Hillary Clinton was on maddow last night and it makes for painful watching to think what might have been Sad

Gumpendorf · 15/09/2017 10:15

I agree about Clinton, Pain. Clinton and Maddox together sounds a treat.

I listened to 2 different podcasts yesterday about HRC. Both were fascinating but the New Yorker interview was more political and it made me realise we have very few people with her understanding and experience in active politics any more. Imagine a world being led by Clinton and Merkel...

https://www.newyorker.com/podcast/the-new-yorker-radio-hour/hillary-clinton-on-the-clear-and-present-danger-of-collusion-with-russia

Apologies if these have already been posted.Smile

As a woman of a certain age, the Pelosi comment and all the anti HRC stuff is like my former life passing before my eyes. I think it's a generational thing but it's still painful to watch for many reasons.

Gumpendorf · 15/09/2017 10:16

Maddow - damn autocorrect. Confused

Gumpendorf · 15/09/2017 12:03

Trump tweets on Parson's Green attack. Is he revealing more intelligence (a la Manchester) or just reaching for his prejudice?

Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!

Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better!

The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!

saffronwblue · 15/09/2017 12:08

Who is he exhorting to be proactive - us, himself, Scotland Yard, or even the terrorists?

OuaisMaisBon · 15/09/2017 12:22

It's bad that I really want something terrible to happen to Trump, isn't it? I don't know what to do with my anger that such an ignorant, racist, narcissistic, chauvinist, git is getting away with all this crap.

Gumpendorf · 15/09/2017 12:31

Who is he exhorting to be proactive - us, himself, Scotland Yard, or even the terrorists?

Commentators on Twitter suggesting he sees an opportunity to revive his 'Muslim ban'. He seems in a very autocratic mood this morning.

TheClaws · 15/09/2017 12:32

Gosh, he's really going off the handle.

Hello all. Haven't been on these threads as DH has been in hospital and everything got a bit much. However, I just saw the crazy arse Trump tweets following the tube explosion and had some come here just say Shock

TheClaws · 15/09/2017 12:39

Although I really don't see the point of this:

"Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better!"

'Loser terrorists' is just a lazy insult, and as for the rest, ? Is he proposing to shut off the internet?

OP posts:
BiglyBadgers · 15/09/2017 12:41

It sort of sound like he is proposing just that. I wonder if someone has told him about China's great firewall and he wants a bit internet wall of his own to keep all the nasty foriegn web folks out Hmm

PerkingFaintly · 15/09/2017 12:47

Well, I appreciate you might mean his crappy diet catching up with him, but I think it's not good to condone deliberate harm of him.

Not that I wish him happiness, but I can't see deliberate harm being a good thing.

And in fact, given the sorts of people who were his most fervent supporters - and are now increasingly disappointed - I'm concerned there's a real risk someone might decide they'd rather have a harmed 45 (casus belli!), than one in action who doesn't do what they want.

PerkingFaintly · 15/09/2017 12:50

Sorry to hear your DH is in hospital, Bigly. Flowers

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/09/2017 13:07

bigly, I hope your dh is doing ok. I'm sorry to hear about that. Flowers

lionheart · 15/09/2017 13:12

Sorry to hear that Bigly.

His travel ban is going through the Supreme Court and very much under scrutiny elsewhere.

He needs some anti-immigration/Islam legislation to stick if his wall is not going to be built and there is a DACA reversal.

I imagine that repeating the Charlottesville stance is the bone he has thrown to his deplorables.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 15/09/2017 13:45

The week started out with a bit of hope, I think - now, not so much.Sad
Speaking as a daily commuter on the District Line, my advice to Trump is 'Shut the fuck up!'
Here is a photo to cheer us all up - nothing to do with Trump, terrorists or tax - just made me happy.

In the dim corner, we have Trump! In the dictator corner, we have Kim! Or is that mixed up?

Hope things improve for you, Bigly.

AcrossthePond55 · 15/09/2017 14:09

Other issues aside, I simply cannot see Scrotus actually using the phrase "Almighty God" with any feeling for the reverence or true meaning of the phrase. He seems to me to be more of a "Big Man Upstairs" or "The Big Boss" kind of man, iyswim. Which is another reason his 'resolution' doesn't mean shit in real life.

That California bill isn't law yet. It's just passed the Assembly, now it needs to go to the State Senate and the Governor. It will be interesting to see how this 'state vs federal' issue works. Elections are run by the individual states. But does that state have the power to actually refuse to list a duly-nominated candidate for president who has technically met all the federal requirements to run?

cozietoesie · 15/09/2017 14:13

I'd say No. (But then I'm no lawyer.)

cozietoesie · 15/09/2017 17:11

A Beast piece on the DACA deal.

In Schulosi we trust

cozietoesie · 15/09/2017 17:17

And another Beast piece.

Trump allies fear betrayal is the new normal

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 15/09/2017 18:09

Thanks cozie. Fear of betrayal should've been on their radars long before this - he has no loyalty to anyone or anything other than what makes him feel good.

I think this article might be overstating it but
