Do we think some women start behaving the way described in these threads when they become MILs, or were they always unpleasant women? If the latter, which of us will become that type of MIL?

My PIL are the kind whose children need to be referred to the 'Stately Homes' threads. Needless to say they are difficult to have a relationship with and I'm now NC. I tried for years, ignoring their bullying of us both, the snide comments putting me & DH down a peg or two etc. I have parents who celebrate their DC's individuality and my PIL were a nasty revelation.

To be fair to them it's not a DIL/MIL thing. It's a rational human being vs selfish twat thing.
