To think that somebody must know the sick evil **** who has been killing people's cats

glitterysand · 31/08/2017 15:03

So some sick twisted evil * * has been taking people's cats and killing them and returning their bodies with parts missing. I won't rant on about it as it is just awful but surely someone must have noticed a family member or neighbour acting oddly or seen some evidence of what the sick b..... has been doing. I just don't understand how this can have been happening for so long. Sad

The relevant episode of The Met: Policing London is .

Hedgehog80 · 31/08/2017 19:12

The police are interested
My dsis found a cats body with a part missing they can straightbout and removed it and asked her to not circulate the picture she had taken (they had asked her to before they came out). She was very upset and they definitely took it very seriously

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/08/2017 19:13

That killer must be very mobile.

I do hope they catch him/them.

BlackJesus · 31/08/2017 19:18

due to forensic evidence not made public

Like...DNA? My mind is going awful places

scrivette · 31/08/2017 19:20

Some police forces have been more helpful than others.

Hopefully now they have released a description he will be caught soon.

The police and SNARL do believe that it is one individual doing this, despite the huge area covered. It suggests that he has access to a vehicle, I would suspect a van where he is able to take the animals, perhaps he drives for a living.

So many people are not aware of this and the only way he is going to be caught will be by people being vigilant and luck.

elevenclips · 31/08/2017 19:26

Fucked up to be out beheading cats.

However, it is a massive area to be operating over? If police reckon that it's all linked, you'd think that actually it'd be a ring of offenders operating together rather than a lone person covering that sort of area.

lovemylover · 31/08/2017 19:50

I think this has been going on for at least 2 years,
I am sure it must be someone who drives for a living too, i wouldnt be letting mine out if i lived in those areas, and its not really fair to cats that are used to going out,
Some people build a cat run. with plenty of space for them to play and have fresh air
Mine are all indoor cats, sometimes go into the gardenbut so closed off no one can get to them and they dont go anywhere
I wish this evil person could be caught

RaspberryOverload · 31/08/2017 19:52

A van driver can be all but invisible. Who do we see all the time but never really notice? Delivery drivers, the vans are all over the place.

I hadn't heard about this until very recently, but then I don't have pets. It looks as if whoever it is hasn't come to my area yet, but we're not that far off from some of the areas mentioned. Poor cats, poor owners and I'd worry about this escalating to something even more serious. This person needs to be caught.

FartSmeller · 31/08/2017 19:53

It honestly gets me so wound up Angry

I don't live anywhere near where he has killed but I can't wait for them to catch the fucker.
I'm just worried about how they will charge him. He could get barely anything.

scrivette · 31/08/2017 20:06

Recently released from SNRL

Share please:

Edit: do not approach, just call police. This is a very general description which could fit any number of people. It will not make you a hero or do you any favours if you harm someone innocent. We reiterate: call police if seen in a situation as described below.

If you see a man in his 40s, white, with short brown hair, between 5'8 and 5'11', average build, possibly with some acne scarring to his face, dressed in dark clothing, with or without a torch, trying to coax cats with a toy or feed them or looking or entering gardens, please dial 999 quoting Operation Takahe and then also call us on 07957 830490 or 07961 030064.

He may be wearing a headlamp or carrying a torch.

Do not approach him or confront him (he may be completely innocent, plenty of people out there trying to rescue or help cats), just call the police and us and let us deal with it.

If you find a body part then it should be reported to SNRL and the non emergency police number called.

Surrey report here:

www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/uk-cat-killer-first-description-13539845

AllToadsLeadToHome · 01/09/2017 01:16

From the SNARL FB page.

South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty - SNARL
28 August at 11:44 ·
We are not taking this step lightly.
This is a warning for cat owners from Manchester down to the South Coast. Please keep your cats indoors at night until further notice and during the day if you can.
Pooboy is having a cowardly hissy fit, has run away from London where he was spotted and is now killing animals across a wide area outside of London.
Keep your babes indoors please and keep your eyes open for anyone interfering with an animal, but particularly a white male, in his forties, with dark brown hair, dressed in dark, shabby clothing, possibly pock marked skin, with no discernible accent.
If you spot this man interfering with an animal, call 999 and report it and also call us. Do not approach him or try to apprehend him. Note any vehicle details.
Pooboy if you are reading this, give yourself up before members of the public get hold of you.

HelenaDove · 01/09/2017 01:23

I hope they catch this utter utter scum!!!!!!!!!!

AllToadsLeadToHome · 01/09/2017 01:54

I am actually hoping that members of the public DO get hold of him and I would like to be there if they do.

Terfing · 01/09/2017 06:45

He's lucky he's down south because if he came anyway near my cats (up north) I know I wouldn't be able to control myself! Angry

GurgleBoots · 01/09/2017 06:59

He's been up north too I'm afraid terfing

Caprianna · 01/09/2017 07:39

He must spend an awful lot of time looking for these cats and a place appropriate to catch them. I don't get why noone has seen him as people are often up at night for whatever reason aren't they? In my street peoples living rooms face the street pm both sides too.

myusernamewastaken · 01/09/2017 07:43

Absolutely terrifying that there are people doing this in our society....it could be a ndn...work colleague etc...I cannot understand why anyone would want to harm any living thing....I have an elderly trusting cat and would be devastated if anyone hurt her.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 01/09/2017 14:18

Terfing, the warning includes Manchester and surrounding areas. The killings have been widespread.

Sadly there are still a lot of people who don't know about it and others who think it won't happen to their cat so continue to let them out because they don't agree with keeping cats indoors.

hairuptoday · 01/09/2017 14:23

Somebody probably does know who is/are doing this, but don't care enough to inform on them. Although in the fullness of time allegiances change, as they say, and maybe it will come out. I just hope that happens before the killer/s move on to humans as has proven to be the case so many times. Sad

Caprianna · 01/09/2017 14:24

Well I feel very torn. My cats love being outside. I think the risk is so minimal and they are miserable inside. I do know they have of course a higher risk of having an accident if they are outside, but a life indoors seems so dull for them. I rather they lived life to the full.

AllToadsLeadToHome · 01/09/2017 14:38

Capriana, that is what I mean, people think the risk is low and then find their cat minus the head. The risk is lower during the day but SNARL have been urging people to keep their cats in at night for a long time now. And especially as the evenings are darker.

It appears that it has also happened in daytime.

As for foxes, many of them are tame now, so poor little buggers are being targeted too, along with him getting into gardens to take rabbbits.

I would like 15 minutes with him.

Eggsellent · 01/09/2017 15:01

I'm so glad that read that I was wrong about the police not being interested! According to the snarl facebook page there was one attack where the police (I can't remember which area) did not inform them and ordered the remains to be destroyed before snarl were able to check so they could not see if it had whatever this other hallmark is to confirm that it was the same person. Glad to see that other forces are much more proactive and hopefully this one has caught on now!

I've been letting my cat out at night but last night I locked the catflap when it got dark, she was not happy! It seems such a minute risk as he could be anywhere in the country and my cat doesn't go far beyond the back garden but it would be horrific if anything happened to her, especially the sick stuff this maniac has been doing. I can't imagine what would make a person do something like this, they are obviously a very disturbed and dangerous individual.

Incitatis · 01/09/2017 15:07

Can I just suggest that there are ways of confining cats to the home area. They can be kept as housecats, which isn't ideal, kept in overnight and only allowed out during the daytime, or confined to the garden/yard with catproof fencing for those owners who have a perimeter fence/wall.

We have protectapuss fencing system which you can fit yourself. Mine are also brought indoors overnight as an added precaution. Some people have cat runs as well.

There are many people out there who hate cats, not just this serial cat killer. It pays to be very cautious with allowing cats out. I personally believe that the days of allowing a cat to just potter around the neighbourhood are probably over unless you live somewhere very remote.
