AIBU to be somewhat spooked at the military helicopter activity in my area this evening?

There is almost constant toing and froing of military aircraft overhead this evening. I'm getting the heebie jeebies because in my experience this activity has in the past heralded military actions in trouble spots around the world.
I'm thinking perhaps that we might be preparing for "something". I hope I'm wrong and just being a drama queen.

I wonder whether it is to do with the in having to take a stand against North Korea.

It's probably nothing.

If the aircraft have big red stars on the side then you'd be right to be worried.

I've noticed it in bath and N Yorks this week. Don't normally see them at all in either location!

I'm intrigued. Don't know much about military helicopters and can't hear any near me. I'm curious now though.

I heard something that sounded like really noisy helicopters today too, but didn't get to the window on time. Noisier than normal planes or helicopters, hmm wonder what's going on?

I have also seen them near London on friday and in York today. Definitely military helicopters, I did think to myself either something has happened or is about to

They are flying around outside my house too but it is quite common for them to do night training at our local naval base.

It's unlikely to be anything remotely abnormal. Military aircraft go up on exercises over the uk literally dozens of times every day.

Maybe just heightened awareness due to events over the part few days.

Nothing at all by the Thames here. Often quite noisy at night. But then maybe they're all up where you are.

we get this constantly. You are unlikely to ever know what they are doing. Once last year, chatting to a range of cousins on face book, two cousins hundreds of miles apart happened to see bunches of fighter jets go up at the same time. And the year before that there were so many French war ships in the Thames at one point that we were all sure something big was going to happen,

Maybe it did, but we never knew about it!

How can you distinguish military stuff from other commercial stuff?

Aren't there joint military exercises coming up? Probably training for that.

In my experience, the Powers That Are don't tell us even half the truth about what's really happening, nor will they warn us unless it's at the last moment.

Could be 'training exercise', or it could be an actual response to a real threat - they won't tell you anything other than it's a 'training exercise' though.
