To think DD may be gifted?

DD has always been developmentally fast but tonight she has shocked me.

DD is 12 months old and has sat on the floor and emptied a tin of 25 sharpies. She then proceeds to put all the sharpies back in the tin but deliberately putting them colour lid up. She's turning the pens in her hand the right way up and when she puts one upside down, she pulls it out and puts it the right way up.

I'm Shock

My 12 month old was talking, doing puzzles, and unscrewing remotes to look inside when she was told she was gifted. It's possible she is - does her nursery have facilities to test?

Orangebird69 · 24/08/2017 19:00

It's good but I don't think it's 'gifted' as such.

A1Sharon · 24/08/2017 19:00

Are you sure they were Sharpie pens though OP? I think MENSA will only accept kids who can do this with Crayola? Sorry.

INFP · 24/08/2017 19:00
Grin Bless you.

No I don't think that shows she's gifted. Sorry.

But I'm sure she's a lovely kid.

Gorgosparta · 24/08/2017 19:01

There isnt anything i can say that wont end in me being accused of being patronising.

I think alot of people have been where you are though.

Ttbb · 24/08/2017 19:01

No, bit early to tell tbh.

Ellisandra · 24/08/2017 19:01
Grin Oh dear. Is that really all? Come back when at 18 months she's using those Sharpies to write equations. (on your wall Grin)
Raver84 · 24/08/2017 19:01

I wouldn't say there is anything massively unusual about it some babies and toddlers like to put things in order and be "just right". Tidy baby.

Oysterbabe · 24/08/2017 19:01

Grin😂

formerbabe · 24/08/2017 19:01

Definitely gifted!!

Viserion · 24/08/2017 19:03

Must be a first one. By the time you get to the second, you KNOW to never allow access to Sharpies under ANY circumstances.

SaucyJack · 24/08/2017 19:04

Aw.

It's always a huge source of amazement when your teeny tiny newborn grows into an actual person and acquires skills.

I'm constantly gobsmacked that DD1 can sit on a chair without falling off. She bought herself chips the other week. Genius!

reallybadidea · 24/08/2017 19:05

It's probably too early to tell, but she might be. However you were never going to be able to get mumsnetters to agree that a child is gifted. Even if you had said that your child 6 month old has just written a 3000 word critique of one of Shakespeare's sonnets you would have had replies saying 'my child did that at 4 months, 6 months is quite average' Grin

Bluntness100 · 24/08/2017 19:05

She likes the colours huh? Grin

It's cute.

stormytherabbit · 24/08/2017 19:06

My 12 month old could push yours down the stairs à la Damien from the omen.

WHO LEAVES A BABY WITH SHARPIES

Fancyacuppaluv · 24/08/2017 19:07

Definitely gifted... 😂

Ellisandra · 24/08/2017 19:07

Reallybad that is true Grin
But I think putting some pens in a tub following a pattern isn't really trying hard enough!

I agree with Saucyjack being impressed at the chip buying.

I think it took me 5 years to stop being amazed that my child could speak fluently. It's just that anything they do is wonderful - enjoy it!

BaxterStockboy · 24/08/2017 19:08

So, a 1 year old managed to put pens back into the box? Yes, definatly gifted Confused
