To think my cat might have rabies.

He's chewed all the flesh from the tip of his tail, he was panicking because it was wet. I know it sounds mental but there is a possibility he was bitten by a bat and in England one species can carry a rabies virus.

Goodness, I sound crazy.

Aww so sorry to read all your problems , I haven't read every single answer so someone else may have mentioned you can get a plug in for cats that help to calm them , my vet suggested one in the past for my old cat , worth asking the vet perhaps ?

I hope he makes a good recovery soon. Tails are a nightmare and always bleed like buggery and are difficult to heal.
Is a product called 'dog ends' which help with healing tails without the stress of a bandage, may be worth enquiring about if troubles persist.
Glad he's got some sedative to settle him.
A large crate with litter tray and bed in it may be needed for a few days.
Also definitely second plugging in a feliway for him take the edge off his stress.
