To think that somebody must know the sick evil **** who has been killing people's cats

So some sick twisted evil * * has been taking people's cats and killing them and returning their bodies with parts missing. I won't rant on about it as it is just awful but surely someone must have noticed a family member or neighbour acting oddly or seen some evidence of what the sick b..... has been doing. I just don't understand how this can have been happening for so long. Sad

@Caprianna

It was always at night but there have recently been some daytime attacks. I have a vague welding there may have been one in Brixton recently but I may be wrong. I think they have been more London suburbs.

Vinorosso74 · 31/08/2017 17:57

The SNARL Facebook page updates on all killings. Sadly not all police forces have taken it seriously. I live in London and our cat is in overnight, there was one about a mile from our house and our vets have an A4 sheet in the window about it. Foxes and other animals have also been killed but mostly cats, I guess as they are domesticated and some will come to see you especially with bribes of food they are easy targets. I do worry when I see other cats out and about at night.
They are clearly very sick but serial killers are very careful with their movements. It must be someone who travels with work but I am surprised they have never been spotted on CCTV anywhere.

RubbishMantra · 31/08/2017 17:59

Keep your cats in at night, much safer for them, not just from this sickening individual, but also from RTAs. Also it's not just cats being targeted, wildlife too.

GurgleBoots · 31/08/2017 18:00

Please everyone keep your cats in at night. This individual could be anywhere.

Butterymuffin · 31/08/2017 18:02

Very angry about this as a cat owner, and I also agree that given the known link between persecuting animals and psychopathic behaviour towards humans, these crimes ought to be taken seriously. The perpetrator is potentially severely dangerous to humans as well as animals.

Caprianna · 31/08/2017 18:02

I also think its strange noone has seen him as he must be doing it close to peoples homes.

BadgeronaMoped · 31/08/2017 18:05

This case was featured on a BBC policing programme recently (not sure if it's still on the iplayer), the programme's called The Met: Policing London. Fascinating but horrific and so frustrating for the officer assigned to the case, naturally he wanted to catch the culprit.

Spangles1963 · 31/08/2017 18:07

Bloody typical that the police aren't interested. Anything to do with mistreatment of animals always seems to be very low priority in their opinion. Thankfully,my girl is an indoor cat. Our last cat just vanished one day,4 and a half years ago, never to be seen again. She DID go outdoors (impossible to keep her in tbh) and we think her friendliness towards people was probably her undoing. This is the main reason that we don't let our girl out now.

BadgeronaMoped · 31/08/2017 18:08

Checked the iplayer, episode not available.

Meant to say also that I agree with what previous posters have said about people who mistreat animals often move on to humans. I think this has been the subject of a few studies and has been proven,e.g. in the case of Ian Brady.

lovethebeach · 31/08/2017 18:11

@Vinorosso74 @Caprianna yes that's partly my point how has some sick bastard managed to kill more than 250 cats without anyone noticing anything. I have two cats and they do go out in the evening because that's what cats like to do but I hate it.
I was thinking could it be some sort of delivery driver who has a valid reason to be on someone's driveway or path? Or is the psycho enticing cats away from sight with food? So they would not be within the radar of anyone's cctv.
It must be someone that lives alone mustn't it? Because if the person lived with other people they would notice the sick behaviour. Ugggh.

kali110 · 31/08/2017 18:12

Disgusting individual. I hope people find out who he is and do the same to him Angry

Caprianna · 31/08/2017 18:12

I am so happy my cats don't watch the news as they would be so upset🙀

Racingraccoons · 31/08/2017 18:13

doodlebug5 We must do! Small world ey!

Racingraccoons · 31/08/2017 18:14

It's quite large time range though - 9:30pm to 10am.
Lots of people are awake late into the night and early morning and still the guy seems to be getting away with it ....

snotato · 31/08/2017 18:18

When my friend was younger, someone broke into her back garden and decapitated her rabbits Sad
It was not an isolated incident, and my friend was in the local paper trying to get witnesses to come forward.
I don't even think anybody was caught.Sad

glitterysand · 31/08/2017 18:20

That is a really long time range. I don't ever leave mine out all night but if it's from 9.30 until recently it was still light then. I think he has also got foxes so how on earth would he get so close to them?

OP posts:
glitterysand · 31/08/2017 18:21

Oh no @snotato that's awful too, your poor friend - and rabbits Sad

Badger I saw that episode, and it was clear that the police in Croydon were taking this very seriously, and had a dedicated officer just for these crimes. They also understood that often criminals that torture and kill animals may progress on to humans and so were giving it a lot of time and resources.

They realised that the offender had probably enticed the cats with a jingly bell on a stick and even searched shops and online traders trying to find who had bought the cat toy.

I didn't realise it was nationwide, I thought it was predominantly around south west London especially Croydon. Such an awful crime and as a cat owner I'd be devastated if someone did that to our puss Sad

IcaMorgan · 31/08/2017 18:22

I live in an area where he has killed and I won't let my cats out once it gets dark. If one doesn't come back by the time it gets dark I panic until he comes home. I'm really grateful for SNARL for all their hard work on this

mumtomaxwell · 31/08/2017 18:31

Shit, I had no idea... I live near to one of these locations. My cats will be staying in overnight for the foreseeable future. What an evil fucker this person is!

glitterysand · 31/08/2017 18:33

What a difficult job SNARL have and yes it's horrific Sad
I can't even begin to imagine how those families are feeling. Its awful losing a pet through accident or illness but someone deliberately doing it Sad

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/08/2017 18:50

It's quite widespread, it can't be just one.

Horrid stuff.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 31/08/2017 19:02

To those saying the police aren't interested and there's more than one killer, please check out SNARL's website or FB page. Most police forces are taking it very seriously and the Met have set up the Operation Takahe task force to catch the killer. SNARL have confirmed that, due to forensic evidence not made public, they and the police are confident they are looking for one killer.
