To think all 7-yr-is girls are not taking pouty, posing selfies

My mate says all girls age 7/8/9 are taking those ridiculous pouty posing selfies. I say no they aren't. What's your experience?

7-yr-old I mean!

Not mine

xyzandabc · 21/08/2017 19:26

Nope, not here they're not. Possibly just beginning to at 10, but not most of them. Most don't have a phone until 10/11.

greensnail · 21/08/2017 19:28

My dds are 7 and 8. No posing selfies here, they are more interested in minecraft.

Birdsgottafly · 21/08/2017 19:29

The only ones I see are when their Mums are taking pictures doing usual kid stuff.

So not Selfies and it's only if they have older Sisters or Cousins etc.

BR62Y · 21/08/2017 19:37

Do they have phones at that age? If so, why?

Sallystyle · 21/08/2017 19:37

My 8 and 10 year old have taken my phone to play with filters. There was a couple of them pouting in them and pulling other faces.

It's certainly not very often and they don't take it seriously and of course they aren't posted anywhere. They have three teen siblings so have seen their fair share of pouty selfies and filter photos.

OhDearToby · 21/08/2017 19:38

Mine doesn't!

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 21/08/2017 19:41

Yep mine does and so do loads of her friends - they just grab my phone and do it usually. They are just having fun, they are not posting them anywhere. Some do, some don't is the answer to your question.

Sallystyle · 21/08/2017 19:42

Do they have phones at that age? If so, why?

Not phones, but many children that age do have tablets which can take photos. I see nothing wrong with children having tablets at that age personally.

I know someone on FB who gets her daughter to pose and pout all the time. The daughter is 5 years old and she posts countless photos of her dd pouting. Which I do find ridiculous.

Dina1234 · 21/08/2017 19:42

No, they are definitely not.

Phosphorus · 21/08/2017 19:43

No.

My daughter uses the internet for school work, Stampy, Netflix and 'What's Apping' family.

A selfie, in her mind, would be filming her gaming, a La Stampy.

She still likes Peppa Pig, MLP, and Cbeebies.

That1950sMum · 21/08/2017 19:44

No definitely not. Most wont have phones at that age. My 11 year old DD is definitely not interested in any of that crap.

magicinthenight · 21/08/2017 19:47

I mean, when I was seven I would sometimes dress up or 'borrow' my mum's lipstick and mess around posing in front of the mirror (for my future modelling career obviously). If it had been that easy to take a picture then me and my friends would probably have taken some? As long as they aren't posting them up I don't think it's really that different.

Showandtell · 21/08/2017 19:50

Mines 11 and doesn't take pouting selfies.

Vonklump · 21/08/2017 19:50

Not here

ILoveMillhousesDad · 21/08/2017 19:52

No. Dd is nearly 9 and doesn't have a phone.

She does have an ipad and we play about with snapchat sometimes on my phone, but I doubt she even knows what a pout is tbh.

TheKidsAreTakingMySanity · 21/08/2017 20:25

My 10yo is. Didn't think 7 year olds did though.

And then I found an old phone (no sim) full of my 7yo's pouty selfies. So I guess they are! Lol

WhenTheDragonsCame · 21/08/2017 20:57

My DD3 is just 7 and I think I have seen her do it once last year when we were at peppa pig world. She hid around a corner so nobody could see her, or so she thought. I think she might have been 5 then. She doesn't have access to a camera very often and when she does it is the iPod touch and she is normally watching cartoons.

DD2 is nearly 9 and even she doesn't really, though it is much more of a thing she would do.

Magic79 · 21/08/2017 20:59

My dds didn't even get a phone till 9 and they never pout.

alletik · 21/08/2017 21:41

My daughter went through an awful stage of taking pouty pictures when she was 8/9. Unfortunately, as she didn't have a phone, she'd take them on mine, her older sister's phone or anything she could get her hands on. Thankfully, we're past that stage now. I think it's just the younger sister trying and failing to be like her older sister.

alletik · 21/08/2017 21:42

Oh don't even mention the hand to the chin every time you try to take a picture. What is that all about!?! That replaced the trout pouts, marginally better I suppose!

Witsender · 21/08/2017 21:43

I don't know any that do. My daughter runs from the camera so she certainly doesn't! 😂

CarolinePenvenen · 21/08/2017 21:45

9yo and no posing selfies here. Selfies yes but silly ones not trout pouts.

EccentricPickle · 21/08/2017 21:47

Nope, not mine.

I have a 6 and 10 year old. DD1's iPad is full of selfies but not pouty ones. It's often her and her mates/DD2 pulling funny faces or just smiling at the camera. Half of them look like they've been taken by accident, i.e. Lots of nostril shots and blurry pictures 😂.

She makes lots of animations with Sylvanian Families and things like that. They're lovely to watch.
