a Friday night bath together with a bottle of wine, some peanuts, music, and lots of talking.

MaMisled · 07/09/2017 09:03

So glad I asked!

So many couples still enjoying each other.

My first DH and I used to get drunk, play video games and eat great food but we didn't talk or have sex. At all!!!

Sort of place marking as I was wondering this. Currently struggling with quality time, we seem to spend a lot of time together but very little of it is proper quality time.

I guess some things we do together occasionally are going out walking for the day, baking and cooking together, very very occasionally go for a meal out.
