To think that accusing posters of being journalists is the same as troll hunting?

I've noticed this a lot recently, and have been (falsely) accused of it myself more than once (have had a few name changes since)

AIBU to think that this is pretty much the same thing as troll hunting? And in any case does it really matter? The daily fail manage to get enough of their material from genuine threads without needing to start fake ones anyway don't they?

I find it really smug and irritating when someone feels the need to accuse someone when there's no real way of them actually knowing.

So much so that you decided to start a goady TAAT. Congratulations.

CockacidalManiac · 27/08/2017 22:45

Are you a journalist?

Floellabumbags · 27/08/2017 22:46

Cock

You must lead an , er, interesting life to be writing threads which people are accusing of being journalists!!!

More than once you say.....

FlaviaAlbia · 27/08/2017 22:49

Some are so obvious though, it's like putting a shiny toy in front of us and asking us not to play with it...

Bluntness100 · 27/08/2017 22:50

I've never been accused of being a journo. What kind of threads are you starting then? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 27/08/2017 22:50

If you suspect Trollhunting is afoot you must report it.

But if I was asked 'are you a journalist?' I would just say no I am not.

Sparklingbrook · 27/08/2017 22:52

It tends to happen when an OP starts a threads asking for opinions but giving none themselves. Like the ones that say something like 'discuss' at the end.

loveka · 27/08/2017 22:53

I got accused of being a journalist because I said I felt sorry for Sarah Harding.

I was told to jog on.

I thought this was rather silly.

Happycows · 27/08/2017 22:53

Floella It's not a TAAT it's a general thread about lots of threads. And who am I goading? Or are you one of the smug accusers and therefore feeling goaded?

No, it's happened twice and not about particularly interesting questions!

Happycows · 27/08/2017 22:54

Oops name change fail

CockacidalManiac · 27/08/2017 22:54

Nanechange fail of amusing proportions there.

honeysucklejasmine · 27/08/2017 22:55

What Sparkling said. If you don't want to be accessed of being a journalist, don't be so rude.

Floellabumbags · 27/08/2017 22:56

Why have you changed name mid thread?

honeysucklejasmine · 27/08/2017 22:56

Accessed? Christ, my proof reading standards are as low as the Fail's! Accused

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 27/08/2017 22:59

Haha.... well I think that advanced search may be our friend now...

Sparklingbrook · 27/08/2017 22:59

I am getting confused.

lotsofconfuse · 27/08/2017 23:02

I am just confused.

StickThatInYourPipe · 27/08/2017 23:02

Like the ones that say something like 'discuss' at the end oh god I have done this! Didn't get called a journo though. I just did t really know how to end the OP haha!

I wish I was a bloody journalist! I would get paid a damn load more than I do now!! even the daily fail

2rebecca · 27/08/2017 23:03

The threads where I've seen people accused of being journalists are normally in AIBU but not really AIBU questions where the poster is just wanting opinions on something, often giving minimal info on why she want the opinions, why she's chosen AIBU and where updates are slow if they happen.
These just seem like info gathering and people feel used.

LineysRun · 27/08/2017 23:04

Oh dear oh dear

Viviennemary · 27/08/2017 23:08

I never reply to threads that say discuss at the end. I'm not back at school. I'd imagine journalists would need multiple names not just two.

orlantina · 27/08/2017 23:11

I love name change fails mid thread.....

MiraiDevant · 27/08/2017 23:11

TAAT

Bluntness100 · 27/08/2017 23:15

well that went well...
