To think that somebody must know the sick evil **** who has been killing people's cats

So some sick twisted evil * * has been taking people's cats and killing them and returning their bodies with parts missing. I won't rant on about it as it is just awful but surely someone must have noticed a family member or neighbour acting oddly or seen some evidence of what the sick b..... has been doing. I just don't understand how this can have been happening for so long. Sad

Hasn't this been going on for years though? I thought I recalled something similar around the M25 area or south London down into the M23?

Just wondering if it did happen years ago then started up again maybe that's a clue as to who is doing this (though I'm sure the police are umpteen steps ahead of me).

It's horrific - someone has be really very screwed up to hurt an animal like this and it breaks my heart to think of a cat going to say a hello to a human and this happening.

Brazenhussy0 · 01/09/2017 15:52

I personally believe that the days of allowing a cat to just potter around the neighbourhood are probably over unless you live somewhere very remote.

Agreed. My cats have been raised as housecats and my Mum’s cat was a former outdoors cat who has become a housecat in the past few years.
Cats are very adaptable and as long as they have enough entertainment, space and horizontal levels to use indoors, they can live very happy and content lives without setting foot outside.
Cat runs and enclosed outdoor spaces are another option for particularly restless cats.

It really fucks me off that Cats Protection and the RSPCA won’t rehome cats to people without gardens and won’t rehome cats as indoor pets when their shelters are full to bursting.

As for the cat killer...He better hope the police catch him before the public do.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 01/09/2017 16:12

People who are saying it is a minimal risk, although the majority of the killings have been around South London and Surrey, they have been countrywide.

It only takes one night or even day of thinking it is a minimal risk and you could be without your pet.

In a minimal risk area there have still been killings. Don't forget also that there must also be plenty that have not been reported to SNARL because there are so many people who have no idea it is going on, even now.

I donated to SNARL because without funds they will be unable to continue, they are funding some of the PMs and their travel plus they have a rescue to run.

There are leaflets to be paid for. If you want to help they had an organised leaflet drop. You don't have to be in their area to do it. Print a poster from the one online and display it in your window (not if you let your cat out as that would be asking for trouble) or in your local shop, vet, charity shop, anywhere that will permit it.

13bastards · 01/09/2017 16:20

I wouldn't be accountable for my actions if this happened to one of my mogs.

There was one two roads away from me, I've ended up letting mine back out because they were so miserable being kept in, but I am scared every time I open the cat flap.

HelenaDove · 01/09/2017 16:35

Locally a cat here was attacked and killed by a lurcher recently The dog owner said "well thats what lurchers do" The family who owned the cat are quite rightly and understandably heartbroken and devastated.

Police dont want to know.

Terfing · 01/09/2017 16:42

Well, if he is up north, he better watch his back. I hope the next cat he tries to lure scratches the shit out of him! Angry

Argeles · 01/09/2017 17:47

I hope that this vile c* gets caught soon.

The problem is though, that this country is far too soft on most criminals, including those who mistreat and murder animals.

I can't begin to imagine what horrors those beautiful, innocent, defenceless cats went through, and how their poor owners must feel.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 01/09/2017 17:54

I am consoling myself with what the public will do to him one day because he won't get what he deserves if it is done via the justice system.

It is in the Guardian now www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/aug/31/police-issue-description-of-croyden-cat-killer

MsMims · 01/09/2017 19:25

This has been an ongoing situation for a couple of years now. Unbelievable that he hasn't been caught yet. Can only urge people to keep their eyes peeled and donate to SNARL if you're able to. They have been absolutely committed to this case alongside running a rescue full time.

Also, it's best to keep cats in at night regardless. It's what the cats protection league recommend.

DeadDoorpost · 01/09/2017 19:29

To me it sounds like someone's taken a fancy to the Murakami book Kafka on the Shore and decided that killing cats is a good idea. This is the first I've heard of it though, although my nan mentioned last week that a lot of cats have been going missing recently.

ethanrayne · 01/09/2017 19:41

I've been aware of this for a while and think it is very worrying

CluelessBint · 01/09/2017 19:42

When I moved into my old house my next door neighbour told me if he ever saw my cat on his land I wouldn't see it again. I don't even have a cat Confused.

Loads of cats went missing in that area and everyone was convinced it was him. Police not interested though as cats do just go missing.

glitterysand · 01/09/2017 22:48

@CluelessBint you didn't live near Croydon did you?

Me too alltoads usually im against it but im fed up of people abusing/killing animals and them getting a slap on the wrist!

scrivette · 02/09/2017 23:46

There was an alleged sighting of him last night in Surrey and a mutilated cat was found this morning in Bromley.

Bumping the thread to make people aware of anyone behaving suspiciously around cats (or rabbits or foxes).

HelenaDove · 03/09/2017 00:15

bumping too.

Decoratingsucks · 03/09/2017 00:22

Do you know whereabouts in Bromley?

Caprianna · 03/09/2017 05:37

So he was spotted 11 pm on a Friday night and the cat was also found at 1 am. This is a time a lot of people are out and about so chances of being spotted must be quite high. This case is very strange and so disturbing.

FuckingLoveCarbs · 03/09/2017 07:02

It was in west Wickham, Bromley.

glitterysand · 03/09/2017 08:54

Oh no not another one Sad what was the cretin (spelling?) doing when he was spotted in Bromley? Did someone report? I guess they must have or you wouldn't know. This person is sooo vile ugh

OP posts:
scrivette · 03/09/2017 10:08

I think he was spotted in Surrey - presumably matching the description of the suspect.

Unfortunately a mutilated black cat was found in West Wickham. It was reported that it will be extremely difficult to identify the cat, which makes you wonder if he is getting panicky.

Caprianna · 03/09/2017 11:19

I am giving mine curfew of 9pm

OP posts:
Decoratingsucks · 03/09/2017 14:02

Is it likely the sighting in Hooley was him if a cat was found in West Wickham just a couple of hours later?
