I'm thinking you don't need to wish someone 'happy anniversary'?

Every year my batshit crazy sister in law has a tantrum or passive aggressive rant on social media about how not everybody has wished her and my brother 'happy anniversary.'

When did it become a thing that we all had to wish each other happy anniversary? Mine matters to dh and I, and I can see how you'd like a 'happy anniversary' from your kids on a big one like 30 or whatever but really? A tantrum because not everyone fills your timeline for your 3rd wedding anniversary?

Or am I socially inept and everyone actually does make a big deal of each other's anniversaries?

This is weird timing, our first (since marriage, 6th since we've been together) is coming up and PILs and DGF have got us cards, it's lovely of them but I genuinely didn't know this was a thing!

Just hide her on FB. I think technically you should mark the first anniversary if you were a guest, other than that you do nada until they invite you to the 25th anniversary.

Having said that, my BF has married into a family that remember each others anniversaries and send cards etc. Maybe she comes from a family like that.

My SIL is like this, she gets very upset about cards in general and has arbitrary rules about what she should and shouldn't get cards for and I've never managed too figure it out.
She fell out with us at our wedding tho so I don't have to deal with her weird shit anymore - it's awesome.

It's just horseshit. A wedding anniversary is only of importance to the married couple unless they're attention-seeking bum-pains. I must admit that the in-laws send us an anniversary card but we don't expect one. I'm the sole provider of grandchildren in our family (DH's siblings don't want children) so DH and I sometimes get special treatment Grin

Would someone please tell my DP this!
Stupid bugger keeps going on about how he should really get his sister a card for her anniversary, yet when we got engaged we got a text, well he did, and I every bloody year ask him where was our engagement card/phonecall to congratulate us?
