We are 100% set on Noah.

Joseph is a name that's on both sides... We also really like it Smile

Does it sound too religious?

Only if your surname is Christ Grin

RainbowPastel · 04/09/2017 00:18

I like both names but they don't go together.

VonHerrBurton · 04/09/2017 00:19

Hmmm.. honestly? Yes. Love both names though! Smile

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/09/2017 00:20

They are both Christian names. But then so are a lot of names. And no one uses middle names. I wouldn't know what the middle names of the Noahs I know are.

I LOVE Joseph BTW and would have used it were DD a boy and DH wasn't vehemently opposed to it.

GreatFuckability · 04/09/2017 00:21

I wouldn't give it a second thought tbh. both nice names.

PollyFlint · 04/09/2017 00:24

Lots of the names we use in this country are Biblical; I wouldn't worry about it. I certainly wouldn't assume that the parents of a baby with that name were religious any more than I'd assume the parents of a baby called Adam Luke or whatever were religious.

I mean, if you'd announced you were calling him Ezekiel Jedediah God-Hath-Mercy or something in the style of a 17th century Puritan, I might have a few concerns, but Noah and Joseph are fairly standard these days.

WyfOfBathe · 04/09/2017 00:32

I would assume the parents of Noah Joseph were Christians or at least had a church background. However not that many people are going to use his middle name, so most people he/you meet won't know.

BackieJerkhart · 04/09/2017 00:34

Yes they're biblical so using both I would assume you were a religious family.

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 04/09/2017 00:43

I really like both names but agree that they are not easy to say together.

OlennasWimple · 04/09/2017 00:45

Can you agree on a name to go between them? Noah Joseph is quite hard to say

AuditAngel · 04/09/2017 00:46

Out if 3 children and 2 names each, only one name we have isn't a religious name for our DC, but we have a weird surname

BackForLunch · 04/09/2017 00:49

I don't mind if they don't flow Smile he'll hardly ever need to say them together.

OP posts:
NuffSaidSam · 04/09/2017 01:37

No, they're both very common names so though originally they have religious roots (like loads and loads of names) I don't think they're thought of as religious names now.

bananafish81 · 04/09/2017 08:44

Could just as easily be Jewish as Christian

Joseph is an Old Testament name, plenty of Jewish Noahs and Josephs

09chelle74 · 04/09/2017 08:46

My son is Jacob Joseph and we are not religious and no one has ever mentioned anything to us

Tulipblank · 04/09/2017 08:48

My son is Joseph Peter. Didn't think of the religious connection until this thread!

x2boys · 04/09/2017 08:49

My son has a far more religious first name and second name he's baptised Catholic (he would have gone to a Catholic school but has complex needs so goes to a special school) we are not overly religious .

notanotherNC · 04/09/2017 08:51

Far too religious sounding for my liking. I would assume you were serious Christians. But it is your baby if you like it then go for it.

ProfAnnieT · 04/09/2017 08:56

I don't think it sound religious but to my ear the "NoJo" aspect doesn't work. But then middle names are used rarely so it probably wouldn't sound as clunky day to day.

budgiegirl · 04/09/2017 08:56

Both lovely names, it wouldn't occur to me that you were particularly religious. Both my DSs have biblical names, but we're not at al religious, and , to my knowledge, no one has assumed we are.

burninghigh · 04/09/2017 09:03

Does it matter? Nice traditional names. I like Joseph a lot by the way.

namechangedforthisreply · 04/09/2017 09:15

I like both names but don't think they go together

minisoksmakehardwork · 04/09/2017 09:18

I'd not worry. We have a Joshua Joseph. They go together, we like them. Jobs a goodun.

Nikephorus · 04/09/2017 09:25

I like both but they don't go together and they do conjure up the image of a child with a tea-towel over his head in a school nativity or something!
(Joshua Joseph works - it flows better, and not a tea towel in sight for some reason)

SpottedGingham · 04/09/2017 09:36

How are you pronouncing Noah? I've heard it said no-uh, no-ah and norr. It's a nice name though and goes well with Joseph. Smile
