To think my cat might have rabies.

He's chewed all the flesh from the tip of his tail, he was panicking because it was wet. I know it sounds mental but there is a possibility he was bitten by a bat and in England one species can carry a rabies virus.

Goodness, I sound crazy.

They resist strongly if you try and get them to drink sukit - because they can't swallow and will choke. They don't panic if they see a river or it starts raining.

Thepersonineedisnannymcphee · 05/09/2017 09:44

There's nothing he could catch it in. On top of the dryer was where I left him last night and all the blood is there.

If it was wet yesterday, maybe he had a burst abscess then.

Seeingadistance · 05/09/2017 09:46

Have you got an appointment with the vet?

Thepersonineedisnannymcphee · 05/09/2017 09:46

Just quite shaken.

Hope he's ok OP, what a horrible fright for you.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/09/2017 09:49

Let us know how you get on OP, your cat is extremely distressed, but I very much doubt it's Rabies.

Peaceonearthplease · 05/09/2017 09:50

morningconstitutional2017 · 05/09/2017 09:52

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/09/2017 09:55

Jeez, that's nasty! Not a tick, or something, is it? So sorry, your poor cat must be in a right state to have done that, and you too to have witnessed it!

Hope the vets can help x

wrapsuperstar · 05/09/2017 09:56

Oh poor cat and how scary for you. Hope vet can sort everything.

bonzo77 · 05/09/2017 09:56

Not sure who I feel most sorry for, the cat or you having to deal with it. Good luck, hope it's easily sorted.

Namethecat · 05/09/2017 09:58

How did you get on at the vets ?

Thepersonineedisnannymcphee · 05/09/2017 09:58

SoftKittySillyKitty · 05/09/2017 09:59

McCunty · 05/09/2017 10:00

I hope your car is ok op.

PrincessWonderRabbit · 05/09/2017 10:00

Oh shit have they got any idea in what's wrong?

Graceflorrick · 05/09/2017 10:01

Oh OP, that's awful Sad

Thepersonineedisnannymcphee · 05/09/2017 10:01

Vet said something damaged his tail slightly and basically he just went to town on it and destroyed it. He'll lose around a third of it.

I'm now having a stiff cuppa.

OP posts:
BulletFox · 05/09/2017 10:03

Oh no, poor cat - at least you got him looked after quickly Flowers

MycatsaPirate · 05/09/2017 10:04

ah poor baby! Hope he's going to be ok.

One of ours has half a tail, she's a rescue so no idea why but she looks really cute with her little stubby tail.

Hope he's home soon and recovering.
