So I know it's nothing major in the grand scheme of things but I'm pretty fucked off. I've a few appointments coming up shortly and a trusted person ( not going into specifics as outing ) has royally dropped me in the shit. Now if this person had originally said sorry I'm not available that would've been fine I could've a) arranged someone else or b) cancelled. Now it's too late to cancel and I'm flapping trying to sort out alternative care. So am I being unreasonable to think you shouldn't agree to something if your unwilling to commit ? Btw there was no reason given to suddenly becoming unavailable.

I agree with you. You're only as good as your word. Obviously, sometimes there can be circumstances beyond your control when you have to go back on your word, but if that's the case, you are responsible for making arrangements to stay true to your word as much as possible.

I'd be annoyed too OP. If this is a pattern of behaviour I wouldn't rely on them again in future.

IDO not a chance in hell will I ever rely on this person again. I can totally understand and sympathise if something sudden has come up but thinking back this person has let me down before last minute although have a good reason why whereas no reason this time whatsoever.

Happened to me last week, person had offered, I hadn't asked, dc beyond excited and counting down the days. Last minute cancellation because they needed some me time. Disappointing especially as I had helped out plenty previously due to person being let down by others themself!

Ianbro that's really shitty fortunately this isn't really kiddie related as such as one appointment is for a wax which is why I'm so fucked off as I've been going down the yeti root now for almost 4 weeks and if I cannot find an alternative sitter I'll be having to shave as we're away soon

OP can you get a mobile beautician to come to your house to do a wax?

and that's the only time they can fit me in I'd feel bad cancelling as they could've had a paying customer instead. But I may have to look into booking myself into a salon when Mrgolden is free.

That is why I don't like to rely on favours. Your relative should have kept to their word, but if they did not and cancelled at the last minute, there isn't much you can do but fume. Some people are just lax with their word. I have to say I don't often gell with such people.

I prefer to pay for professional services that I can manage in a transactional manner. Or rely on a few people who I know can be trusted.

There's too many people in this (entitled) world who think it's OK to just change their mind about an arrangement made. They seem to think their time or life is far more important than yours and so can let you down at no notice without a care in the world. They agree to invites to weddings etc and then just don't turn up. They don't know the meaning of the word commitment. Makes me sooooo cross

IDo honestly this heat is killing me I'll have to get something sorted may have to push Mrgolden to take the day off so more cost to us for a freebie but I'd rather that than let anyone down. In principle you're right, a person is only as good as their word etc etc and in an ideal world that's how it would be. But that's not where we live. We live in a world where shit happens.

I'd try to find out the reason for the sudden cancellation/dropping you in it - there may well be a damn good one. If, on the other hand it turns out there isn't a jolly good reason, then you're not unreasonable to be annoyed.
