2.4 million followers Louise Pentlandite has got! MOD's following is miniscule compared to that. And yet so much annoyance is directed at MOD?
Is LP much more transparent with #ads/sponsorship/freebie then? I'd never heard of her before now.

GherkinSnatch · 07/09/2017 21:17

LP's audience tends to be younger than MOD from what I've seen - more your teenaged YouTube viewers and the ones that are now in their early 20s. Your Zoella types.

Mumofkids · 07/09/2017 21:36

Misshenty LP made her name as SprinkleofGlitter teenage girls definitely know her!

ItsAllAboutThePace · 07/09/2017 23:04

She's now in the channel mum circle, being pregnant again I guess she's trying to shift the focus a bit and gain an older audience

I quite like Louise though

Fairylea · 08/09/2017 07:23

My dd is 14 and loves Louise P. I think originally she started following her because Zoella mentioned her and she did a lot of interior design / craft type stuff. However she's grown to really like her and still likes all her posts. I find it strange because dd wouldn't dream of following half the people I follow who are similar (mod, fod etc etc) but Louise is loved by teens.

BabsGanoush · 08/09/2017 09:02

Careful what you say... LP was on MN only a few months ago (Live chat I recall), plugging talking about her new book

Makemeacuppa · 08/09/2017 11:19

No idea who LP is ? I like mother pukka tbh

As soon as you express a differing opinion or criticism the word 'troll' is thrown about , think it's the new buzzword 😂

Mrshhere · 08/09/2017 15:35

Don't you think this is slightly off subject with the personal attack on how someone looks?

I agree with a large number of comments in the thread, the comments that are having a say regarding advertising and kids safety but the personal attacks on people are not great. We can all get personal about others and say what we want when hidden behind a keyboard I suppose!

rightnowimpissed · 08/09/2017 15:43

The thing is when someone puts their face on the screen they are gonna get judged, I don't because i don't want judged its that simple.

BubbleAnimal · 08/09/2017 19:21

There is a marked difference between judging someone on their parenting style/Instagram accounts and making personal comments about the way they, or their children look.

JillyCooper2015 · 08/09/2017 19:40

I have to say after this thread I've been a lot more conscious of my follows and have unfollowed a lot of people from all walks of IG for over advertising - whether they're up front or not.

Feels good to give it a bit of a #konmari Grin

user1464795209 · 08/09/2017 20:08

Lots of hello fresh ad's
Now and Johnsons all
At the same time .. it's seriously dull now
... and the whole 'if you don't like ad's look away after the thread on here .
Most of them are
Highly annoying I have to say . They won't last .. soon there will be a new craze of people to follow

rightnowimpissed · 08/09/2017 21:39

I'm just telling the truth, if someone is selling themselves on their appearance then they are fair game. Btw I would never speak about a child and the person in question doesn't have any kids so........Hmm

Mrshhere · 09/09/2017 08:18

But the one you mention, Mrs Rackley, I've had a look at her page and it seems to be all about interior stuff not selling herself on her appearance. I agree she is pushy with the shark ads etc and this what the whole point of this thread, advertising and not making it clear. MNHQ have deleted your previous comment so it obviously was deemed inappropriate. You should be able to debate an issue without personal attacks on how someone looks, attacking a person about such things is bullying, especially when done behind a keyboard as I imagine that you would never say those words to someone's face. The joys of the Internet 🙄

rightnowimpissed · 09/09/2017 09:55

She writes a blog and she does stories where she talks about make up and clothes and watches and stuff like that that she wants to sell, they may have deleted my comment because someone went crying to them but what I said wasn't anything anyone else looking at these stories wasn't thinking.

I don't have time for all this "oh look at me I'm getting trolled" rubbish that was my main point she had one little comment which was nasty or even negative about one of her "projects" and she went of on one. These insta selling models are all the same regardless if they have kids or not it's underhand and wrong, just think about the influence they are having on younger people even if they declare it's and ad at the end of a list of hastags it's not right. The companies are taking advantage, and these people are letting them!

FANTINE2 · 09/09/2017 11:20

I must admit that this thread has been something of an eye opener for me. I have never followed any of the instamums, but having had a look at their accounts I can see how some of them blatantly advertise goods etc.
I do follow several mid life bloggers however, and have begun to see them in a slightly different light. They are quite cleverly blatantly advertising and pushing certain brands, services etc. The amount of clothing that they must receive as freebies must be huge,[yes, i am jealous]. I did feel a little hmmm this week when my favourite mid life blogger wrote a piece on day to night wear featuring a well known store. She didn't say that she had been asked to do this by said store, I just assumed that these items of clothing had genuinely been picked and modelled by her, i.e. they were from her wardrobe. I quite enjoyed the blog, but then realised that at least four other mid life bloggers had alsowritten similar blogs, and they were all pictured wearing various outfits. Now, have those items been gifted, or do the bloggers have to return them? My favourite blogger used to write about her clothes/outfits etc, as well as her day to day family life, but I am beginning to sense her moving more and more towards the endorsement of labels etc. I do find this all a little disingenuous since she has always made a point out of stating that she will only work with those brands that she believes in. She seems to be believing in more and more of them!.
Another blogger waxed lyrical about a certain brand of "white" clothing. Her next blog showed her modelling items from said company sent to her as a thank you for her nice comments. I find this attitude quite grabby.
Similarly two different bloggers have recently received expensive, Botox/ Fillers treatments from a cosmetic clinic in the North West. One declared that the clinic had approached her to choose the treatments, but the other left you with the impression that this was her deciding that she wanted some treatments. Favourable reviews followed.
So, in my opinion these bloggers are receiving large amounts of freebies, which i suppose is an indication that their blogs are successful, but I do think that some of them are beginning to compromise themselves with their more loyal followers.
Where do you draw the line?

MissHenty · 09/09/2017 12:33

@FANTINE this type of behaviour you are describing, i.e. where the instagrammer is falsely trying to pass themselves off to their followers as a genuine consumer (e.g. Like many have speculated that MOD and FOD appear to have done with Martinhal), seems to be a clear breach of the CAP code.

The CAP code states at Clause 2.3 that "marketing communications must not falsely claim that the marketer is acting as a consumer... marketing communications must make clear their commercial intent, if that is not obvious from the context".

The CAP code is overseen by the Advertising Standards Agency, so it's the ASA we should be complaining to to push for more transparency &honesty from these insta-stars. I really am shocked at how disingenuous these people are prepared to be. I looked at some of MOD's Martinhal insta posts- the one of her face in a head wrap- she's ignored countless legitimate requests from followers about whether her post is sponsored or not and whether they paid for the holiday. But she has readily replied to questions regarding the Martinhal kids club opening times etc! Something to hide? Disgraceful.

Beadieeye · 09/09/2017 15:43

Just unfollowed one who happened to win a competition for another Instagram business. I called it last night when I saw her post about it and sure enough, she's won it today. Oh, and is now offering a discount code for the place. They are all in it together. This happens all the time, I just don't respect how they take their followers for idiots.

WipsGlitter · 10/09/2017 17:27

MOD and FOD are off to Madagascar with wateraid.

Interesting.

rightnowimpissed · 10/09/2017 17:53

Have unfollowed all these absolute fakers, only have real people and actual companies who are advertising at me so I know it on my feed now.

That sort of fake personal life stuff has abosolutly made my blood boil now

Absofrigginlootly · 10/09/2017 18:04

Beadieeye would that be one of the ones I linked to above?

I saw the same thing happen and was feeling surprised because I've been following that account for over a year and that's never been there style so I was disappointed - especially after I recommended them on here!!

I agree, I hate all that cliquey stuff where they just let each other 'win' especially if it's supposed to be a 'randomly generated' winner... in terms of advertising law, I can't imagine that's legal?

Absofrigginlootly · 10/09/2017 18:05

*their style (grammar police!)

allaboardtheallergybus · 10/09/2017 19:24

Why interesting?
