I'm really don't want to go to work tomorrow as I've had enough of selfish workmate.
I really love my work. I've been in this job for 10 years, find it fulfilling, great terms and conditions but if things carry on I will go mad.
Colleague had twins 5 years ago and returned to work 2 days a week. Since she had her DC she seems to think that they take priority over her job - even when she is at work. Her DM and SIL take care of them so I would assume they are reliable and trustworthy but she rings them every half hour to check on things. Every half hour WITHOUT FAIL. She will even excuse herself from meetings.
My main issue though is that every appointment she has, doctor, dentist etc she arranges on the days she is at work. We have flexible working to accommodate for this, more so for full time staff who work every day, so we take shorter breaks or start early/finish late to make up the time but she doesn't bother. She just goes off for an hour or so at a time and that's it. This has been going on for years and I've spoken to my boss but nothing is ever addressed with her.
Anyway, her DC start school soon and she came in last week with a list of things she just MUST attend at school - prize givings, parents in-school days, assemblies and I know if they're on either of her 2 working days she will just go.
She won't have holiday leave to cover this as she is off for most of the summer and I'm sure she will want half term etc now too.
I've just had enough and it makes me so angry that she thinks this is acceptable.
AIBU to make an official complaint to Personnel?

I don't know how I managed to miss the last update but glad I've caught up now

This is the most satisfying comeuppance cf story ever. She was blatant and unrepentant. And now it's all come back to bite her on the arse.

Op - you are truly amazing. Well bloody done. May your workplace be free of cfs from now on and you can get on with your actual job. Many Gin and Cake and Flowers

Thanks aaaarg Smile

Blue I sympathise that you've been left to pick up the pieces but believe me it's still a win to get rid.
The atmosphere in our team is so much better now our CF has gone. No one rolling their eyes when she flounces off for some ridiculous reason and silently fuming about the time she was stealing.
It'll be worth it in the long run Flowers

blue I would be making that management's problem, if I were you. Even if you know the answer, I would suggest asking so who is going to clear all of this up?

So she'd actually put your name on an application form as her line manager? Or she'd already given your name as a referee?

Either way - that's breath-taking.

Your BIL has had a lucky escape. Someone else is going to give her a job, though.

She might get job offers but they'll be dependent on a reference, which right now isn't going to be forthcoming. At least until she goes about it the right way.

squeaver She had completed an online application and had put in my details as her line manager and referee.

Now I think you probably could send BIL a link to the thread!

Read your original thread t the time but missed the ending. Seemed like good riddance at the time. This is the most entitled behaviour I have ever come across. It's frightening. You are doing the right thing to have reported.

Late to this, but I just read the whole thread in one go. Wow. Thank you OP!

Ringing every half hour indicates some sort of anxiety issue in my book... unless they have significant health problems. When my mum has my twins for a few hours I just enjoy not having to think of them for a while!!

It would have been funny for your BiL to call her for interviews and ask her all related stuff. So FTCF, how would you balance fitting in a meeting with Mrs Brown and her toddlers if you hadn't yet had your muffin?
FTCF , you come in to work and realise half way through an important meeting you forget to nip out for coffee, what would you do to rectify this?

Yep -
Miss FTCF - you are halfway through the work day and realise that your dh has forgotten his wedding ring. What do you do?

OMG, About - I lost your thread after the first hiatus, so didn't catch up with all the developments - have just picked up the link from your current thread and sat and read all of this completely open-mouthed at her front - who the fucking fuck did she think she was?

I've worked with some piss-takers before, but NOTHING to that extent.

I think you've handled the whole thing really well, from start to finish and I hope that somewhere down the line the management who allowed her to get away with this level of FTCF in the first place have received a bit of a kick up the arse too.

As for the referee situation - words fail me. She just has no concept of what she is asking you to do, does she. No moral compass or code of ethics At All.

I'm so glad that she no longer works for you and I'm so glad your BIL found out prior to interview what a liar she was!

Now I'm going back to your current thread to read the rest of it - I can see the apple didn't fall very far from the tree though!

Brilliant Thread OP, although I did have to laugh at the brainwashed arse that posted this -

I'm a HR business partner and I have nothing to do with hiring, paying or firing people - that is down to managers. I'm involved with strategic stuff - workforce planning, skills strategies etc.

Yeah, all you lot do it reduce the amount of work the workers can do by firing all sorts of box ticking bullshit at them!

All you're there for is to rubberstamp my hirings & firings - and don't you forget it!!
