It's been around for a while, and if I've misheard it, please do correct me.
Little Mix, 'Sad Songs'. Here we go...

'So tonight, I'm going to get my mind of it, don't care that someone's got his hands all over my body'

WHAT???

You're upset, trying to take your mind of it, in a club, someone's groping you and you're not bothered?

Makes me feel ill every time I hear it. And having done a lot of driving this weekend with kids who will not listen to anything but Capital, I've heard it a lot.

The only thing worse than hearing Pharrell sing "I want to split your arse in two" is listening to him telling posh ole Krishnan Guru Murphy that he also wants to do his share of arse-splitting!

The80sweregreat · 21/08/2017 12:09

My Sharona is one of my favourite songs as i love the riff in the middle. have to look up the lyrics now!

The80sweregreat · 21/08/2017 12:12

The lyrics are awful!! will just have to listen to the instrumental version from now on ( if they have one on spotify)

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 21/08/2017 12:12

"Girl I want to make you sweat" is pretty disturbing. Popular when I was a kid at school discos though.

VestalVirgin · 21/08/2017 12:14

And actually what is wrong with the Little Mix lyrics. There's nothing to suggest that the groping won't be consensual.

If she "doesn't care" then that does suggest she doesn not want it.

Sure, if you think that not caring much one way or the other equals "consent", you may think it consensual.

But the singer doesn't sound enthusiastic about the groping.

Allwashedup · 21/08/2017 12:15

Tonight's The Night by Rod Stewart is a very disturbing song about an underage girl and older man.

RedBlackberries · 21/08/2017 12:16

Try listening to Nicki Minaj and Eminem: romans revenge if you want properly Shock lyrics!

CurlsandCurves · 21/08/2017 12:16

Probably should have added 'lighthearted' to the title, I am well aware there is far worse out there! I have listened to plenty of NIN in my time.

Oh and Rita Ora, shagging on her blokes mates couch. If I was said mate I'd be fewmin!

Coloursthatweremyjoy They really don't listen. I was always amused at how often EMFs Unbelievable got used on children's TV complete with 'What the fuck was that?'.

PinkGlitter17 · 21/08/2017 12:26

Dinah Washington sang this. Filth.

lynmilne65 · 21/08/2017 12:28

In the 60's.
Lie down girl let me push it up!!

LogicalPsycho · 21/08/2017 12:37

I still quite admire the fact that The Shamen got past the lyrics censors and had a bunch of kids and teens singing "Es are good, Es are good" in the 90s Grin

BitchQueen90 · 21/08/2017 12:38

Nicki Minaj "anaconda" is hideous. Having sex with a drug dealer because he buys her Alexander McQueen and has a "dick bigger than a tower" Hmm

"Swalla" by Jason Derulo. I swear he keeps saying "dryness!" all the way through. Appropriate.

NicolasFlamel · 21/08/2017 13:07

That lalala long big brown eyes (cant remember the title) song is fucking weird. I loved it when I was little and then realised what the lyrics were when I heard it as an adult.

ChilliMum · 21/08/2017 13:17

Bobby Brown by Frank Zappa?

I know the song is a parody of the American dream but lyrics include rape, S&M and the delightfulast sexualité spastic!

It's played a lot on German radio and has a really catchy tune, it took me ages before I actually listened to the lyrics by which time my kids were singing along Blush

anotherAnotherUsername · 21/08/2017 13:19

what suggests it's a grope as opposed to consensual casual touching?

Graunaile2017 · 21/08/2017 13:24

noeffingidea - I like the song too, it just struck me that it might be a suitable example for this thread that i thought was lighthearted.
Although i suppose it's not very feminist of us to support his calling a woman a little girl or that his wanting to have , presumably, some sort of sexual encounter with her is a bad desire. :)
Probably shouldn't read too deeply into song lyrics.

Crunchymum · 21/08/2017 13:26

Years ago (circa 2004) there was a song being thumped out of the shit bars of Kos that had lyrics along the lines of "from my front to my back, lick my pussy and my crack"

Even my early 20's self on a wild girls holiday was horrified.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 21/08/2017 13:26

Surely it would be My Neck, My Back.

Really just an instructional guide on oral sex in aong form.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 21/08/2017 13:27

Hah, that is an excellent cross post with crunchymum.

callmeadoctor · 21/08/2017 13:27

What is wrong with Gilbert OSullivans "Clare"? Its pretty obvious that he is babysitting a child isn't it? (wanders off trying to work out what is wrong with it)

Crunchymum · 21/08/2017 13:33

Hanar god it's worse than I remember Shock

NicolasFlamel · 21/08/2017 13:55

Oh also Lil Kim "I used to be scared of the dick, now I throw lips to the shit. Handle it like a real bitch" 😂 I mean, what the fuck!
