There's a huge advert for her new album at the top of the page. AIBU to not see the point of her?

She lacks expertise or tenacity in any area, just flits from one thing to another and comes out of the woodwork when she needs some cash. I see no talent within her.

Curmudgeon on McCutcheon?!

Jonathan Pryce: "There's as much chance of me getting a date with Julia Roberts as doing My Fair Lady in New York with Martine McCutcheon".

His "poker" face in the Olivier awards ceremony 2002 is anything but (her speech was lovely, but if looks could kill).

I felt sorry for her after Love Actually. She went to Elton John's party and instead of networking she allegedly got drunk and shoved the wrong people so LA shunned/blackballed her. It's a shame she's poorly, she was made for Strictly.

I always liked Martine & think that she did once have the x-factor but has now lost it. She was v popular as Tiffany, Perfect Moment was a big hit & she was one of the better things about Love Actually. My Fair Lady & her bankruptcy were low points for her. And the alleged Hollywood faux pas...
But the fact is that now she's over 40 & a bit mumsy. She's Loose Women. Nowt wrong with that, we all get older & less shiny, sexy, cool. Problem is, it won't help her sell records. So OP may be right in saying she's just blah... She simply doesn't have the same appeal anymore.
I remember living in London years ago & there was a massive billboard at the end of my street featuring a magazine cover of her in pants & a vest. She looked amazing. I remember wishing I looked like her. Thing is, I did look great back then too...

Just seen the advert on tv for her new album. It's very 80s isn't it?

I reckon Martine may be a mumsnetter; I wonder what she'll make of this thread. If it gives her conscience a tweak about two kids waiting to get her autograph and being told to choose which one could have it then I hope she reads it. We did make them laugh by saying maybe she isn't good at writing so she could only manage it once. When they had time to reflect they gave the autograph away, they both got Dennis Waterman's autograph and he stopped and chatted to them and made their day.
