McDonald's breakfast - WHATS THE BIG DEAL?

BLUESEAPARADISE · 26/08/2017 16:27

I had my first ever McDonald's breakfast today as I was very early for DS hospital appointment .. I tried a sausage and egg mcmuffin and pancake .. I was so excited to try it as I have heard so many good things about McDonald's breakfast but I personally didn't think it didn't taste very nice ... I was very disappointed and hungry!

Did I ask for the wrong thing? I was the only one in McDonald's at the time when I ordered and didn't want to seem seem like I didn't know what I was doing ( I was clueless!) ! So i "confidently" asked the first thing I could see on the menu! BlushBlush

The thought of a Sausage and egg mcmuffin with a hash brown is what gets me through the last three hours of a night shift. Nothing else cuts it after a difficult night if I want to survive the drive home

highinthesky · 26/08/2017 17:25

BLUESPARADISE just read your later post- hope DS is ok? Flowers

SomeBerryJam · 26/08/2017 17:28

I'm the freak that orders a bacon and egg mcmuffin, a sausage and egg mcmuffin and a pancakes and sausage meal with an extra syrup. And yes, I eat the lot and yes I do actually pour my syrup over my sausage and it actually tastes fucking epic.

I do not do this every day. I do not do this every week.
I have a McDonald's breakfast maybe 3 times a year, so I like to make the most of it........

God I probably sound like a right greedy bastard. Actually, I am a right greedy bastard. Fuck it!!Shock

Sparklingbrook · 26/08/2017 17:28

Yes if you are hungover or starving a McDonald's breakfast is fabulous.

But if sober and just reasonably hungry for breakfast then Bill's.

SenecaFalls · 26/08/2017 17:29

Actually, eating American biscuits with gravy is the least common way of eating them in the US. They are most likely eaten like a dinner roll with lunch or dinner, especially in the South where they originated, or for breakfast, like pastry with butter and jam or honey, or filled with bacon and/or egg and/or cheese, or my personal favorite, salty country ham.

McDonald's makes very good ones, very like the ones my grandmother from Georgia used to make.

Perfect breakfast after a night shift. Love the Hash Browns.

bellalou1234 · 26/08/2017 17:31

They are literally my favourite food! Sausage egg mcmuffin amazing 😉

winglesspegasus · 26/08/2017 17:31

real icecream is a much nicer hangover cure
its fat content no really grease.dairy fat works just as well

RidingWindhorses · 26/08/2017 17:31

I absolutely hate McDonalds and junk food generally, but I do think their breakfast looks particularly disgusting. So no, you're not BU.

EmpressoftheMundane · 26/08/2017 17:32

seneca you cannot get an American style biscuit anywhere in the UK, not even at KFC! Imagine KFC without biscuits.

Elphame · 26/08/2017 17:34

Not the least bit U. I had an egg mcmuffin a few months ago whilst staying at a Travelodge . It was foul and most of it went in the bin.

Babyiwantabump · 26/08/2017 17:35

Double Sausage and egg mcmuffin and extra hash brown and orange juice is my favourite on way home from night shift treat!

Aeroflotgirl · 26/08/2017 17:35

I never liked the idea of a MacDonalds breakfast, seeing the pictures, they don't look very appitising. Would rather wait until 10:30 for their lunch menu.

BabychamSocialist · 26/08/2017 17:36

Sorry, but there's nothing on Earth like a Sausage and Egg McMuffin with McDonald's hash browns.

I eat them (as a treat) even when sober!

Aeroflotgirl · 26/08/2017 17:36

My idea of a nice breakfast, is a fry up.

WhispersOfWickedness · 26/08/2017 17:36

Ok, while we're on the topic of American biscuits, I've got to ask. Do they go soggy in the gravy as that is what really puts me off about them...

Katedotness1963 · 26/08/2017 17:37

My knowledge of biscuits and gravy comes from visiting the in laws in Florida and going to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. It was my favourite thing on the menu. I also learned of the wonderfulness that it sweet potato butter at Cracker Barrel....I haven't tasted that in years...

BLUESEAPARADISE · 26/08/2017 17:38

@WhispersOfWickedness good question!

Also do they eat them hot or cold? Ot just hot or just cold? ( including the gravy)

Allergictoironing

No no they still do it! You just have to ask for it as it's not on the main menu - it's DS2's favourite if we go!

BillBrysonsBeard · 26/08/2017 17:40

I have a sausage mcmuffin without egg, a bacon roll and some hash browns.. oh and a mocha. I love the taste! I know there are tastier things out there but it just satisfies my carby, sugary needs that I have sometimes Grin
Thinking about it though I probably only have them twice a year!

BarbaraOcumbungles · 26/08/2017 17:41

It's good job McDonald's don't serve breakfasts at this time of day or I'd be heading there now and blaming you lot!

Sausage and egg mcmuffin with 2 hash browns with salt on and a coffee. Heaven!

BabychamSocialist · 26/08/2017 17:41

AllergictoIroning

Actually we haven't been in over a year and they've stopped doing it! DS2 will be devastated!

SenecaFalls · 26/08/2017 17:49

Imagine KFC without biscuits. Shocking, I agree.

Biscuits and gravy: the gravy has to be hot. Pretty disgusting otherwise, in my opinion. On the other hand, my grandmother used to say the the true measure of a biscuit is how it tastes cold.

silkpyjamasallday · 26/08/2017 17:52

I want a maccys breakfast so badly now Angry my first ever one was after DP and I had our first date, we had stayed up all night dancing and it was a well appreciated meal at 6 am. DP always has three sausage egg mcmuffins in one sitting Shock

expatinscotland · 26/08/2017 17:53

YABU. The coffee is delicious. So are the hashbrowns, the Egg McMuffin, the pancakes . . . all of it. YUM.
