But this ALWAYS happens whenever MN has the audacity to criticise anyone who has a blog. It happened the exact same way last year when there was that thread calling out CH for her lack of transparency. Fuck me, we were excoriated as a forum. Pack of bitches etc etc. Won't somebody think of the sisterhood, there's a special place in hell, blah blah blah.

When the point of the thread was "Here is a highly influential person who is not fully disclosing her collaborations and partnerships - we believe this is naive at best, shady at worst"

After that (literally) she started putting up massive disclaimers and being very transparent. Which was a good thing, yes? A positive thing for her subscribers? A result?

But we were just portrayed as vile monsters hurting the poor ickle innocent blogger. And it's happening again today.

langkaw · 03/09/2017 11:23

You should be proud of the Richard madely comment classy. #forgetthehaterz

Runningyogabooze · 03/09/2017 11:23

If those Miele machines weren't free I'll eat my hat.

That whole saga of her blatantly setting out to get free machines and then getting them made me sick. Astonished that anyone didn't realise what she was up to!

EsmeeMerlin · 03/09/2017 11:23

I think that if you are making a business out of your instagram by putting on ads and sponsored videos then you surely need to open yourself to reviews and comments like any other business.

This whole oh they are a mum hating bitch because they dared to say I show a lot of ads. I mean seriously? Where does it end? If a instagram mum brings out a book, are we allowed to review like any other book or is that bitchy as well Hmm

BubbleAnimal · 03/09/2017 11:26

Esmee I have actually seen someone give constructive feedback to an instagrammer on their book. To be told they were rude and shouldn't go to an author saying they didn't like something. I was actually pretty shocked.

Caprianna · 03/09/2017 11:27

I mostly follow peoples travelblogs so followed Courtney Adamo/Adams when she was travelling with her family. Now her feed is really boring and samey and I have unfollowed.

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 03/09/2017 11:27

It's the blind following the blind over there

But I've temporarily followed a couple so I can laugh at it all..... some of it is so pretentious! Comedy gold

Miele? We would do better reviews over here

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/09/2017 11:27

Bubble was that MoD's baby book?

NaughtyNannyPlum · 03/09/2017 11:28

To be fair, that Richard Madeley comment made my year Grin

langkaw · 03/09/2017 11:28

The only girl has really got my back up. The virtue signalling about growing up in the land of the free (Brighton?!) and then having her innocence cruelly snatched away....by people having an opinion.

Fairylea · 03/09/2017 11:28

I think FoD would actually laugh at the RM link. It is funny. Grin

I think for what it's worth FoD does do a great job of promoting a positive "modern Dad" thing. Take away the ads and you've got someone having a laugh with their kids, getting stuck in with the housework and generally "parenting the shit out of life" (see what I did there WinkGrin) and - I don't know if anyone's said this- but he recently donated thousands to cancer research from doing a sponsored cycle ride and leg wax.

The ads may be annoying but these people aren't bad eggs. I think the discussion about ads is a valid one - and you're right I can't see Persil turning up here or online if we had a moan about their advertising!

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 03/09/2017 11:28

Who is CH?

Another 'fun' one to follow?Wink

BubbleAnimal · 03/09/2017 11:29

No it wasn't still. It was someone who hasn't been mentioned on any of these threads. I can't remember actually whether the response happened via Twitter or Instagram, and it was a while ago. I just remember thinking then, what's the difference between an anonymous review on Amazon, or going directly to the author. It wasn't overly negative, far from it, but it was handled imo weirdly. But then again, I wasn't the one receiving criticism.

spiney · 03/09/2017 11:30

The discussion about ads is totally valid.

Jamonmysocks · 03/09/2017 11:32

Ah I missed that thread by it completely explains her over reaction today! She was brought up as being a bit shady on another forum a few years ago and went mad but I guess it didn't have as much coverage as mumsnet because nothing changed on her blog.

Jamonmysocks · 03/09/2017 11:35

A very prominent beauty blogger who specialises in skin care, not sure I'm brand enough to name her!!

chickaleta · 03/09/2017 11:35

I think the brands and agents will be loving this ruckus because it all adds to the popularity of their stars.

Boredboredboredboredbored · 03/09/2017 11:36

I'm shocked that The Frugality posted this on Mother Pukkas discussion

Anyone who judges anyone else for how they support their family isn't worth the time

Although she hasn't got children I would have expected more from such a prolific influential poster. Once again the point of the thread has been massively missed Confused

DillyDilly · 03/09/2017 11:36

....If those Miele machines weren't free I'll eat my hat. ...

I suspect they were free and I think that's a huge issue with some bloggers. They really come across as grabby, it was cringey how Motherofdaughters so openly begged for a freebie (and not for the first time) and yet couldn't even credit the machines as being gifted. The same when promoting some small company baby skincare products - had to get it in that she was 'hint, hint' to the supplier out of the bath wash.

As well as the mandatory sponsored or advertisement hashtags, there should also be one for gifted/promotion and soliciting for goods shouldn't be allowed.

How does it work tax wise I wonder? The odd small freebie doesn't have to be accounted for I'm sure but an expensive washing machine and dryer that is 'gifted' surely must have some tax implication, even if it's not publically acknowledged as a gift but yet there is promotion of it. The same with expensive non paid for holiday villas and so on.

spiney · 03/09/2017 11:37

I hate bitchiness for the sake of bitchiness as much as the next person.

But if you can discuss a Persil Ad you or a magazine you can discuss an insta account.

Since when were things not up for discussion? It's not a police state.

Calling criticisms bitchiness, sniping, hating etc is just a kind of crap bullying.

ASauvingnonADay · 03/09/2017 11:40

The discussion about ads is totally valid.
This.

BubbleAnimal · 03/09/2017 11:40

It will be interesting to see whether this holiday next week is more obviously tagged. The previous cruise one wasn't, nor was the Greece one, so I wonder if they're now going to be more transparent.

I liked the normality of MODs post this morning, and her stories.

ElspethFlashman · 03/09/2017 11:41

Ah fuck, I guess I have to unfollow The Frugality so.

One thing about all of this, it's casting light on who I don't need to have on my feed.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 03/09/2017 11:41

I do recall MoD trying to blag a Mulberry 'Clemmie' bag a while ago but they ignored or didn't see it . It was in her stories so vanished after the 24 hours.

I'm honestly a bit shocked about the machines , that's £2,000 worth at least of free white goods, surely they can afford it themselves.

I'm a naive twat at times.

Dalesgirl16 · 03/09/2017 11:42

I just don't bet what MOD is about anymore - just ad after ad. She didn't come across well in the stories posted with the other instamum at the Boden party-loving the glamour and posing up a storm. The nit post about hair bands from Boots was a low - do you really need to do that? Had to unfollow.
