I'm really don't want to go to work tomorrow as I've had enough of selfish workmate.
I really love my work. I've been in this job for 10 years, find it fulfilling, great terms and conditions but if things carry on I will go mad.
Colleague had twins 5 years ago and returned to work 2 days a week. Since she had her DC she seems to think that they take priority over her job - even when she is at work. Her DM and SIL take care of them so I would assume they are reliable and trustworthy but she rings them every half hour to check on things. Every half hour WITHOUT FAIL. She will even excuse herself from meetings.
My main issue though is that every appointment she has, doctor, dentist etc she arranges on the days she is at work. We have flexible working to accommodate for this, more so for full time staff who work every day, so we take shorter breaks or start early/finish late to make up the time but she doesn't bother. She just goes off for an hour or so at a time and that's it. This has been going on for years and I've spoken to my boss but nothing is ever addressed with her.
Anyway, her DC start school soon and she came in last week with a list of things she just MUST attend at school - prize givings, parents in-school days, assemblies and I know if they're on either of her 2 working days she will just go.
She won't have holiday leave to cover this as she is off for most of the summer and I'm sure she will want half term etc now too.
I've just had enough and it makes me so angry that she thinks this is acceptable.
AIBU to make an official complaint to Personnel?

Oh dear it looks like the shit is going to hit the fan with the cheeky fucker.

Abouttoblow · 08/10/2017 21:22

Absolutely EBear

If I had an hour of inactivity I would have a corresponding meeting/appointment with a client etc in my diary. Everything is organised through the same system.
There is no way to cover yourself for pissing off for an hour or whatever.

It's going to be an eye opener for management and I think her too.

Awaiting tomorrow's update with interest. (Needed to NC and this was the first thing that came to mind Grin)

MrsMKJ · 08/10/2017 23:52

OP I have read the full thread. Excellent idea getting personnel in!! Can't possibly respond to all the ridiculous comments but I'm so pleased for you that things are moving forward. A little high five to you Cake

I once worked in a team of three, I worked really hard. Team got called in and carpeted for production drop. I’m thinking WTF? I’m working my ass off here... how?

Management pulled email records, and it turned out that one person spent most of her time shopping for shoes on the web, while the other two of us were flogging ourselves into the floor to keep up.

Wasters are usually caught in the end.

It’s this kind of thing that makes employers wary of offering flexibility:(

Cagliostro · 09/10/2017 08:28

I can't wait for the next update after the audit. I'm hoping you get an email saying "OMG it's so unfair I owe 153 hours :( how much do you owe?" And you and your colleagues will all be like, erm, none. :o :o :o

Familyof3or4 · 09/10/2017 08:46

Great thread.
I used to work shifts with a colleague who was often late to start her morning meaning I was late to leave my night shift. She would arrive and get coffee and not actually start work for ages when I was on days with her. Drive me round the bend but fortunately only did 6 months with her.

WellThisIsShit · 09/10/2017 12:28

Ha! Hoist by her own petard :)

stressedbeyond123 · 09/10/2017 13:37

OP i completely and utterly agree with you - this would wind me up a treat!

I wouldn't even bother complaining, i would bring it straight up with her (in a nice way of course) and say its been noted by quite a few people that time not worked is not being made up...she what she says - if she ignores it then i would most definitely complain - and tell her i'm doing it to!!

its absolutely not on that everyone has to do their jobs and abide by the "rules", while she basically just does what suits her x

Just come back from lunch and she's here!

In the meeting room with our boss Shock

The sense of anticipation is almost overwhelming!

CodLiverOil556 · 09/10/2017 14:03

Ooooh how long would an audit take to be done? Is it just a case of checking through a record?

UtahGirl12 · 09/10/2017 14:05

absolutely shamelessly place marking Oooh, do let us know what happens next OP!

WetsTheVet · 09/10/2017 14:07

Yanbu. Nothing more demoralising than seeing people you work with get paid for doing fuck all

BlueSapp · 09/10/2017 14:07

Omg this is more exciting than Eastenders.

midnightmisssuki · 09/10/2017 14:30

nooooo - i have a three hour meeting now which means i will have to wait for the update!!! The AGONY!

AnneLovesGilbert · 09/10/2017 14:31

But who's looking after her precious babies?!

Sedona123 · 09/10/2017 14:35

Any update? Also, any idea how far back (months or even years 😁) the audit could check?

Appuskidu · 09/10/2017 14:37

Blimey! Do you know if she's been summoned in or was it her that requested the meeting?!

FarceFace · 09/10/2017 14:41

i'm starting to feel a bit sorry for the cheeky fecker - one the one hand, deluded and self righteous, on the other hand, i hope they just get a bit of a nasty shock and not into a huge amount of trouble.

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 09/10/2017 14:44

Nah. She's been taking the piss. Management should have acted earlier though. FTCF indeed.

FarceFace · 09/10/2017 14:46

she might've gotten away with it if she'd changed her ways and kept schtum, trying to defend her actions and asking to go up a day to do her personal stuff at work is probably what's done for her.
