To think they should just ban nuts on all flights

Just reading this and it's heartbreaking, seems like such a simple change to ban nuts on all flights to help protect people.

I've heard several people on mn saying they've been on flights where they were banned, seams to make sense as nut allergies are so widespread to just ban all together imo.

Neutrogena,My daughter has Anaphylaxis to Nuts/milk/piriton syrup and egg she has many more lesser allergies,Severe Chicken pox at 4 months old damaged her immune system,My daughter is now 18 and has been cared for by family and friends throughout the years but people like you cause a risk to her life, yes I understand some people haven't a clue about severe allergies but if a person is informed and asked not to eat nuts say on a plane and then they do,their actions could be deadly and they should have to answer to that after all how hard is it to refrain from consuming nuts 🙄

BunsyGirl · 22/08/2017 21:23

Lucysky2017 Your ignorance and stupidity astounds me. Yes, pregnent women can't fly...but only for a few weeks, not their whole lives! Yes, people are prevented from flying for medical reasons (I know this, my mum couldn't fly for the last years of her life)...but that is completely different...you can't cure all medical conditions but you can easily stop people from eating nuts!

Banning nuts on flights is such a simple thing that could make air travel easier and safer for a lot of people...why are you so selfish that you cannot see that?

By the way, my beautiful mum who passed away too soon, she would have done anything to help anyone. Seems so unfair that there are so many selfish people alive in this World (as evidenced by a lot of the comments on this thread) when she is not.

BeALert · 22/08/2017 21:26

as nobody has yet provided any evidence that there is a problem with how things are at present.

Would you continue to eat nuts on a flight if you were sitting next to someone who had just told you they had a severe allergy?

I mean, you'd have no evidence that they were telling the truth.

Just interested really.

FaveNumberIs2 · 22/08/2017 21:27

@Ta1kinPeece
I flew with jet2 three weeks ago. Both flights (there and back) had announcements to say nuts would not be available in flight.

MistressDeeCee · 22/08/2017 21:31

Yes I think they should. I can manage to do without nuts on a flight, I wouldn't want anyone with a nut allergy to suffer or die and that transcends any feeling of well I don't have a nut allergy so why should I care its my right to have nuts if I want to blah blah blah

4691IrradiatedHaggis · 22/08/2017 21:32

Funny how certain posters recall everything about every poster on a thread, and some check previous. God Almighty how sad a life is that

Didn't have to check anything, I could just instantly remember due to the foul comments you were coming out with earlier on the thread.
That you weren't going to stop eating your nuts for some unknown randomer (so even when it could cause death).
Needed calling out as your hypocrisy is astounding.

BeALert · 22/08/2017 21:33

A lot of airlines are getting better at taking nut allergies seriously - they will elect not to serve nut snacks, make announcements asking people not to eat nuts, allow you to board early to clean the area around you, create a buffer area around nut allergic passengers where no one is allowed to eat nuts. They train their staff and try their best.

Except American Airlines - with them you're on your own.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 22/08/2017 21:41

God Almighty how sad a life is that

I would have thought a good memory was a bonus...not sad

worridmum · 22/08/2017 21:42

who ever wanted a scholar report of airborn allegies here you go (you will need a acedemic subsricption i am not endagering mine by handing the journal out)

Nut bans would be a pain for me as I carry EatNatural bars as my emergency go to when I find that yet again, there is not a single thing in the airport/served on the plane that I can eat (coeliac).

I would cope with a ban, but it would be nice if airports/food outlets could help make avoidance a bit easier too.

4691IrradiatedHaggis · 22/08/2017 21:54

Anyway, at the risk of repeating myself, I agree with a ban on nuts on a plane.

Also a complete contradiction (I paraphrase as the thread's too long) to "shock, horror, some people might get onto a plane and be faced with.... A PEANUT!"

I don't think you even know what you're talking about yourself anymore. You're flip flopping about all over the place, God knows what point you're trying to make.

Kursk · 22/08/2017 22:03

It's kind of fascinating how this thread descended into a nut war.

I eat nuts like a demented squirrel but even I would stop on a aircraft. It seems that the price on a human life is less than a bag of dry roasted peanuts to some people.

Kinda scary to think what these people would do in the event of a crash given their low appreciation of a fellow travelers life.

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:09

There are a lot of posters on here who are a bit nuts alright.

But so be it.

Vicky1990 · 22/08/2017 22:10

Another thing that should be banned on flights is alcohol. The confined space inside an aircraft is not the place to be with people who have consumed to much alcohol, it is not necessary or essential.

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:10

469 can you quote my awful posts. I might be horrified thanks.

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:14

Vicky,

You see this is how it starts.

Ban nuts, ban dairy, ban drinks, ban everything.

Nut bans I agree with, but it will no doubt lead to demands from others about everything and anything.

I do not like this at all, apart from the nut thing which is ok and possibly fatal. Other than that forget it.

We are monitored from cradle to grave far too much as it is thank you!

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:16

turbo,

What about chocolate? My coeliac friend copes with that, sorry loves it.

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:17

You are far too invested in me and the thread. I agree with banning nuts on planes.

Get a little life for yourself dearie.

Penelopeg · 22/08/2017 22:18

They should be banned on flights it's too much of a risk for those with allergies.

Springersrock · 22/08/2017 22:23

Yes, I think nuts should be banned on planes.

The last 2 times I've flown there's been an announcement that there is someone on board with a severe allergy so nuts should not be eaten, and both times there were complaints. They were 2 and 3 hour flights FFS

Sadly I'm not surprised that people don't take allergies/intolerances seriously. My own mother in law gave my coeliac daughter food containing gluten as she thought it was a "load of old flannel" and "you didn't have it in her day".

Antigonads · 22/08/2017 22:23

So you've taken my nuts.

And now you've come for my G&T.

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:27

Antigonads,

Sorry for smiling at your post, so right. But I hope a male relative is not too worried about anyone taking their nuts!!

First it was X, then it was Y, and then the alphabet started all over again to keep them happy.

So much anger and so little information or debate.

Anyway, ban peanuts, no one has a problem, so what is everyone's problem now. There has to be another crusade.

It will not end with peanuts.

4691IrradiatedHaggis · 22/08/2017 22:35

469 can you quote my awful posts. I might be horrified thanks.

from someone who is apparently all for a nut ban on planes and agrees with them
I dislike the drama of an annnouncement by the cabin crew about an unkown person/child who can dictate the terms for everyone.

If the ban on nuts doesn't happen before you fly, go by boat or train.
It is your responsibility to keep your family safe. Not ours.

and the other one -
But hush, there are some on here who are very annoyed that a peanut would be within a mile of them. On a plane though. So that would be after parking, going to departures and eating with the great unwashed, and Queuing with same, and getting on plane only to find.
A PEANUT!

You won't be horrified though at all, just come back with some wise crack about "see you went looking, how sad are you" even after you wanted them quoting.
Because that's all you're doing on here, you're on the wind up. Over people with fatal nut reactions. Sick.

sunglassally · 22/08/2017 22:45

469

I think you need to step away for a moment.

If anyone asked me to quote a post from someone I would be baffled and couldn't do it.

This is a fast moving site, and someone somewhere is always going to be annoyed with someone else, such is life in cyberspace.

I was never personally abusive to anyone, you can acknowledge that at least. I hope.

Anyway I have no issue with you or any other poster here, I am just posting as I want to. Is that alright with you?

If we were all posting off the same hymn sheet it would be very very boring here wouldn't it.

Ban nuts on planes. I agree.

Antigonads · 22/08/2017 22:49

Interesting that someone hoped I choked to death.

Wonder if MNHQ will be deleting that.
