To ask what the name of this food was called at school!

BLUESEAPARADISE · 22/08/2017 17:06

A family member is trying to explain a food item to me that she used to have at school as she used to really enjoy it and would like to have it again but can't remember what it's called or the correct name!

She has described it as " little potato pieces .. that are spiral like a MR Wippy and tend to be crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside'

The other thing she is trying to explain is the following " flatish rectangles ( she things the are rectangle ) and have breadcrumbs on the outside and some sort of tomato on the inside ( but doesn't really have a strong tomato flavour as she isn't a huge fan of tomato!)

Would be grateful if anyone could help her out as I would secretly like to try and cook her this meal again as she said it was always one of her favourites and hasn't had it since first school! ( she is 22 if that's any help)

Oh I know what you mean with the potato. No idea of the name. Crispy mash?? Ha

isaulte · 22/08/2017 17:09

Could the potatoes be success potatoes (like piped mashed potatoes). I seem to remember having those at school. Not sure about the other things- unless they are spam fritters?

Sleeplessinguiltyness · 22/08/2017 17:10

?

thismeansnothing · 22/08/2017 17:21

That's what I said fooffighter but struggling to find an image which isn't just the packaging

AllToadsLeadToHome · 22/08/2017 17:27

They were potato tubes with ketchup in the centre though, not flat rectangles. There is an image on the packaging that shows them.

I was wondering if they were some kind of fried sandwich with tomato inside, cut into rectangles.

BrutusMcDogface · 22/08/2017 17:27

I loved findus crispy pancakes! The cheese ones and the mince were my favourite as a child.

Never tried a ketchip though!

BLUESEAPARADISE · 22/08/2017 17:29

She has said it isn't the ketchip things but Thankyou though! And it wasn't a pancake :(

Ooh Findux crispy cheese pancakes! I lived on those for 4 years at university (along with cider and ciggies) Blush

Ceto · 22/08/2017 17:31

I thought this was going to be about what kids called school food generally. Fond memories here of Kennomeat pie and fish feet ...

x2boys · 22/08/2017 17:32

They burnt the roof of your mouth off though when you bit into themSad

BLUESEAPARADISE · 22/08/2017 17:34

She has said does anyone remember when the tomato ketchup man used to visit to put a small bit of tomato sauce on your tray? She has the tomato sauce man visited a couple of times a year but everyone always thought it was magical when he visited with his special ketchup machine!
