Just wondering how other couples spend quality time together. What do you do?

Our kids are older now and he and I love to go on long rambles with our dogs. We explore public footpaths in surrounding villages with flasks and all weather picnics. We love spotting wildlife, particularly birds of prey. We're gone hours!

Also, our work allows us the odd weekday hour to go back to bed! In the middle of the day!

We're so rock and roll!

We get shitfaced too, and talk for hours about everything. Usually get to bed 2am-3am on those night.
Going to the Proms together a fair bit at the moment (£7 tickets, you buy them at 9am on the day)
National Trust places on the weekend with a massive flask of tea and some chocolate biscuits.

Love him.

Mrskeats · 06/09/2017 21:21

We go out for brunch most Sundays
We have cheese night with a film one night a week
We have a weekend away every few months
We like to go to art galleries
Sunday afternoon sex (grin)

Alexandra87 · 06/09/2017 21:22

Netflix and chill. But actually just watch Netflix and chill not the other 😉 although we do that occasionally.
We also love to sit outside with a hot chocolate and the fire pit going.
We sound about 90 but actually I'm not even 30!

AboutAGallonofDietCoke · 06/09/2017 21:27

Watching great British bake off and fisting.... not at the same time obvs

LilaoftheGreenwood · 06/09/2017 21:29

Grin and why not?

feelingblue123 · 06/09/2017 21:30

Tea and toast in bed followed by lots of lovely sex. Shower together. Go somewhere nice for a long brunch, read the papers and discuss whats in them. Walk the dogs on the beach. Stop in the pub for a pint. Cuddle on the sofa and read a book. Run a hot bath, I get in first, then him. Have a sandwich. Go to bed for more sex.

Perfect kid free Sunday right there.

Or go out and dance for 12 hours to techno and loose our minds.

AboutAGallonofDietCoke · 06/09/2017 21:31

Because that would cause a soggy bottom Lila
And we can't have that now can we? 😀

BertieBotts · 06/09/2017 21:31

We play computer games - weekly with another couple but also just us two sometimes

Sometimes watch TV together but more often apart as we have v different tastes

Going for walks is nice but we more often do it with DS because it's useful to tire him out and we get adult time guilt free as he's often entertained just by being out of doors (once he's done moaning!) and not on a screen.

Yes to sitting in bed and talking (obv we do other things in bed too :o)

Sometimes have a bath together although current house is not v comfortable to share.

Go to fast food restaurants during the day when DS is at school Blush

We haven't done it for ages but we used to go to comedy shows.

ChickenBhuna · 06/09/2017 21:32

We both love food so like to find weird and wonderful places to dine.
Oh and people watching and judging the general public , we have passed many an afternoon doing thatSmile
Basically just hanging out together whilst doing very little is perfect.

WyfOfBathe · 06/09/2017 21:37

Watching daytime TV or cheesy box sets
Cooking together
Discussing language things (we're both MFL teachers)
Relax on the beach
Showing each other funny things we find online
Cuddling and chatting

We watch reruns of The Rockford Files

PollyFlint · 06/09/2017 21:39

Well, DP's hobby involves travelling quite a bit so if he's going somewhere nice, I'll go with him on a little road trip and I'll explore while he's doing his hobby stuff, and then we'll either have a long, cosy drive home while listening to our favourite radio stuff on iPlayer or we'll stop over in a hotel and have a nice meal together.

We also like going to restaurants, gigs and the odd trip to the theatre/cinema/comedy club. We like meeting up straight from work and having a couple of drinks before getting something to eat.

Sometimes we watch box sets or telly together although weirdly the one that brings us the biggest sense of togetherness is Only Connect; we have been known to spontaneously high-five if we solve the wall. Blush

We used to do walks and stuff because I really love nature and wildlife and birdwatching, but haven't been able to do much of that this year as I've been recovering from an injury. We do now live opposite a colossal park though which is nice so we have a wander there.

We also love a good museum/gallery/historic attraction, the more obscure the better.

For some reason (I genuinely can't remember why) I insist that he takes me to Blackpool one Friday night per year during the Illuminations and we HAVE to have fish and chips and we HAVE to have doughnuts and we HAVE to mock the crapness of the tribute shows and end-of-the-pier comedians advertised. You get extra points if you spot a poster that claims that the comic in question is 'Too blue for TV' or a fortune-teller who has photos of herself with people from Brookside outside her booth.

Every New Year's Eve we refuse all invitations and stay in. DP cooks a lovely dinner, we listen to obscure stuff on Spotify and play boardgames and get absolutely hammered and wake up on New Year's Day with terrible hangovers.

I'm making it sound like we're about 80. We're not; we're in our 40s.

Hassled · 06/09/2017 21:40

National Garden Scheme open gardens. It has revolutionised our rock'n'roll lifestyle. We'd travel miles on a Sunday to marvel at a Magnolia, and it's the only way to live.

Mummychoochoo3 · 06/09/2017 21:40

Eat chicken done kebaby from Turkish restaurants

BlondeB83 · 06/09/2017 21:44

Drinking! Either at home or in nice bars, going to the pub quiz, nice restaurants, theatre, walking, visiting and exploring cities.

user1479265923 · 06/09/2017 21:44

We get shitfaced and play Connect 4.

😂

RandomlyGenerated · 06/09/2017 21:44

I'm tempted to say listening to Radio 3, discussing existential poetry and doing charitable good deeds, but I'd be lying.

It mostly involves fast cars and beer (but not at the same time - wouldn't want to spill anything).

CryingMessFFS · 06/09/2017 21:46

We like to drink tea, eat biscuits and have sex! Not all at the same time

DownstairsMixUp · 06/09/2017 21:46

We drink together. I often go to rallies and car shows with my dh as it's his hobby and am quite happy drinking cider! We don't often get time alone but when we do nice food is a win for us!

LuluJakey1 · 06/09/2017 21:47

Go for a long walk and talk, stop for lunch or tea and wildlife spot.
Go to the flea market on a Saturday and have lunch at the Itaian restaurant then walk home along the sea front and beach
Cook dinner together and have a couple of drinks and lie on the settee in the dark, listening to music and talking
Have some time in the house alone
Go to bed in the afternoon
Play cards and have a beer and a laugh
Read the papers over coffee and breakfast out at the weekend
Have a weekend away
Go to museums and art galleries

We like being together. We talk a lot and laugh a lot. He is good company.

Namechangeblock · 06/09/2017 21:48

We talk about work - v dull for the rest of the world, but we love it, and do it a lot Blush

We usually have one series of something on the go and watch an episode or two a week together

Weekend brunch reading the papers, or going out for a lovely meal (we love eating food and just chatting ) - not v often post kids

Going for a night out drinking with mates, then booking a hotel and having hotel sex

If we're really lucky, a night at the opera with a half bottle of champagne at the interval, followed by tapas and more wine

Maelstrop · 06/09/2017 21:49

Go to a retro cinema, dinner first, people watch in the posh little town where the cinema is. Go for meandering drives and find somewhere we like the look of for lunch. Watch programmes related to his job and critique his colleagues.

AtSea1979 · 06/09/2017 21:52

lila what's 'the Proms' ?

Cleanermaidcook · 06/09/2017 21:53

Another vote for getting shitfaced here too
And watch Netflix
And a good snog and sex.

Occasionally we play scrabble. 😀
